iPhone 15 Pro Max vs Galaxy S23 Ultra 90 Days Later - In this video, we dive deep into both phones, I share with you my experience and everything I think about them after an extended period! Share your thoughts, experiences, questions, comments, and enjoy the content :)
Owning and using both, I side with the S23U for its flexibility, ease of use, ability to set my own defaults, split screen, and the S-Pen. It comes down to personal preference and individual use case. Interestingly in my corner of the Engineering and Lab world, the dominate device is the S2X Ultra. Thanks for the review.
Nothing wrong with that it really does depend on your use cases and what you need the phone to do, I do think Samsung can improve ergonomics of the S23 Ultra though
ip15pm - iOS, better video, more natural pictures, better battery in video watching, louder speakers...but also ugly pill cutout, more expensive, worse screen S23u - Android, zoom, livelier speakers, small punch hole, cheaper, better screen design and color calibration, better gaming performance, much better multitasking...
In the end it all comes down to personal preference. I switched from 15 pro max to S23 ultra because of my work and I found S23 ultra way more productive. Both devices are amazing!
@@lol-ge9bh Agreed. But being aware that it is a preference, and not the truth, it's the key. A mindless sheep will just deny that an alternative is better. Nothing wrong with having a preference of brands. I have both iOS and Android.
The iPhone is so boring and so limited. Can't even download and change the ringtone nor download free movies on the internet. Also, there is no app to record calls. Has to pay $20 per month for that feature. Im missing out so much. Im gonna upgrade to Flip 6 when it comes out
I had a s22 ultra, and I hated it. Speakers like a 100$ phone to the poijt not only music and videos were not pleasant, but also calls, huge curves, slippery to hold, battery life with all perfect setup tops 7h SOT, and for some reason the spen wasnt smooth and I didnt use it at all. S23 ultra I have now is just....perfect!!! Speakers that sound better than iphone 15 pro max, battery life 10h SOT easy, and I use the spen maybe 40% of time now and when Im at home, maybe 80% of time. Screen is classified as curved, but the curves here are basically non existent in view. The s22u curves were apparent all the time viewing the screen andholding the phone. S23u I have to my eyes is basically a flat screen. There are 2 types of people with spen - those who use it and those who want a bigger battery in its stead. I never thought I would EVER use and prefer a pen to handle my device. I even learned to fast type with it! Scrolling pages and all the precision tasks are a breeze and combined with the top notch multitasking of one ui is sublime Id be happy with ip15pm, but I just hate them icons on top and the fugly pill notch
Great review! I own both. I can say this. They're both great phones. I prefer the S23 Ultra. I will have to say that the 15 Pro Max takes the sharper photos in some cases, but I'm sure the S24 Ultra will improve on Samsung's end. I actually carry them both, however if I'm carrying just 1 phone, 90% of the time it's the Ultra. I just enjoy the flexibility of Android better.
Hello Nick, great video as always. I prefer the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, even though I do not have it. Each phone, and its software's both have their own pros, cons and this depends on what the users prefer.
Been a lifetime android user and first time Iphone user, it’s nice and simple but a lot of times i miss the options to customize, and esp the swipe to back on all androids(ios is inconsistent with back and exits). While the video on the Iphone is a lot better than probably any android phone, 1 thing i miss on android phones is the option to pause while taking a video.
@@nourahkadri wait a few days for the s24 ultra. The main problem i have with most android phones is i dont like curved screens. Would have gone for the xperia 5 v though for the compactness. Haha
I have s23 ultra since March, that means from the very beginning of sales (in Croatia) and I have to say that 15 pro max is not a real competitor here (14 pro max is). 15 pro max has just been released (and real competitor will be s24ultra), and they are not on the same system. It simply all boils down to whether someone is, an android user or an iOS user. Some people don't want to try something new, so let's go with the iPhone. Otherwise, the s23 ultra is a great phone, much better than the s22 ultra that I had the opportunity to try and have for a short time. When the iPhone opens its system, maybe iPhone will be found at my collection :) (for now, only a tested iPhone).
I must say the s23u has been on my buy list for a while now and I think I’ll make the purchase in 4-5 months when they go down in price. Not upgrading my iPhone until they remove the stupid island and notch for a hole punch or better. (I have 13pm and s20u rn) so my Samsung definitely needs an upgrade because no android 14 and exynos is garbage.

Really don't get the resale thing. Apple is not better, yes you get more money than Samsung but you never pay the full price for a samsung phone when buying new. I got brand new S23 Ultra for £700 in summer with free buds which i sold bring it closer to £600. I will get most of my money back when i upgrade to S24 Ultra. Done this for years it never costs much to upgrade. With Apple i would be losing £300-£400 each year as price never drops. Always freebies and discount code with Samsung deals.
Galaxy phones would always hurt my eyes and that's why i switched to iPhone. I still love Galaxy so I just ended up using both but I use iPhone as my main. Less stress on my eyes
This is all his own opinion everyone has different opinion but the Samsung Galaxy S3 ultra has outshined the iPhone for quite a while and for quite more reasons the iPhone doesn't charge as fast if you have a 45 watt charger the Galaxy phone charges way faster than the iPhone the battery lasts more than 24 hours and you can still use power saver mode with 120 hertz. It's really all how you can figure your phone and just Samsung has a really good product and the overall operating system is a better experience in my opinion. But again if you're in a Samsung ecosystem use Samsung if you're an apple ecosystem use apple nowadays it's all relative and basically it's all in your perspective.
Is like Apple owns all youtubers. They just hate Samsung for no reason. Comparison should always be fair between all these phones without any biasness.
Have you tried an iphone? It seems like bias to me too, but I've literally not had an iphone since the iphone 4. So next one will be an iphone for me. If I don't like it and have to sell it? Well it retains value more, so I can just sell it.
I’ve owned both, I like both, however the last man standing for me is the 15 Pro Max, I ended up trading the S23 Ultra for the OnePlus Open. But recommend either phone really, just based on your OS preference. My only take is that, Android wearables… are mediocre, so that diminishes my experience with the S23 Ultra.
@@aby5964 I have a Galaxy Watch 6 Classic lol doesn’t even touch the Apple Watch Ultra or any Apple Watch tbh. I’ve owned the Galaxy Watch 5 as well. Limited apps and just not as snappy as the Apple Watches.
The thing is that Samsungs other offerings like their watches, tablets, computers, and even headphones aren’t even in the same stratosphere as Apple. The phone is literally the only thing they compete in. That’s why I prefer Apple. I like how connected everything feels. So much so that when you’re at home, you really wouldn’t even need to pick up your smart phone.
@kingbucketz182 nope their tablets and earphones (which are rated better than airpods pro 2 except for anc) are touted as the best in the android sphere.

@@vikinnorway6725 thats true with optimized smoother mostly but not the display cmon, did u even see how saturated and bright s23 is and iphone dimms after few mins so meh nope
@@justrose4905 samsung allways oversaturated, iphone display allways wins in color accuracy. The iphone display also gets brighter than s23u. And yes like he said, eyes get tiered of looking at samsungs display..
Apple's doing the Notch thing for years, even the latest 15 pro still got a big unwanted notch that they call it " the Dynamic island" UA-camr has always said that oh it's because of security the secure unlocking n blabla, But when Google did the same with the Pixel 3xl, that's when UA-camrs even used thumbnails like "Shadow of the notch" " Notch city" (mkbhd) that's offensive.
I really disklike how the dynamic island blocks the screen coz it is big. But one thing I like about the display in iOS is how the icons look. Yes you can customize icons in Samsung phones but it takes hours to find one that you atleast like.
This days later video really goes for the iPhone so sad you talked against s23ultra and it's been a year now since it came out and it has held up really well. Be fair enough, thanks ma Gee.
He did give props to both if you watched the video, and theese phones are 6 months apart. But the last 3 years phones has not change alot, last 3 models are all great
S23 Ultra > * As far as value, as long as you keep the Ultra or trade-in back to Samsung you are golden. Apple knows how to play its sheep for value, like a stock of a company.
What happens if you have an S23 Ultra and want to switch to another brand? That's where you run into a loss. Samsung almost forces you to stay with them with those high trade in values because they can't be beat, but Apple does similar things with their ecosystem locking you in a not playing nice with other products
@@nickackermanchannel Here in Croatia, you can go to the service provider and exchange your Samsung for a prepaid extension for the brand you want, you paying off both the mobile phone and the service (24 months).
@@nickackermanchannel Why would I downgrade from an S23U to an iPhone 15 Pro Max? iMessage? FaceTime? That's the real question. The S23U can EVERYTHING an iPhone can do and more. You can't say that about an iPhone. And now it has no physical SIM? I dumped the iPhone 15 Pro, and went back to a 12 Pro while keeping my S23U. I'd never be without an S23U or any flagship Android really.
@@WololoWololo2 I hope! But I'm waiting to see if Samsung is integrating satellite connectivity, and just how intrusive the Galaxy AI is to the mobile experience. I'm not a fan of either one. Otherwise I'm holding on to my S23U and S23.
I agree on everything, but especially on the fact that the iPhone is less straining on the eyes thanks to the true tone and more natural colors. This is important for those who use their smartphones a lot. Congratulations on the video and the in-depth content.
I also felt this when i switched to iPhone. It’s so much easier to focus on distant objects after looking at the phone for long time. Like it is much more comfortable for the eyes.
Samsung has same feature as trutone and has that blue light filter feature so you can customize all you want and you can turn off vivid mode if you don't like it and just use the natural or even customize the rgb and warm or cold color tone ratio.. The only thing wrong is PWM other than that the Samsung display and customisation is better..

2K? Dude we need 8K in 2024, come on guys Samsung used to rule in technology Samsung phones were way ahead of even their top tier TVs! S24 Ultra definitely needs 8K display! Lots of Desktop monitors now has 8K!
🤔 If you hold onto your Samsung and trade it back to Samsung for a new Samsung, your Samsung has GREAT value. Samsung's trade-ins are usually far superior to Apple's.
I like my 15 pro max coming from XS max. Took me a while to get use to the weight as the XS max was much lighter. I still think the 15 pro max needs improvements with scrolling in 120hz on some apps. And animation can glich sometimes if your swiping up on apps to close them really fast.
Even Samsung is not changing that much. So I don’t get why everyone hates on Apple?! I have had both and honestly if I was going to go Android, I would look at the Google pixel. The S23 Ultra is just too big to keep in pocket. You might as well carry a tablet with you! I have 14 pro max as it is 6.7 inches and if the pro max is going to go 6.9 on the next pro model, that will be getting like the S23. My brother had an S23 and I compared sizes and it still is way too big.
And you make it seem like a inch is smaller to carry for the pro max. Samsung doesn't change much but it's the customization. Being able to have your own folder instead of apple literally add your app to a folder. It's the freedom. I have plenty of app on my phone that if I had a iPhone. I would not be able to get them on IOS unless it's jailbreak.
iPhone apps work great until they don’t. I found interactions like selecting a date in an email to make an event or prompts to make a task only open Apple apps. Even if another browser is your default, “web search” still opens Safari and always appears first. Don’t get me started on how unintuitive managing contacts is on iPhone or how ‘battery optimization’ does not work.
There's no point using other browsers on IOS. They all use the same Safari webkit. They are basically Safari with a reskin. Nothing like the original browsers. Hence why you can't get uBlock Origin on Firefox on IOS, but can on Android.
I have the 15 Pro Max due to family and friends. HOWEVER, if I'm not stuck to this ecosystem, I would definitely go for the S23 Ultra. It's a gazillion times better than what I'm using right now.

It's really all how you can figure your phone and just Samsung has a really good product and the overall operating system is a better experience in my opinion. But again if you're in a Samsung ecosystem use Samsung if you're an apple ecosystem use apple nowadays it's all relative and basically it's all in your perspective.

I won't lie Samsung is cool but apple is way cooler apps looks much better on apple than Samsungs ❤
Which apps?
Is like Apple owns all youtubers. They just hate Samsung for no reason. Comparison should always be fair between all these phones without any biasness.
Have you tried an iphone? It seems like bias to me too, but I've literally not had an iphone since the iphone 4. So next one will be an iphone for me. If I don't like it and have to sell it? Well it retains value more, so I can just sell it.
It's worth it man. I've got an iPhone 14 and have been very impressed with it.@@hobosnake1
@@hobosnake1have you tried an Samsung Z Fold 5??
btw the samsung is 1750 nits bright and the iphone 2000nits so iphone is much brighter, idk what you talking about
Even though I use an iPhone I find Samsung is more fun to use. I once had a Samsung tablet so I have a lil experience with it
I’ve owned both, I like both, however the last man standing for me is the 15 Pro Max, I ended up trading the S23 Ultra for the OnePlus Open. But recommend either phone really, just based on your OS preference.
My only take is that, Android wearables… are mediocre, so that diminishes my experience with the S23 Ultra.
Probably you have not used watch 5 pro or buds 2 pro with your S23U
Try Huawei watch ultimate... galaxy watch Is really mid , but Huawei watch.. It surpasses apple watch especially in battery life

Facts because if I was at Apple Tech fanboy, I’ll not buying Androids or tablet, but iPhones and iPads only
Iphone 15 pm beats it in most areas. Batterylife, ergonomic. Apps. Optimized. Smoother. Brighter. Lists goes on. S23u is great but no its not better than 15pm.. maybee the s24u will be, we will soon find out.
Android fanboys going around calling everyone that dont think the s23u is the best phone ever fanboys. Lol. 15pm won all tests against the s23u
The s23 ultra is still superior , i added an s pen stars wars light saber sound effect
1:13 maybe more like "Apple knows that all tech UA-camrs are fanboys"
so what to worry about!?
Apple's doing the Notch thing for years, even the latest 15 pro still got a big unwanted notch that they call it " the Dynamic island" UA-camr has always said that oh it's because of security the secure unlocking n blabla, But when Google did the same with the Pixel 3xl, that's when UA-camrs even used thumbnails like "Shadow of the notch" " Notch city" (mkbhd) that's offensive.
@@user-pt1qe2qq8k I totally agree with you
I really disklike how the dynamic island blocks the screen coz it is big. But one thing I like about the display in iOS is how the icons look. Yes you can customize icons in Samsung phones but it takes hours to find one that you atleast like.
S23 ultra is better
This days later video really goes for the iPhone so sad you talked against s23ultra and it's been a year now since it came out and it has held up really well. Be fair enough, thanks ma Gee.
I have been fair, I gave S23 Ultra props all year long
He did give props to both if you watched the video, and theese phones are 6 months apart. But the last 3 years phones has not change alot, last 3 models are all great
S23 Ultra > *
As far as value, as long as you keep the Ultra or trade-in back to Samsung you are golden.

I prefer the S23U. iOS is still about 10 years behind all the other OS out there.
Turn on "Natural Mode" in Display settings and you got yourself default iPhone setting
Hey nick, i thought to buy s23 plus or wait s24 plus... There are no difference between these two. I don't use camera to much or heavy gaming ... Just a movie consumer ... Display is the main reason wait for s24 plus cause in s23 plus resolution us 1080p but i need at least 2k hope 24plus will come it romour said.... Waiting for your review... Have a great day....
Yes I believe waiting for that 2K might be a worthy decision they shouldn’t have gone to 1080 ever on the plus side
Yeah seems like some apps aren't taking advantage of the 120hz refresh rate
@@fakedazzleful seems minor reason
it's going 6.9 inch, but it's only growing vertically. It shouldn't be that big of a deal. It should feel very similar in hand to the current pro max.
I have Z Fold 5 on my pocket the Samsung Z Fold 5 is so small for me
I measure them as stand alone devices. The S 23 Ultra crushes iPhone every time
S23U is the best in all

iPhone apps work great until they don’t.
Well as for me I. Was able to unlock my iPhone 12 with malik_recovery

There's no point using other browsers on IOS. They all use the same Safari webkit. They are basically Safari with a reskin. Nothing like the original browsers. Hence why you can't get uBlock Origin on Firefox on IOS, but can on Android.
I agree with the resale value Apple vs Samsung, but i do prefer my wifes 23ultra over my 14 pro max.

Pls compare the 15 Pro Max to the S24 Plus too, not just the Ultra, since they're very similar design and size wise.
