金箔を竹刀を用いて細く切り、金箔の糸をふのりで貼り付けてくことで文様を描く職人。文様を下書きせず素材に直接、金箔の糸を貼りシャープなラインで模様を描き出す。
Kirikaneshi (Gold cutter)
This artisan thinly cuts gold leafs with a bamboo knife to form a gold strand which is then applied with seaweed glue in the shape of motifs. This process is done without draft sketches and the sharp lines are drawn directly onto the surface.
