  • Having a passion for renewable energy and the environment, Will has decided to complete his Solo Non Stop sail as the first person to do so without carrying or using any fossil fuels throughout the voyage and making his boat carbon neutral or carbon negative.
Will aims to become the first person to sail around the world non stop solo without carrying or using any fossil fuels for the voyage. He also is working towards making the boat carbon neutral or carbon negative.
Every item on the boat will be run from electricity that has been gathered from either solar panels or hydrogenation technology attached to the boat.
Although people have completed solo navigations with electric engines they have always carried back up generators and gas to cook. Will plans to go one step further and remove all fossil fuels and any temptation to use them.
He will be using products on the boat which are able to be recycled and repurposed, and products that don’t harm the environment.

    A little bit about us...
We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream!
Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia.
We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way.
Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is!
As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream.
We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it.

Imagine the millions of sailors who sailed before 19th century watching this video.
    They would be bewildered.
They would ask, "What's fossil fuel?"

You are probably right. The yacht “Ya” has been around the world fossil free, we made an interview with them a few years ago. Cheers

@@SailingOceanFox I often think about how dependent we are on electricity nowadays and even the internet. I think of the people who were born in Europe before the 19th century listening to us complain that ukrainians lack electricity and natural gas to survive the winter. Or sailors who lack fossil fuels. Throughout almost all of human history, humans have survived just fine without such things. But nowadays, we can't imagine living without them. Thanks for the video!

ANOTHER SELFISH WHITE POLLUTER -- Sailing thousands and thousands of pounds of plastic, epoxy poison through the oceans is an environmental CRIME as it is leaking it all over and appearing in the liver of fish. THIS IS A DISGRACE!!!! We need to ban any oil based plastic based fake materials from crossing oceans. That stuff leaks micro plastic into the oceans and pollutes the livers of fish. Nothing is better than natural renewable wood products or metal. That sailboat will leak over 100 lbs of plastic and chemicals into the ocean during its crossing. The sails will pollute this planet for 10,000 years. He would be much better off using a steel or tree based boat and using natural energy based on the sun's oil. 100 percent of the output from the Sun's natural oil energy is absorbed into the trees, plants and soil from which it originally came. Chemical based "batteries" do not. This is another "white man" disgrace and killer of the planet. Should be arrested for his crime.

@@michaeltca3103 I spoke with a marine biologist on this very subject. How damaging are our GRP boat to the ocean. His answer was they are not as bad as you would think, so long as they are disposed of properly at the end of their life. Their life is very long as most GRP boats that have been built are still sailing around. I would focus more on the plastic trash that finds it way in to the oceans and gets heaped up on the windward beach’s around the world. A brisk walk along a windward coast is mind blowing. The single use plastic is everywhere and needs to be addressed, still. Could I suggest you put your efforts in to this and then come back to focusing on yachts in a few decades.

@@SailingOceanFox ..he is incorrect and the answer is trite and silly "they are not as bad as you would think"... lol. There is 40,000 lbs of fiberglass/plasic/chemicals and toxic lead in a 50 foot sailboat that will last upwards of a 100,000 years as it leaches out more chemicals than any other man made device. Let me repeat that. That is no other thing made by man that has a greater mass of chemicals and poisons all in one place and bleeding into the environment. No car, truck, plane, house, building, machine etc is worse. So if that is what your marine biologist meant by "not so bad", then OK. But in my book it is pretty damn bad. Now the wako "green" fools want to take out an engine that runs on the suns natural earth fuel and replace it with 1000 lb chemical/lithium battery together with toxic made solar cells as they preen "look at me mom, I am so green".. Great. Just great. Not sure how it can get worse.

I don't think Will is going to generate 1.5 Mega Watts from his solar!!! More like 1.5 Kilo Watts! But I wish him all the best anyway as I agree the electrification of boat systems is fascinating.

@@gregoryh4601 ...solar means batteries that are massive pollution. A single small AA battery polutes 1 acre of land and soil when disposed. Imagine what a 1000lb lithium battery would do. We are going to have hundreds of million of 1000 and 2000lb batteries polluting our country side soon. At least with regular cars they simply rust away back into nature. Fiberglass last at least 100,000 years as it leeches off chemicals and poisons everywhere from the land to the sea. Their idiot lithium batteries and the chemicals in solar cells will haunt this land forever. Oil and gas are natural earth based materials and cause no damage at all since it is what large parts of earth are made of.
