    Thanks for the review. Can auto mode be activated through HomeKit and therefore automations?

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  3 місяці тому

      Hi, yes you can activate auto mode in the Apple Home app, and also include it in an automation, as well as set a specific fan speed.

      @@homekitnews Thank you for getting back so quick! Looks like there has been an update since that wasn't available about a year ago. One more question regarding HomeKit. Can you also activate sleepmode in HomeKit and automations?

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  3 місяці тому

      @@Sintsoij hi, the location for auto and manual modes aren’t immediately obvious, so you need to go into the settings for the Purelle, then select the ‘accessories’ tab, and you’ll then see the purelle listed again as a tile, along with a separate tile for the pm2.5 sensor. When you go into the tile for the Purelle, and then into the settings, you’ll see options for manual and auto mode, plus the child lock. These options also appear in an automation when you’re creating it. Sleep mode is a little more tricky, as it’s not available in Home, but can be accessed in some third-party HomeKit compatible apps. One of these is the Controller app. It’s not free, however, but it does give you access to more hidden settings for many HomeKit devices.

      They have said it’s capable of supporting Matter, but they aren’t going to update it at the moment.

    Thank you for the review. How long is the power cord?

      Hi, I just measured it roughly and it’s 1.8m/70.8in. It may well be the standard 2m/78.7in, but I couldn’t get to the cable easily enough to measure it accurately!

    So good video.
    However I wonder how your Eve app can display so much information. My Eve app doesn't show any HomePod mini, Thread-enabled Apple TV or even connection quality of each Thread Router.
    If you can, please tell me why. Thanks so much.

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  2 роки тому +1

      Hi, in order to see more detailed information in the Eve app, you just need one Eve product that has permanent power, like the Eve Energy smart plug. Once you have one of these, you get to view more details, including your HomePod Mini and Apple TV (if it’s the 2021 model or later).

    Hi,does it work with HomePod 1st Gen?

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  Рік тому +1

      Only via Bluetooth. If you want to take advantage of Thread, you need a Thread Border router - Apple TV (2021 model) or a HomePod Mini.

    Love your channel, just started getting into it.
    However I suspect these types of air purifiers are a bit of a con (air-con?… You can have that one). They rarely live up to their specs and claims. I’ve seen few tests of fairly well known brands recently by genuine experts in the field, and they are almost a complete waste of time for a number of reasons. As quite a few are coming to the market with HomeKit and other smart home compatibility, I understand content creators in this area are keen to make videos. Especially as things have otherwise slowed down (probably until Mater arrives). But I do think a deeper examination of their actual benefits and effectiveness at actually improving air quality would be good, especially as these are effectively health products. Anyway, keep up the good 👍🏻

      Ho Dom, thanks for the feedback. I do the basic tests that I figure are of use to the average user, but I tend to focus on the smart aspect of devices generally. I understand your point, but I simply don't have the equipment to provide very informed data on these products. One channel I do recommend is Modern Castle, as he does more testing, generally speaking, especially in this video (ua-cam.com/video/RT9hSvDvz94/v-deo.html). All that said, air purifiers are proven to work, so in terms of which model does the best, it would seem to be a combination of the parts and quality of the filter, combined with the relative power of the internal fan. That also said, there is a limit to how much suction can be provided through something like a HEPA 13 filter, regardless of the power of the fan, for example.

    Admittedly, the Thread transmission has me thinking that my home-office VOCOlink filter might be better in the garage and this filter would be best in my home office!

      for connection it has been rock solid, but then my Vocolinc air purifier has been fairly reliable too.

    I used fakespot to analyze the reviews for this product on Amazon. It scored a big fat 'F'. That said, it could still be an effective product, but-for whatever reason-the seller has chosen to artificially inflate it's star rating. Just something to keep in mind.

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  2 роки тому +2

      Do you think that result has anything to do with the Vine reviews that are posted where people get the product via Amazon for free? I personally ignore those particular reviews, but from my own experience it’s a good, if not particularly remarkable device, save for the fact it has Thread.
      Edit: I’ve noticed on the amazon listing and the fakespot analysis page that they’re conflating the Purelle with the Purelle Mini to some degree, which doesn’t help, as they’re totally different products (but from the same manufacturer). This seems to be because the listing has an option for either the standard one or the Mini option. Based on that it’s hard to fully accept the findings of the analysis for this particular device. I suspect that a large portion of the analysis is for the Mini, not the smart one in this video.

      @@homekitnews Most likely. Only 6 of the reviews (of 34 total) were verified purchases, and 4 (of those 6) are for a different, mini, portable, and "dumb" version.
      Fakespot couldn't supply an adjusted star rating due to too few reviews. I'm pasting the fakespot analysis below.
      I'm going to buy it today so I can see for myself. I'll update this thread with my thoughts.
      Fakespot Report:
      How are reviewers describing this item?
      quiet, small, little, three and pretty.
      Our engine has profiled the reviewer patterns and has determined that there is high deception involved.
      Our engine has analyzed and discovered that 20.0% of the reviews are reliable.
      This product had a total of 29 reviews as of our last analysis date on Sep 3 2022.

      @@taliwalt5332 the one thing that made me notice the discrepancy in what product is being referred to, was that one review mentioned in the fake spot analysis stated there was no power supply provided, which isn’t the case for the product I reviewed, but is the case for the Mini.
