Hi mamas! Thank you for watching today! I would love to know your thoughts on sharing curriculum I come across but don’t use vs. only sharing things I personally use. ❤ Let me know what you prefer! ❤
Thanks for sharing; I’ve eyed LLATL in the past :) I do prefer videos of curriculum you actually use. I started following you for CLE inspiration. That’s what we used and it doesn’t get much love on UA-cam :)
Share both 😊 You’ve worked hard to earn the perk of sharing free curricula with your viewers. It helps me navigate which style of curriculum I want to spent money on.
I enjoy seeing all different curriculum and always find it so helpful when homeschooling mamas compare it to what they currently use- how it might be similar, how it might be different, etc. and share their thoughts on who might enjoy using it or who it may not be a good fit for! Thank you for the video!
We’ve used LLATL for 2 years now between 2 kids and just love it. We’ve completed the red book (2nd), yellow book (3rd), purple book (5th) and tan book (6th). We love that it’s simple, to the point and no fluff. And of course that all the learning comes from real literature. 💛
I prefer things you use. I like to know how you like them.😊But this is good too. I’ve been thinking about trying LLATL next year actually. But for 5th grade. I just started a homeschool focused UA-cam channel too! I have been watching homeschooling channels for years and thought I would share what we are up to as well! 🤷🏻♀️ Thanks for being a great channel that I come back to all the time. ❤
I am using the McGuffey readers for extra reading practice, and the Yellow Book for Language Arts for my 3rd grader this year! We are using the Building Writers by Handwriting Without Tears for a writing curriculum, and then once we complete that book he is going to write his own hardcover book by drafting it first and working on his art, completing it with all of the skills that he learned through the year. He’s extremely excited about writing his book and has already started thinking of ideas for it and has practiced drawing, so I’m hoping that excitement helps propel him through the lessons. 😊 as always love your videos ❤❤
I am considering this for my 3rd grader this fall. You mentioned that you do need the teacher manual. Could you elaborate a little? From what I see in the student workbook, I am wondering what additional resources might be in the teacher manual that make it necessary.
That looks interesting the one problem I have with it is as a Christian a lot of their literature has magic in it. Like Alice and wonderland. The Bible is against all forms of magic and that’s including in movies and books. I came out of witch craft of 17 years almost six years ago and I can spot that stuff out super fast such as frozen! The devil even makes children stuff look innocent and it’s not. Now this program doesn’t have those types of books until the little older grades. When I saw this video I had to look through all the grade . I like charlotte mason in some methods but I can’t believe her part on books needing to be so interesting and magical for children to enjoy reading. That’s not true. My daughter loves the good and beautiful books they have good character in them. That’s what matters is character and teaching that. Not some magic thing and then your child acts that out and now it’s stuck in their minds. We have to be so careful what goes in there because the devil is a lion and ready to pounce. Cle is great we tried it but was so advanced for us and wayyyy too much book work and I had to mark out a lot and I didn’t like that. Scales back to good and beautiful mixed with masterbooks. We alternate between the two. That’s the beauty of homeschool we have. Masterbooks is all Bible based. Love it! I pray that you and your family are blessed with schooling!
Praise God that God saved you out of dark arts. I do want to offer another perspective from a Christian mom who loves classic lit and God books. One of my favorite authors CSLewis has written the Narnia books which are full of magic and imaginary creatures as a beautiful allegory to our Lord. I've always had our focus on the truth of the Bible and that gives us the freedom to analyze and enjoy good literature with magic. There's so much rich comparisons to Biblical truth. Even my youngest understand the difference. I think that keeping my kids from movies and focusing on books has helped their imaginations as well. There's a difference in reading Peter Pan versus watching a movie. Of course if God is leading you away from literature which references imaginary magic etc then He knows best. But trust that your children are saved Christians and your faith and Biblical teaching will have more influence over classic literature with magic references. I'm more focused on avoiding modern woke junk, shows and movies. I also lean away from books by TGaTb because they are a Mormon company. While i don't see anything antithetical to God...it's so watered down that it makes the true Bible seem so dull.
I’m loving your curriculum picks ! I have started using the McGuffey’s and we are loving it. However I just have the first book. Where did you buy your books?
Hello! I am a new homeschool mom and I was debating whether starting the yellow book or mcguffey readers for my “3rd grader”/8 year old for language arts. Would it make sense doing both of these or would that be an excessive amount of language arts?
I would probably stick with one for LA. If you wanted to incorporate both, you can use the Yellow Book for LA and use the McGuffey readers for extra reading practice/comprehension. ❤️

There are so few reviews on LLATL on UA-cam so I appreciate this video even if you aren't using it yourself.

Megan, do you feel like you need to add another spelling/vocabulary book? I'm look at the red or yellow book. Thanks.

We use the 5th grade now and love it!!

Thank you so much for sharing your insight! ❤️
Yes, that is the best and most beautiful part of homeschooling.
Blessings to you as well! ❤️

We love them so much! ❤️
I bought mine from Thrift Books, Mercari, and EBay.
Yay. I love your curriculum picks. Can’t wait to see the rest. Are you still using Cle math for the upcoming school year?
Yes! I will be doing my curriculum 2024-25 videos soon!
Do you know the curriculum by simply Charlotte Mason spelling and language one? If so how would this compare to it?
I have heard of it, but haven’t seen it. ❤️
Are you using this in the fall?
No, this was just a fun thrifted find I wanted to share. ❤️❤️❤️

Is there a reason you wouldn’t just use the mcguffeys for all your LA purposes?
I use the McGuffey’s for about 85-90% of our LA. This video was just a flip through of a curriculum I found thrifted. ❤️
@@oursweetiebirdshome ok gotcha! They both look amazing regardless. We use mcguffeys now LLATL looks great too and has caught my eye before
@@cheshathompson5740Yes! Both programs are so beautiful! ❤
Do you not use cle anymore, or do you just use it up to 3rd grade.
We are still using CLE Math and a soft version of CLE LA. I’ll be sharing more of how we are using the LA in some upcoming videos. ❤️
