Oh how special. My husband recorded this off TV in the '90s. It is my favorite performance of The Messiah. They were on tour in Holland.
The voices are absolutely the best in the world.The choir is so well trained and makes the piece sound easy to sing.One expects the orchestra to be good which it was,Perfect blend of all parts.

As a Handel’s “Messiah” lover, I previously focusing on “Hallelujah” Chorus but neglected “A Child is Born to us”! This excellent performance woke me up to enjoy such a nice piece!

Isaiah 9:2-7 is one of my favourite Bible verses. It's the one that begins "The people who walked in darkness
Have seen a great light;
Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death,
Upon them a light has shined."
The verse 6 says:
"For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
I know it’s so cool how this piece has pure scripture as it’s words! I’m a violinist so I hope to perform this one day!

Qué tiene que ver la música de Handel entre la separación de la iglesia romana de la de los protestantes. Esta música forma parte del Mesias. Esa obra solo puede ser odiada por los Testigos de Jehová que desde luego son miembros de una secta pseudocristiana. Porque como puedo autoplocramarme Cristiano cuando niego la naturalidad divina de Jesús. Para el resto del cristianismo El Mesías está basado únicamente en lo que dice en la Biblia. Por tanto esta obra musical es patrimonio de todo el cristianismo, sin importar a qué orientación respondés.

The moment I searched for Handel's Messiah "oratorio" video on this day (9/18/23)for my class in MAPEH (Music) Music of the Baroque Period I came across this video "For Unto Us a Child is Born" and instantly fell in ❤with the song and the choristers' voices. While letting my students listen and watch this video, they realized that the music of the past still existed in the present worthy to be appreciated. Handel's The Messiah is superb. So thank you so much I watched the video many times.

I recorded (on VHS) this whole performance of the Messiah at least 4 times year after year in the 1990's when it was first released and shown annually on American TV back then. I still watch it several times a year, and this piece is my favorite.
