  • In this video I show you how to replace the rear quarter glass window seal that is built into the rear door.
Over time this seal crumbles away and becomes an eye store. It deteriorates in a similar way to the rear window seal and the front upper seal.
Plan for this to take a few hours and to have your car down for about a day.

Great video, after a break-in my right quarter window was smashed. Ordered parts and within one hour it was done. Saved some serious Euro's. Thanks!

The final piece of my jigsaw puzzle. I bought a used rear door from a breaker. It was a bare door but still had a tinted rear quarter glass. What a job to strip my old door of all the seals, lift motor and lock assembly. It came with tinted quarter glass so I needed to swap it for my clear original. I spent a long time puzzling until I found your video. Thanks very much.

Dude, you’re an AMAZING DIYer! Your information and knowledge behind why you do something is invaluable and honestly so very much appreciated. I’m one of those people that when asked to do something I say “Why?” Not to be an asshole but because I really want to know for what reason logically. That being said your painting/spaying of the plasti-dip was killing me to watch. Just in case you were curious as to why sprayers start and stop pressing the button. It’s so as to not create spotting on the piece they’re painting. You have to start and stop pressing that button PAST the piece not in the middle. You’ll either have dark and light contrasting color in the paint or texture that is unlike the rest. Just figured I’d let you know...Otherwise another fantastic diy. Thanks again

That would have been a perfect candidate to wrap the trim vs plastidip. Metrorestyling sells a nice semigloss 3M wrap cut specific for that job. Did mine a few ears ago and it’s still looking great. Maybe a future video when the plastidip gives up.

Just as an informative note, you can fully slide the chrome piece out, so you don't have to lift up and risk bending it.

Great video! I didn’t have this exact issue on my E90 but my entire window trim that runs from the rear quarter window to the front window needed to be replaced (the part you painted in the video). I can’t remember how much it cost but I think the part cost close to $200. Specifically the shorter piece that connects to the longer piece was falling off and it was definitely an eye sore!

Do you know how to remove the roof rack trim pieces, they run Front to Back, on each sides of the roof. One right above the drivers side doors and the other right between the passenger doors and the actual metal roof panel itself..
I dont know what they would be called, maybe roof rail trims.
They have the little access "doors" to get to the mounting point for the oem roof rack bars, they bolt into the threads in the roof of the car, theres 4 mounting points on the E90 & E92. All E90s, E91s, & E92 have them..
Anyway mine are oem style aluminum trim and its oxidizing alittle in spots if i dont keep up with the trim often, and plus id like to paint the plast dip black or just have them painted gloss black to match the body color of my car. But im sure theres a bunch of people out there with that same issue also. I couldn't tell in this video, of the condition of your Roof Rail Trim Pieces..

@@Bone4444 Yeah good idea. My local stealership wanted to charge me $500 on a bad turn signal socket. It was just a cheap bulb that lead melted onto the socket from arcing. I replaced the socket and bulb no problems since. They wanted to replace those 2 things and the housing too. Of course it wouldn't match the other side so then I would need it replaced also. SMH
