Enjoyed that! I've travelled by the actual train several times, alighting at Llansamlet, my local station. You were actually a lot bolder about stopping at Skewen and Llansamlet than most drivers, they take it very carefully, especially the approach to Llansamlet. Thanks!
Hi PTGRail, if you're not aware of this already, the 175 has a cruise control. My experience is only based on the Dovetail model but it works very well and relieves a lot of throttle work when at high line speeds. It's the button underneath the break gage and works the same way as the 390 cruise control; press when at the desired speed. It holds the speed 0.5 MPH above the set speed but I suppose that wouldn't matter to you without the HUD. If you already knew about it, I wouldn't be surprised but if not, I hope it helps with driving. All the best, my friend. :)
I am aware of this, but in real life the cruise control is not used in service from what I understand. AP disabled it with the enhancement pack for this reason. Otherwise, it would be great to use as it would make driving a lot easier! :)
Really? I wonder why the manufacturer would fit their train with a cruise control the driver's not supposed to use? That's like me baking a cake and telling myself not to eat it! :D
just so you know, there are now poles along the side of the track until just past Cardiff Canton Depot, this is because network rail are currently installing Catenary!
Fair play a lot of these stations are pretty accurate, especially Pyle, incidentally most appropriate name for a place ever. It is the hemorrhoid on the bottom of South Wales known as Bridgend district, lol.
PTGRail there is only a train every 30min between London and Cardiff on Mondays - Fridays only. It is xx15 to Cardiff and xx45 to Swansea from London Paddington. Saturdays and Sundays it is just an hourly service between Paddington and Swansea. On Summer Saturdays the 0845 from London Paddington is extended beyond Camarthen to Pembroke Dock (Calling at: Whitland, Saundersfoot, Tenby, Manorbier, Pembroke and Pembroke Dock). It is called The Pembroke Coast Express.
The hill start button is the plus key on the numpad with the AP variant. Also at stations without clear stopping markers you must either stop at the next highest marker, so if you were in a two-car unit and there was a 3-car stop sign but no 2-car stop sign you would stop at the 3-car sign. Secondly if there is an S-car stop sign then all trains must stop there unless there is an overriding sign such as a 3-car stop sign or HST stop marker. At Skewen for instance there was an S-car stop sign at the very end of the platform and so that was the position to stop a train at. A thoroughly enjoyable video though. Can I ask, did you manage to complete this scenario on time, I've tried and keep ending up too late by about Pyle or Port Talbot and so I was wondering if the scenario has been scheduled too tightly or if I'm simply not driving aggressively enough. Thanks
Also the reason for the poorer acceleration at higher speeds is because the unit switches from the torque converter to the fluid coupling at 60 mph, you can hear this happen and observe the engine revs die down to about 1260 rpm and then rise in direct relation to the speed.
Thanks for all the info. Sometimes I think DTG miss out stop markers, as some of the stopping points in shorter trains seem illogical compared to where the platform entrances are located. I've not been able to pass this scenario, so I think the timing is too tight.
Hi, im from Newport, just wanted to inform you that the line that joins from the right at about 9:15 is the recently reopened Ebbw Vale Line which is served by I believe 1 train every 2 hours from Cardiff Central platform 0, usually a Pacer or Sprinter unit.
That's correct as I live in risca and it was a class 152 in arriva trains livery that used to go along that line. Now it's a class 170 in transport for Wales livery
Lovely video! Can't beat AP enhancements - the stock class 175 seemed like a lackluster performance from DTG (weak brakes, lacking sound effects and I've found the speed set control doesn't work properly - if you apply the brakes it applies full power!?)
I didn't. But I have certainly mentioned on a number of occasions why I haven't uploaded many videos. I am a full time student, I have a job, and I'm trying to have a social life too. This is just a hobby, and so unfortunately it comes at the back of the queue when trying to balance my time between all of my commitments and my social life.
I've always had a job, I work from home for a friend who has his own business. I used to do it full time until I started university, and then went down to part time hours. I've also now got a partner, and as I've discovered, relationships take up a lot of time! (For the good, I must say) :)
Love this video of the part of port talbot we are the biggest steel plant in South Wales maybe of uk also station new revamp been here for 2 years now in Time for ts17 dlc
Nice video mate, but you really need TRACK IR,because i think your fov is way too far back,i have mine set at around 60 fov, with TRACK IR,so as you can look around the cab,and windows and stuff.,Your fov looks as if you are sitting in the back seat, tunnel vision like,..
You know the day will be good when PTGRail uploads.
Twice :)

Thank you PGTrail
Anytime I struggle with something you always have the answers
I couldn’t figure that destination thing for ages
Automatically like before watching, always able to do this with PTG!
Thank you. The Class 175 is a fave of mine
Outstanding video as always. You are very well at what you do. Keep up the good work!

brilliant i`m hooked i think its on my christmas list, excellent narration and instruction
Most enjoyable looking forward to the next - Thanks.
Thanks David! The next video will be online soon :)
The DSD can also be answered with the standard Numpad Enter key :) Though you can use the E key if u want to play with 1 hand on the keyboard
I always use the E key with AP enhancements. I didn't realise you could still use numpad Enter :)
Yeah as far as I know it's only the 175 (haven't checked either hsts) that can be acknowledged with the Num Enter, the 91 doesn't though
Fair play a lot of these stations are pretty accurate, especially Pyle, incidentally most appropriate name for a place ever. It is the hemorrhoid on the bottom of South Wales known as Bridgend district, lol.
Welcome back!
Thanks, Qwerty! It looks like I'm here to stay again for the foreseeable future :p

Another great video Peter.
Thank you Roger, I hope you enjoyed it :)
The 2/3 car stop on Cardiff platform 3 is just before the end of the canopy. Where it says 4/5
Ahh I see, so the correct stopping point should be at the 4/5 sign?
PTGRail yes, its just DTG not checking before they do it, HSTs stop at the second light after canopy
Awesome video!
Thanks!

Great video, and of course the hst at platform 2 in Swansea, always there XD
Your game looks soo smooth
Great Video!
Are the missing speed boards after departing Newport (50MPH in tunnel and 75MPH under bridge) bugs in the route? If so have these been corrected?
Nice video. Have you tried out the new AP enhancement pack for the HST yet? :)
South West Trainspotting we can hope lol
The swansea station is so realistic.
Lovely video on one of my local routes. Will you be doing Swansea - Bristol Parkway in a HST?
i live on on the West Marches Line from Swansea to Manchester
Can you do a video in the Class 159?
Possibly in the future, if we have more places to run it then that would be ideal.
I go on the Atw class 175 between Hereford and carmarthen
I was watching some route learning videos earlier and genuinely thought "He should try a 175".
You wait a month for a train then two come along at once! 😁
With another one, maybe two coming along today ;)
PTGRail I look forward to them. 😁
Can you do C2C class 357
Unfortunately not as neither the train nor the route have yet been made for Train Simulator.
Awesome
Do you mention in the video about the lack of videos on the channel?
PTGRail I didn't know that you have a job now, but I knew that you are a full time university student Pete
I've always had a job, I work from home for a friend who has his own business. I used to do it full time until I started university, and then went down to part time hours. I've also now got a partner, and as I've discovered, relationships take up a lot of time! (For the good, I must say) :)
What type of business does your friend have Pete?
Love Your Vids Thx
