I did live with my oldest in 2020 (3 months) and it was a nightmare, I was thinking maybe closer proximity now, 14 years later might be nice..., *but maybe not!* Thanks! It's way different these days. My grandmother lived in a 'Mother-in-Law house behind my aunt & uncle, and she retained independence until the day she died. People (our kids) don't treat seniors and aging adults that way these days.
I live hundreds of miles away from all three of my kids and I like it that way. I am extremely independent and pretty much a loner in my golden years and need a lot of space, peace and privacy. They got 25 years of my youth, my golden years belong to me. At 87 years old, I've never asked them for anything and I have no intention of starting now.
