Replacing your Navigation display in a 2007 RDX Tech with an aftermarket double din stereo.

- In this video I try to explain how I put a double din stereo in where the navigation display is in your 2007 Acura RDX Tech. Please take your time if you chose to do what I did. Do at your own risk! Its your choice whether to do this! I'm not to blame fpr any damage or mess ups!
Parts you will need:
* a Dremel tool with a cutting wheel
* a plastic pry tool
* thin metal sheeting
* your new double din stereo
* the plastic bezel that goes around the face of your new stereo
* screw driver
* black marker with a fine tip
* possibly a ruler
The link to the fm radio adaptor you need to get for your aftermarket stereo.
Notice: The blue wire thats with the adaptor needs to be tied into the ignition switch power as its amplifies the fm signal.

Also make sure you disconnect the battery and wait a few minutes before doing this. The video requires you to disconnect a wiring harness that connects to the passenger airbag light. If you don't disconnect the battery and you then unplug the harness, you will get a airbag light on your instrument cluster.
I never did, but do whatever you feel comfortable with.
on the stock radio or navi is there any non honda proprietary inputs and outputs?? if so is it possible to use one of those android radios or screens in the position where the navi is.. also if its all honda stuff i wonder if any of this is interchangeable with the 8th gen accord stuff.. ie any aftermarket stuff for those years.
When you replace the head unit, can you still use the 6 disc CD changer that comes with the car?
That I'm not sure. In my case, no, because I don't have speakers or anything else wired up to the factory unit
Thanks for the tutorial, I have 2007 rdx too and was wondering if its possible to change out the factory stereo only? would that affect the hvac system? im just starting out to do more research before diving in for DIY.........will also watch your other videos too, thanks again
Ah so you kept the factory stereo but just changed the display with double din stereo? so factory stereo with hvac was left alone and the audio wires were removed?
@@josephphronesis9554 in order to see your car temp and stuff, you have to keep the factory stereo plugged in. In one of my videos I show you where to put/hide it. You can replace the factory stereo with a new head unit where your factory stereo was at, instead of replacing the display unit, but thats up to you. It most likely would be easier to do it that way. I just chose not too. Especially since I had other things that I wanted to put at that location, plus I dont use my heated seats. Wiring will still be the same as in the video.

@@daho30 I did some more digging and found one guy replacing the head unit with 2 din, my question is would any standard 2 din work ? is there any other way of getting a aftermarket screen in a 07 rdx other than doing modifications like that?
Possibly if you wanted to take out the part that is under the factory stereo and the factory stereo its self. You might be able to come up with something using the factory bracket.
I have a 2009 RDX without navigation, Can you or anyone here tell me if there’s a way to display the temperature settings, vent position etc… on the new aftermarket screen. Or maybe add a little digital display where the on CD player used to be above the heated seats switches?

There is someone, don't recall his name, that made his non tech have an aftermarket stereo. If I recall, he had to buy some of those parts, like the temp screen in order to make it work. Try and ask on some Acura Facebook groups.

I have an 09 rdx. The hvac system is tied in to the radio. Not sure if yours is as well. If it is how did you solve the problem of seeing a display for ac functions?
You have to keep your factory stereo plugged in. If you keep watching my videos on it you'll see that I had my factory stereo underneath the dash all plugged in

did you need to buy some sort of adapter for the backup camera?
