Paying that much for a product that has quality standard issues is the only reason I will pass up on these even if they sound like a lot of fun. When they get more consistent QC and their paddles stop failing surface grip test I will buy one, but by the time that happens other companies will have already release similar products for cheaper.
This is 100% accurate! I demoed one at my local lifetime and they have crazy power and spin but the moment you miss hit or have no spin it rockets out not sure I’m gonna purchase one quite yet.
I 100% agree with the power statements made and I 100% disagree with the "you can't control it" statements. I have the Magnus and loved it from day 1 and had no problem controlling it. I came from a Gen 2 Perseus. Joola says, "the paddle knows what kind of shot you're trying to hit and helps you hit it" and this is a statement I 100% agree with.
I don’t disagree that the right players will learn to control it and it will be an advantage. My playing style is aggressive and I like to swing hard. I also don’t have a tennis background and think my play style is not very pretty! 🥴 So it was really tough for me to get used to. I’m playing with the Scorpeus 16mm now and i love that paddle though, review coming soon!
I’m wondering if the new Vatic Pro Oni will have anywhere near the power of the Joolas. It seems to have a core similar to the gearbox but hopefully it will have more control and bigger sweetspot. Especially the Flash version. At $160 it will be more accessible if it is a good paddle. Looking forward to reviews once it hits the market.
I actually think that might work out well. The face is longer on the Magnus so your finger should never really get in the way. I would also say two things: 1. Buy it in person, you never know what you’re going to get grit wise 2. If you have never used a power paddle demo it first. These paddles are tough to get used to!
Ya I have burn the Hyperion and the magnus and they are both the best paddles on the market hands down. Its powerful extreme control and the spin is next level.
Thx for the very pointed and honest review. While I look for “the better” paddle, and new tech, power alone isn’t worth $300 (tax and shipping), unless somehow accompanied by control and spin. In the final analysis, we play with what works best for our mechanics. As in tennis, the wonder racquet/paddle that does it all, power, spin, and control from all areas of the court, will likely never happen. Perhaps a demo, but as you stated, fun to mess around with but not in tournaments when you need to trust your gear.
The rating is 97, 97, 98 so how is not good for power and spin and control? Is that not average scores from all types of shots no matter where you are on the court?
@@ThePicklePulse It shows those scores for the paddle on the cardboard cover it comes in and also in the beginning of the video where the specs of the paddle were shown. All Joola paddles shows scores on the cardboard covers by the way.
saw a close up of Tyson's Magnus at red rock tournament and could not believe how much lead tape he had on it (?) so is it really that powerful or is he just a beast???
I typically like the 16mm version of most paddles, I started with that one simply because of that. I also grabbed the Magnus because I love the SelKirk Power Air and thought the shape was a good fit. I’m realizing now that I think I would have rather had a hybrid shape like the Hyperion.
These new hot paddles are fun and games until they show up on the other side of the net. I've notice older rec players having these hot paddles with no control at all. Some of the older women refuse to play against them. They are definitely changing the game.
The QC is definitely questionable, they all have the USPA approved label on them which means that all amateurs will be ok to play with them in tournaments Legal or not. It’s sad, my hope is that the power paddles get more scrutiny in the future!
Someone needs to investigate. Did Joola bribe someone at the USAPA? Who removed this rule and why? 2.E.6.f Springs or spring-like material, flexible membranes or any compressible material that creates a trampoline effect. Joola's paddles would not meet 2023 standards and they are bragging about their paddles having the same effect? "Austin Kim, Product Manager at JOOLA. The “Propulsion Core” was engineered to create a “catapult effect”
I demoed Anna bright Scorpius 14mm gen3 paddle this morning. Great spin and power and makes my paddles seem obsolete

Thank you for the honest reviews.
If you can generate topspin, you will be more able to control it. Otherwise many shots will go out if you swing hard

I’ll be reviewing the Vatic Oni as soon as I can get my hands on one! Thanks for listening
Would you recommend this paddle for a person whose grip has their pointer finger on the paddle (similar to a Rob Cassidy/ Dawson grip)? Thanks!

Buy it in person, you never know what you’re going to get grit wise 2. If you have never used a power paddle demo it first. These paddles are tough to get used to!
I play like that! What paddle are you currently using?
Came from gearbox pro paddle, next to no transition, way earlier than my Gearbox pro did take months for me
If you can learn to play with these super hot paddles, it’s definitely an advantage!
Hai, im currently using vatic pro alchemy. Which one would you say have the same shape from these joola gen3?
The Hyperion shape would be the closest.

@@robertcuomo7084 lol, so Joola rated them. 🤔
@@ThePicklePulseyeah, so??? If these paddle reviewers on UA-cam were to give a rating what’s the difference? We ain’t them using it so, lol.

The paddle is a cannon, I didn’t even add any weight to mine. I can only imagine how he plows through the ball with a bunch of extra weight! 🤯
I like the pink 🥰🥰🥰
Any reason for the 16mm vs the 14mm? 16mm grip is a little too big and is a bit slower in the hands than the 14mm

Good review overall.
Thanks for repping the shirt :)
It’s a good looking shirt! www.mojopickleball.com for the win.
Is there a swing weight on this?
111 to 112, the paddle is very light. i added some lead tape (at 4 and 8 if the paddle were a clock) and it feels so good now!
@@ThePicklePulse wow.

From what I'm hearing only about 1 in 6 of them are passing tournament inspection, so most of them aren't legal.
The QC is definitely questionable, they all have the USPA approved label on them which means that all amateurs will be ok to play with them in tournaments Legal or not. It’s sad, my hope is that the power paddles get more scrutiny in the future!
Played against a guy with the new Hyperion last night. Dude couldn’t keep his drives in play. Too much power for him.
I know the feeling! These paddles are tough to play with, but I think an advantage if you can withstand the learning curve.

I’m also interested to see this play out as well, how this tech was approved is beyond me.
It’s NOT legal 😉
Mine just came and it is 8.4 oz. Seems a bit heavy and out of spec.
That’s a big swing from mine at 7.81oz, let me know your thoughts after you’ve played with it. Or are you sending it back because it’s too heavy?
Which model? My Perseus 3 16mm came in at 7.9, leaded it up to 8.2
subscribed 👍
I hate the sound they make 🤷🏼♂️ no way I pay more than $200 for a paddle
I actually like the sound, but i also like the smell of dry erase markers! Lol
the thumbnail didn't age well LOL
😂
Didn’t care for the feel of the paddle
