      @Imran Zakhaev Uh, what? That's not true at all. Depression most often stems from a chemical imbalance in the brain, not something that can be fixed through therapy. Antidepressants aren't a te porary crutch. They're a solution to a chronic condition.

      @Imran Zakhaev That "science" merely proved it wasn't due to low serotonin and that more complex factors were involved, such as faulty neurotransmitters, genetic predisposition, and hormone imbalances in the body.

      And, though I guess I'm cis, I'm surprised these idiot bigots, who seem to think they're well educated, don't realize that throughout history we hoomans have had trans and multi genders all along. Even here in America. Some of the Native tribes had (each had their own terms, translating close to he/she) people. And they were coveted as wives if feminine, or hunting partners if masculine. Their genitals didn't matter! Often, in other cultures they were considered 'holy'. So, this bigotry just comes from fear and that is why it got written into the abrahamic religions. @Imran Zakhaev not sure what business their bodies and minds are of yours. Sex and or Genders are very much assigned by governments on birth certificates on the best guess of doctors. They fill out a form and everything. Im not sure how you come to think something is universal and absolute especially when nuclear physics and atomic theory have so many nuances and complexities. So yes. I agree in a way. If you consider atomic theory where we found out that what used to be the 4 immutable elements is in actuality a complex but understandable set of atoms that can interact and combine in ways that are not intuitive to the old way of thinking. For example water that is well known for its fire extinguishing abilities can be made into fuel for fire and is always born out of combustion in the first place. Similarly what seems to you to be a straight forward binary is actually a few dozen lived experiences that you can not see and simply have to accept since their psychology and physiology are both absolutely what they find them to be and not what you hope or want them to be.

    • @rosedruid
      @rosedruid Рік тому +3

      @Imran Zakhaev I never claimed you needed to be assigned one… and guess what you can assign your own just like your scenario suggests. But most people are assigned a label at birth that may or may not fit their future lived reality. Now consider your gay, on that desert island and you meet a woman you could technically procreate with but you don’t feel a need to. She might get frustrated because she sees an anatomy that could do that job but not a person who fits that role. It’s similar for trans people. You can’t see what it’s like in their heads, you just have to believe them because they are the experts on who they are… not you. To do otherwise is to be rude and over bearing.

It's always us trans people who have to give counter-arguments to transphobic "arguments" (to which transphobes don't actually give a response that makes sense). Most allies don't do research so they can't properly "have an argument" with a transphobe, convincing the transphobe that trans people and allies are all just delusional, even though there is no "argument" to be made, because who is someone to try and take away from someone being happier as who they truly are, whether or not they understand the science?
    My mother and brother both watch Matt Walsh, and both have had arguments with me. My mum, convinced that I'm only saying I'm trans because I'm autistic (not even medically-diagnosed autistic, just speculated), wanted me to wait until I'm 25 to start T, I only turned 18 this year and I wasn't waiting another seven years to live my truth. He had an "argument" with me the night before my 18th birthday right in front of our cousin over our cousin calling me a "gentlemen". I told him I could send him actual research and papers and facts and he denied all of that, claiming that "universities are all owned by leftists and don't do real research".

    Okay, the objective of medicine is to heal you. So if someone is diagnosed with GENDER DYSPHORIA, which is a MEDICAL ISSUE that requires HEALING... then, BY HIS OWN DEFINITION... medicine should be used to help the patient. And since what helps the patient IS the transition, that's exactly what medicine should do.
    Do I believe that medicine really helps them? Not that much; it helps with their image which is a very big thing though. Does it biologically change their gender? No, but that's only until we manage to create gene therapy that edits their DNA. Does it make people who have gender dysphoria deal with life better? Of course.
    And yes, there are people who pretend to be trans (trans-trenders) and there's also a lot of confused people who make a very big choice while under emotional duress. But that simply means we need to get better people to diagnose actual issues from underlying ones. Not go "hurr durr, I say I right, therefore I right".

      Quality of life of treatment-seeking transgender adults: A systematic review and meta-analysis
      (a peer-reviewed paper)
      Mental health
      "Findings from the meta-analysis of mental health-related QoL suggest that the QoL of transgender people is significantly poorer than that of the general population, with a medium to large effect size (standard mean difference = 0.78). The subgroup meta-analysis including only the samples of transgender people who were classifiable as post-hormonal treatment found that transgender people post-CHT still had lower mental health-related QoL than the general population. This difference was not significant and the effect size was reduced (standard mean difference = 0.42). The possibility that treatment is associated with improvements in mental wellbeing is supported by the findings from the small number of longitudinal studies in this review. These found that both CHT and GAGS improve QoL. However these results need to be treated with caution, as the only study to employ a longer term follow-up reported that after an initial improvement in QoL at 1-year post-GAGS, scores tend to steadily decrease in the following years until reaching 5-years post-GAGS, when QoL is lower than at pre-treatment. During the first year post-GAGS people tend to report overly enhanced QoL, which may not be representative of a long-term picture of patients’ psychological status and QoL. The improvement in QoL experienced by transgender people at short-term could be attributed to relief at being able to live as the experienced gender. Additionally, as QoL in the general population has been shown to decrease with age, a decline in these scores is somewhat expected as time passes."
      Conclusion
      "As all systematic literature reviews, this study is also limited by the amount and quality of the published literature available. Future studies should employ more robust methodologies, which explore QoL in a more homogeneous population and using matched control groups.
      Despite the limitations of the published literature, this review concludes that overall transgender people display poorer QoL than the general population, particularly pre-GAT, and that QoL improves once people are on CHT.
      When specifically looking at the different dimensions of QoL (vQoL, sex-related QoL, and body image-related QoL), findings of the systematic review suggest that transgender people display poorer QoL than the general population, independent of the QoL domain investigated. As per general QoL, all dimensions of QoL have been shown to improve post-GAT. However, as the effect of GAT is linked to gender, a more positive vQOL was found for transgender men than transgender women at post-GAT, whilst opposite findings were obtained for sex-related QoL.
      As long-term follow-up studies are limited in numbers and methodology, more studies are required exploring long-term QoL. This information may aid the development of support and interventions aiming at increasing resilience for those at risk of a poor QoL post-GAT."
      There are other studies that suggest similar poorer long-term outcomes and worse satisfaction post-SRS, but this one was long and I have other things to tend to.

    Anyone that watched that video, with Walsh saying ignorant language, and come away with the idea that Matt Walsh made sense, or is in anyway a person that should make public appearances like this. Should take a deep look at themselves! Telling people a load of shit, calling professionals liars, and yeah there probably are liars that are professional. I mean, Matt is a great example. But him speaking on a subject where the only experience he has on the subject is being a UA-cam content creator is nonsense. I give that young adult props for asking that question. I'll be the first to admit that the transgender situation is something I've only begun to understand. I used to think that homosexual feelings were a result of sexual abuse by a same sex perpetrator, along with not having someone to teach them sex education. I never had any issues with homosexual actions, I just thought that was how one eventually becomes homosexual. But when I actually dug down and researched info, and the mother of my kids asking me a really important question- "How would you treat your son if he told you he was homosexual or he said he didn't feel right, that he has female likes and wants, but looks like a boy, with a penis, and so forth?" Asking me that, actually forced me to find out. Anyone that thinks they know what is right with zero education, or didn't do any research on the subject, are making a huge mistake and will be damaging the relationship with their kids. When looking on the subject of what transgender even is, that was another thing that opened my mind. Thats when I looked at the world of bigotry, hate, and how religions influence those emotions with a massive hate of my own. And that we need more people to speak out about it more than ever.

    Just beginning the vid. I like Walsh to be honest, and I mostly agree with him on the topic of transgender. That being said, if this isn’t click bait and he actually does than he’s completely fucked. We understand why people are gay fairly well now a days.

  • @Rayrard
    @Rayrard Рік тому +3

    I feel uncomfortable with Stick's assertion of "who you idenify as is what you truly are". The "feeling" should give you the freedom to express yourself the way you want, but it literally cannot change the biological reality of who you are. It's kind of like if you identify with a tiger and cosplay as a tiger you will never be a tiger. I think the main problem is the deep insecurity and sadness that this trans person feels in being the sex they were born as, and we as a society should make them feel comfortable expressing themself in the way that they feel happy. I would like to know why that person was so sad at being a boy or being treated like a boy, and how they were treated (were they in a religious family?). You can see the deep emotion just in their question. I think it is a complicated subject and Walsh comes across as too much of a judgemental, cocky asshole, when the topic requires more nuance that probably is neither Walsh right wing or Woke left wing. I think there are some people who are genuinely trans but I believe a lot of them are simply confused or even mentally ill. Internet social media just makes it worse because people can form groups of like minded people. Telling kids at an early age that you can be anything you identify as is going to lead to lots of problems.

    • @CzAnimations
      @CzAnimations Рік тому +1

      This is just false. Gender identity is what you identify as and that's literally who you are. Gender unlike sex isn't biological concept but social one.
      That's why your tiger analogy doesn't work. Your identity is irrelevant to your species.
      And being progressive or tolerant isn't causing mental issues or "transing" children. That's just a right wing talking point based on zero evidence. In fact evidence we have contradicts this.
