Born to run was released in 1975 (the year I graduated high school) and this is the song/album that propelled Bruce into super stardom and made me fall in love with him and the E Street Band. I have seen probably 15 times and actually took my grandson to see him 2016 (when Tom Morello toured with) and he always plays this song. It is his signature song ! Love the Boss and loved ‘The Big Man’ Clarence Clemons RIP (the saxophone player) would love to see you two react to Jungleland (my all time fav!!)

His guitarist played Silvio Dante in The Sopranos. Bruce is one of the best live shows I've been to. Played 3 hours straight in his 70's and didn't miss a note.

Fun Fact: This was the first song Springsteen wrote for a studio production, rather than a live performance. After recording four versions (one with a female chorus) at the low-budget studio where he recorded his first two albums, he moved to a higher end studio to finish it, refusing to release it until it was just right.

"Born To Be Wild" is by STEPPENWOLF, which was featured in the movie "Easy Rider", from 1969. "Born To Run" is the unofficial/official state song of New Jersey. The BIG MAN with the Saxophone was Clarence Clemons (RIP) aka The Red Bank Rocker. Red Bank is a cool town in New Jersey. Bruce eventually married the redhead singer in the E Street band, Patti Scialfa.

Born to Run was released as the album's title track in 1975. I hear it as being about passion, freedom and escape. Bruce got the name The Boss because early on he would divie up the pay from shows among the band members. I think you guys would like the song Badlands 👍

Saw him when I was 17, Darkness on the Edge of Town tour. 41/2 hours. Pure. Authentic. Rock . He expressed everything I was feeling. The hopes, the dreams, the knowledge that the world wasn’t fair. Thunder Road is the bomb. Greatest rock and roll song. To me. Expresses it all. He is The Boss, because he represents so many people and their lived experiences. Seen him 8 times, and the most recent (NY, 2024) ranks #3 on my list. He gets better with age because he’s real.

New Jersey tried to make this their official State song back in the 80's, untill someone pointed out the line "It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap. You gotta get out while you're young.".. they quickly dropped the idea after that...

I'm a big BS fan. Last saw him in June this year in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. It was awesome! The guy is 75y old but still gives these 3h energetic shows and still sounds fantastic. He's called The Boss because in the early days he would collect the money from their gigs and paid the band members. Next suggestion for BS would be 'Jungleland' from the same album Born To Run (1975). It's an epic 10m song about broken dreams and love among of gang life in the big city. This is one of the favorites for many BS fans. And my second suggestion: Since August 2023 I turned into this emotional softy after seeing Emma Kok performing 'Voilá'. You did a great reaction on this performance and I wandering when you'll be coming back at her. Please watch her perform Dancing On The Stars, it's fantastic.

Steppenwolf did Born to be Wild, from easy rider. Born to run came out almost ten years before born in the USA. To me, he kind of fits the same category as bob seger and John Mellencamp, blue collar rock about everyday people. I feel that Bruce's best songs were from the 70s and 80s more. His more recent stuff seems more political than his older stuff.

Bruce went from playing small places to arenas. I preferred the smaller venues-2000 people or so. He would let you sit on a runway that ran parallel to the stage, and he’d come sit with you and play/sing. Born In The USA was his shot to arenas. I didn’t go see him much after that. Met him after one of his shows near SMU. He was about my height 5’5”. And extremely kind.

The video was recorded on the Born to Run tour in 1984/85, but the original was the title track to his 1975 album Born to Run. It almost became the NJ state song in 1980.
His hometown currently has about 35,000 people in it. So, it's not big.
His bassist and previous drummer both graduated from my high school. Two years before I was born. LOL
RIP to The Big Man Clarence Clemons on sax and Danny Federici on organ here.

Another born song is Born Again the title track from Black Sabbath's 1982 album. This was the first album after Dio left as lead singer. It's also the only album to feature former Deep Purple singer Ian Gillan. There is song on the album called Stonehenge and they used that for their stage show. A full sized version of the monument. I remember people saying that it was hard to see the band from certain angles. This also could be the inspiration for the Stonehenge debacle in This is Spinal Tap. That movie was based on all kinds of road stories of bands over the years.

I was going out with this guy P. for a few years when we decided to take a trip to the Bahamas. The place we stayed had a golf cart we used to go to the local grocery store. It went maybe 4 mph, tops. One day we went to get groceries, and we were crawling home at 4mph, being passed by everyone. There was a long silence and then P. suddenly starts singing, at the top of his voice "THE HIGHWAY'S JAMMED WITH BROKEN HEROES ON A LAST CHANCE POWER DRIIIIVE!!!!" and it was so damn funny I married the guy. Great reaction, trashies! Loved it as usual. XO

Springsteen ain't soft rock. He's heartland rock. He used to shred on his guitar in concert in the late seventies. (See "Prove It All Night" circa 1980). But he mostly focused on songwriting. For a taste of his epic skill with words also check out "Jungleland" from his Born to Run album. Also check out "The Rising" the song he wrote about 9/11. Some naysayers complain about his politics in recent years, but his politics is pure American and always has been.

Bruce was not considered soft rock, Just was known as Rock music.
In 1975 this Album captured an Audience that never faded away. You saw the SEA of Faces from a decade(s) later in the video content. The Boss Worked hard at his shows, giving his all with the E Streeters at his side, and that is how he became known as "THE BOSS
Sadly you will never know the Magic of coming up, and Rocking loud in those 70's.

This was fun back in the day, but I outgrew him! Actually, I think performers should learn to keep their mouths shut about political matters, which is what makes his and others music not as much fun to listen to. People like Neil Young, RHCP, and Green Day. I love their music, but it's a downer to listen to it anymore. Thanks for listening to my rant.
