Zhou Shen is like a person who skipped pupurty. He is also a language genious (he can pick up a new language real fast). He is a perfect fit for songs like "Arrival of the Fairy Queen" or "when a child met an Angel" type of songs.
Because there was Chinese opera in the song, he went to a teacher to learn how to sing Chinese opera. Among the recommended songs are opera songs such as Brightness, Seeking Bosom Friend in Jiang-hu and Orchid Pavilion Preface.

My reaction when the female judge gave Shen Shen a negative mark for this audition: “dang, you are screwed Shen Shen! If this is not good enough to her, what can you possibly do better to please her? Maybe she just doesn’t like you because you are too good. 😐”. And yes, that show kind of reflected Charlie’s struggles in real life.. He always had to do extra work to prove his talent and worth as an artist.. and in the end on this particular show.. I was left in tears, all he did was still not enough to earn a place in the top. We are lucky that he never gave up no matter how harsh critics were to him. This man really sings with his heart and works incessantly to improve himself ❤

Zhou Shen's Time to say good bye version （in late 2018）is my favourite one ❤ He deserves our appreciation, treasure and love ❤ I remember that his ex agent had arranged other jobs for him & crashed with that tv show period. And that might hv explained why he's not been chosen to be the final six. Anyhow, thank God we can enjoy many different genre of music by Zhou Shen now and he's now one of the top China singers! it's very hard not to fall in love with Charlie after listening to him, and it's too hard not to love Charlie after watching his reality shows, talking, etc. He is a very funny and smart and hard-working and humble and sweet guy. BTW, I love "Concerto Pour Une Voix" so much, it must be angel singing! Hope it can get to your reaction list next time.

Time to say goodbye. It is such a beautiful song covered by Charlie. It is a bit heartbreaking, that’s was the time he was still not popular and tried so hard to win himself a chance just to perform, and it was still the period that “ everyone says I sang great, but when they come to a time to choose, none of them picks me.” Even with such a beautiful performance of “time to say goodbye”, he still fails the game…. We are so glad that Charlie has lived these through and now grows up as a super star.
I started watching him when he paired with hacken Lee and I’ve been obsessed since and I’m so glad he’s recognised for his talent, now I’m jus waiting for him to have a concert in uk 😅
I have a feeling you will have done the version with just the song. There are versions with Eng subs with his conversation with the judges before his audition which gives you insight to Zhou Shen. At this stage of his career, he was not confident. You can see it. He is surrounded by all these classically trained singers from internationally known music programs. At the same time, he had achieved some fame as a pop singer especially with his song DaYu which exploded on the scene as part of the movie soundtrack. Everyone had all these expectations. I thought the judges were more harsh with him on the show and you can see throughout the show how he struggled. All the guys loved him and his voice but each time ZS competed, he lost to others and felt he was letting down his team. He was in tears several times but shouldered through it. Thankfully, he smashed it with The Little Goatherd, which is why his fans are especially fond of that performance. It’s also touching to see how many of the more experienced singers took ZS under their wings and worked to build up his confidence. His growth from Super Vocal to Singer 2020 to Treasured Songs where he performs duets of treasured songs with different singers is amazing. His latest show, Circle of Sound was amazing and ZS shined as you have seen with Listen and Inflammable and Explosive. So many good songs/duets both tradition/classics and modern pop songs. His new album has been anticipated for 7years. His pre-released song Mirage is No 1 on the China music charts. He has 4 songs in the top 20 including Spring Snow and two music soundtracks. His album will be stunning I don’t doubt. New music video due on the 16th.

So many amazing singers, Dimash was at their final performance, I can’t remember if he was a judge or just a guest. Also Charlie wasn’t a new singer to them. His first public appearance in China was Huan Yuan on the Voice of China which I think you’ve seen. This competition is from 2019 so about 5 years ago, and I’d like to clarify the teacher in middle’s remarks. Zhou Shen is classically trained as a bell canto tenor (in uni) he was not however trained as a counter tenor. That’s the part he figured out on his own, so not completely from scratch, but amazing nonetheless. He really is one of the sweetest characters ever. He’s grown so much more confident over the years, it’s beautiful to see. If you need any more recommendations, I would suggest his impromptu duet of Lake Baikal with Li Jian( the original singer), as well as his cover of The Orchid Pavillion Preface, by Jay Chou (that’s the gentleman that wrote Nunchucks that you watch Hua Chenyu sing). I sadly can’t join you on morning lives cause I work. But I try to watch all of them in the evening. Thanks as always for your wonderful commentary. Shen Shen has said before, many complimented his voice & praised his singing skill but in the end, less chose him. We, Shengmi felt his loss and we didn't even understand when we got attacked by other fans that they support their idols but somehow put the blame on Shen Shen? Shen Shen is hardworking and keeps maintaining his solid foundation thru discipline. His efforts pay off now. Shengmi knows how many songs he sang last year. When we thought it's already a lot in the previous year, he set another record. He is always down-to-earth and sings like his last moment so that's why he can always deliver 💯
When Zhou Shen performs songs, he can always do it just right and arouse the listener's emotions, so listening to him singing will give you the feeling of being there.💕
