Even in 1 local language, it have so many different dialects.
Can anyone learn these 711 languages?
@MajapahitEagleLeader 711 it's a local language, the local language is only used in that area not used to leave the area, if they leave the area they mostly use indonesian.
but sometimes we can speak other ethnicities, it depends on the social circle.
Betul bang 😂👍
Betul sekali, itulah warisan kekayaan kita...Mari kita jaga.
For Filipinos, Bahasa Indonesia was one of the favorite language because some of these languages of Indonesia beside Bahasa Indonesia are similar as Filipino Languages including in Sulawesi 😊😊
In Sulawesi, most of the languages are part of Philippine Language Family like Minahassan, Sangirese, Tongsawan, Gorontalo, etc.
Trivia:Sangirese is one of the languages in Indonesia that also spoken in the Philippines, majority in Mindanao like in Davao Region such as Davao Occidental and in Central Mindanao particularly Sarangani and South Cotabato 😊😊
For me, I love Indonesia so much and aside Bahasa Indonesia, I want to learned some Regional Languages in Indonesia like Javanese and Sundanese so with all my heart, I hope to see you in Indonesia next year and I will be waiting for you 😊😊
Note:My birthday is September 24 so my wish to learned Bahasa Indonesia more but in person particularly at the Embassy of Indonesia in Makati City or in any language schools available Bahasa Indonesia anywhere 😊😊
Greetings from Calamba City Laguna in the Philippines 🇵🇭💕🇮🇩

“To eat” in several Indonesian languages:
- Indonesian: makan
- Javanese: ꦝꦲꦂ (dhahar)
- Sundanese: ᮒᮥᮃᮀ (tuang)
- Bugis: ᨆᨋᨛ(anré)
- Balinese: ᬗ᭄ᬭᬬᬸᬦᬂ (ngrayunang)
Mind you, all of these examples come from Austronesian languages, which share a common origin. Contrary to what’s being claimed here in this video, Indonesia’s linguistic diversity isn’t due to foreign influences-it has existed for millennia. The country's 700+ languages are a mix of both Austronesian and non-Austronesian languages, with non-Austronesian languages making up a significant portion.
Foreign influences have added to our vocabulary, but they didn’t contribute to the creation of new languages. Indonesia's size and geographical range-comparable to the distance between London and Tehran-ensure its natural diversity, culturally, linguistically, and ecologically. It’s the only place on earth where you can find both tigers and tree kangaroos!

But the great thing is, even though we have our own regional languages, when we gather we are united by the Indonesian language.
Very true. During Soempah Pemoeda in 1928, they foresaw that bahasa Indonesia would be the unifying language of this archipelago. So proud of being Indonesian.
from 700 languages, almost 300 of them are from Papua. Because of Papua topography makes them hard to travel back then, interaction between villages/tribes rarely happened. That's why every villages/tribes have their own language

Nope, some of these are just dialects, and over time some languages are starting to become extinct because there are fewer speakers

Wwowww
Depends how they're counted
That's why indonesia can't be compared to another neighbor country, not to meant indonesia is higher position but just different level of diversity and almost 300 million indonesian live in it, just don't compare, and to another SEA country don't degenerate indonesia to become like your country, indonesia is most unique country amongs SEA country, if someone pissed one name indonesia, so many native ethnic will be offended, not only javanese, but sundanese, bataknese, dayaknese, malaynese, bugisnese, balinese etc, and in papua there is many ethnicity in it, so don't degenerate indonesia to be like your country
Bahasa Indonesia was first mentioned in 1928, about 17 years before Indonesians proclaimed their independence. It is not a Malay variant but developed mainly from Riau Malay and absorbed more loanwords both foreign and local languages.
So, our forefather developed the new languages and renamed it first for political reason before we even have our independence.
I am born and grown in Jakarta from Javanese parents so Bahasa Indonesia is my first language. Local Batavia Malay is my second language. English is my third language. Javanese is my fourth language. And I can understand a little bit of Sundanese, Arabic, and Mandarin.
Yes it is. Here's what the Wikipedia says.
"It is a standardized variety of Malay, an Austronesian language that has been used as a lingua franca in the multilingual Indonesian archipelago for centuries"
In short, Indonesians have been brainwashed from preschool for not saying it's a variety of Malay.
Hence, almost no Indonesian wants to say it's a variety of Malay.
That's why it's called a descendant of the Malay language.
Makanya disebut keturunan bahasa Melayu.
@@AlfarrisiMuammar I agree for calling it descendant of Malay.
The name "Malayu" comes from the Malayu Kingdom which once existed in the Batang Hari River area, Jambi, Riau, SUMATRA, INDONESIA.
During its development, the Malay Kingdom finally submitted and became subordinate to the Sriwijaya Kingdom. [16] The use of the term Malay also spread outside Sumatra, following the territory of the Srivijaya kingdom which extended to Java, Kalimantan and the Malay Peninsula.
According to the Laguna Copperplate Inscription, Malay traders had traded throughout Southeast Asia, also bringing Malay culture and language to the region. Malay finally became the language of instruction replacing Sanskrit. [17] The era of the glory of Srivijaya was a golden era for Malay civilization, including during the Syailendra Dynasty in Java, then continued by the Dharmasraya Kingdom until the 14th century, and continued to develop during the Malacca Sultanate [18] [19] [20] before the kingdom was conquered by the Portuguese military forces in 1511.
The entry of Islam into the archipelago in the 12th century was well received by the Malay community. Islamization did not only occur among ordinary people, but had become a characteristic of the governance of the Malay kingdoms. Among the kingdoms The kingdoms were the Sultanate of Johor, the Sultanate of Perak, the Sultanate of Pahang, the Sultanate of Brunei, the Sultanate of Langkat, the Sultanate of Deli, and the Sultanate of Siak, even the Karo Aru Kingdom also had a king with the title of Malay. The arrival of Europeans caused the Malay nation to spread throughout the archipelago, Sri Lanka, and South Africa. In the diaspora, they had many positions in a kingdom, such as harbormaster, cleric, and judge.
In the next development, almost all of the Nusantara region was directly influenced by the Malay nation. The Malay language that developed and was used by many people in the Nusantara was finally chosen as the national language in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei..

Indonesia has always been considered to belong to the 'Alam Melayu' by its next-door neighbors. Here Melayu is the name of a tribe that is equal to other tribes in Indonesia. We have difficulty communicating between tribes if there is no Indonesian language. therefore stop making the tribes in Indonesia as Melayu. Because they have their own culture and language. Start respecting and appreciating each other.
Budak in melayu language is the sama meaning in sundanese. I can speak sundanese because it has many similarities with indonesian (Melayu) language.
@@pocophone2010 Similar words doesn't mean the same tribe. For example, the word dahar means to eat in Sundanese and Javanese. In relation to my writing above with the word example just now. The ethnic groups in Indonesia respect each other, even though there are similarities we do not claim each other's culture. In fact, we will defend the culture of one ethnic that is threatened by foreign. Because that is bhineka tunggal ika. Let us respect each other's culture. 💪

Latin gave birth to several Romance languages, which are groups of languages that developed from Latin. Some of the major languages derived from Latin include:

Foreign language that influence Indonesian language is not just Dutch. We also borrow many words from other languages such as: Sanskrit, Arabic, Hokkien Chinese, Portuguese, and English.
Javanese, Balinese, and other languages mostly derived from Austronesian language. But the script, many of it were Brahmin script, influenced by Pallawa script from India. That’s the era when Hinduism and Budhism spread accross the island, and Sanskrit adopted into the culture.
At Islam era, Javanese kingdom also adopted Arabic script to write the language. But after independence, influenced by the Dutch, now we use Latin script.

Unity in Diversity
Because
1. Sea
2. Tropical forest
3. Human migration
4. Lack of centralization
Think of the sea like express highway, it's connect far away people while separating the nearby. Add tropical forest that made land transport pretty much unreliable before modern technology. It really make minor isolation way stronger. Indonesia also in the middle of trade and human migration route, making lot of people come and go. It's also really hard to control region with above limitation so ruler and administrative generally rule with light touch. Hence localism generally preserved.

Bahasa Indonesia is necessity for Indonesian, without it you will not be able to communicate with most people.
Bahasa Indonesia, derived from Melayu Riau/Riau Malay in Sumatra Island was choosen back in 1928 by our founding fathers due to its neutrality and common acceptance as "lingua franca" at that time, and has been grown dan developed to include dutch, india, arabic, portuguese, and local (javanese, sundanese, etc) words since then.

We are an example of diversity
FIY: INDONESIAN Language formed in 1928 to initiate official national Language by Indonesian Youth from all over the indonesian Archipelago
A little correction, it didn't start in 1945, but Indonesian was introduced to unite the nation since 1928, at that time the Indonesian youth swore to unite and aspired to form a nation called Indonesia, this event is known as "Hari Sumpah Pemuda (Youth Pledge Day)" which occurred on 28 October 1928.

then you move to another city, still in same province, they speak differently from previous one.

why so different? make the Example that on the island there's only "Toba language", and then they spreads to the near south like Mandailing and Simalungun that still can speaks or exchange the verbs/language each other.
And then they also spreads to North, with long travel/mountainous region or high plateau place like Karo, because of the highest place, and long journey, they cannot exchange their language/verbs to the Toba or south, so instead they're making their verbs, or changing the accent. like:
what's your name?

A correction, the official use of Bahasa Indonesia did not start post independence.
Instead, Indonesian youth groups from various ethnic and organizational backgrounds gathered in a Youth Congress in 1928 which resulted in the Sumpah Pemuda (lit. The Youth's Oath).
Sumpah Pemuda agreed on three points, that the Indonesians youths;
1. of one single homeland, the homeland of Indonesia (Tanah Air Indonesia)
2. of one single nation, the nation of Indonesia
3. uphold the language of unity, the Bahasa Indonesia.
This declaration is put on an official document and provides the main foundation of proliferation of Bahasa Indonesia becoming the official lingua franca among the ethnic Indonesians ever since.

So even though we all have different local languages, we can always be united by 1 main language, Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian Language).
Sebenarnya masih banyak lagi bahasa daerah di Indonesia, hanya saja ada bahasa yang mulai punah dikarenakan penyturnya yang sydah mulai berkurang.
*SEKADAR INFORMASI tentang BAHASA INDONESIA :*
------------‐-----------‐---------------------------------

Indonesia is Trully Asia
Noooooo
Hell noooo
Don't plagiarisme
Unity in Diversity is already great
The Philippine Islands and Indonesia are actually separate we are Asia cuz a same culture while eastern Indonesia is true Oceania
Wrong, Indonesia has 717 local language that spoken nowadays. Before, some decades ago, there are more than 720 local languages. This number still increase because most of its languages are spoken by isolation tribes.
That is just local language, not including foreign languages like Mandarin, English, Russian, French, Thai, Korean, Arabic, etc which also spoken widely here.
Omg 711 language, amazing
papua new guinea number 1? i think most of them are just accent differences, not languages. but counted as languages. because the country that has real language differences is INDONESIA.
PAPUA new guinea is only 1 big island, and automatically it will not be possible to have more languages than indonesia which has 5 large and main islands.
2:51 why isn't the scripts widely used?
I will answer your question, because your profile picture uses the Indian flag 🇮🇳.. Hope you get a notification about my answer.. Let's start the story n enjoy..
𝟳𝘁𝗵-𝟵𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝘆 (𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂-𝗕𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗘𝗿𝗮𝘀)
2:35 It was the "𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘃𝗮 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁".. At that time, 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮 was in the 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘃𝗮 𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘆 era.. They developed a writing system called the Pallava Script.. This script was brought by Indian sailors to Southeast Asia (SEA).. At that time Indonesia was experiencing the era of the 𝗞𝘂𝘁𝗮𝗶, 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗮, 𝗞𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗴𝗮 𝗻 𝗦𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗷𝗮𝘆𝗮 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗱𝗼𝗺𝘀.. So in this era, we used the Pallava Script.. But in the 9th Century, the Pallava Dynasty in Southern India was replaced by the 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲.. The Chola Empire also invaded Srivijaya.. Since then this script was no longer used.. So, practically this script is no longer used in India either.. This script was only written in past inscriptions.. From the 𝗧𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹-𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗵𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁 to the 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗧𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁 through the transmission of this Pallava Script.. So where is the Pallava Script now?? It has changed to Modern Tamil Script, Modern Malayalam Script, etc.. Pallava Script has also changed in SEA..
𝟵𝘁𝗵-𝟭𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝘆 (𝗛𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂-𝗕𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗘𝗿𝗮𝘀)
Because the Pallava Dynasty n Srivijaya fell, the Pallava Script developed into the "𝗞𝗮𝘄𝗶 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁" in Java.. At that time Java was in the era of the 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗴/𝗢𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗱𝗼𝗺.. The vowel "V" in the Pallava Script was replaced by the vowel "W" in Kawi Script.. Kawi/Kavi means "Poet", right?? So this script is used to create poems, literature, poetry, or epics called "𝗞𝗮𝗸𝗮𝘄𝗶𝗻".. So basically this is Pallava Script that has been adapted to the local tongue.. In this era, Kawi Script was only used in 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝗘𝗔 (🇮🇩, 🇲🇾, 🇸🇬, 🇧🇳, 🇵🇭).. Kawi Script developed during the era of the 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗴, 𝗞𝗮𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻, 𝗞𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗶, 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗿𝗶, 𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗵𝗶𝘁 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗱𝗼𝗺𝘀.. Meanwhile, Pallava Script changed into several other scripts in 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗘𝗔; 𝗠𝗼𝗻-𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗺𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁 in 🇲🇲, 𝗞𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁 in 🇰🇭🇹🇭🇱🇦, 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁 in South 🇻🇳🇰🇭.. So, Modern Burmese, Khmer, Thai, Lao n Cham Scripts developed from the scripts of each region.. So far, Kawi Script can't be read on gadgets, but Kawi Script has been registered in Unicode since 2022 on the proposal of 2 Indonesians named 𝗔𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘆𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝘆𝘂 n 𝗜𝗹𝗵𝗮𝗺 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗮𝗵 in 2020.. So we just have to wait for someone to do the coding n create the keyboard application..
𝟭𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝘆-𝗡𝗼𝘄 (𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰, 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁-𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗿𝗮𝘀)
Majapahit (Shiva-Buddhism) was replaced by the 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗸 𝗦𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 n various other Sultanates throughout Maritime SEA.. Actually since In the 𝟵𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝘆 in Sumatera there were already the 𝗦𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗸, 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗶, etc.. However, Majapahit's power was still dominant until the establishment of the Demak Sultanate which was also in Java.. The 1st Sultan of Demak was the son of the last King of Majapahit, so this was more like a family conflict than a religious conflict.. Islam-Hinduism in Indonesia never experienced conflict like in India-Pakistan.. These Sultanates had not yet united, but not long after that the Western nations came n colonized SEA.. The Kawi Script changed into 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝘀.. In addition, there was also the adoption of Arabic Abjad such as Urdu n Persian Abjad.. So, during this era, Maritime SEA had 3 writing systems;
◽𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗵𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁 (Son of Kawi Script) : Javanese, Sundanese, Balinese, etc
◽𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗯𝗷𝗮𝗱 : Pegon Abjad (in Java), n Jawi Abjad (outside Java)
◽𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗲𝘁 : Dutch, English, Spanish, n Portuguese Alphabet
These 3 systems are still used throughout Maritime SEA.. See the example below;
🇬🇧🇺🇲 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 : Banana 🍌
🇮🇩 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 : Pisang
🇮🇩🇲🇾🇧🇳🇸🇬 n Southern 🇹🇭🇵🇭 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆 : ڤيسڠ (Pisang)
🇮🇩 𝗝𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲 : ꦒꦼꦝꦁ / ڬٓڎاڠ (Gedhang)
🇮🇩 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲 : ᬩᬶᬬᬸ (Biyu)
🇮🇩 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲 : ᮎᮅ / چاأو (Cau)
🇮🇩 𝗕𝘂𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲 : ᨕᨘᨈᨗ (Utti)
🇮🇩 𝗥𝗲𝗷𝗮𝗻𝗴 : ꤶꥇꤼꥏ (Pisang)
🇮🇩 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗸 (𝗧𝗼𝗯𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁) : ᯎᯀᯬᯞ᯲ (Gaol)
🇵🇭 𝗧𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝘆𝗯𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻 : ᜐᜄᜒᜅ᜔ (Saging)
🇵🇭 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗻𝗼'𝗼 : ᜰᜤᜲᜥ᜴ (Saging)
🇵🇭 𝗕𝘂𝗵𝗶𝗱 : ᝐᝓᝎᝒ (Suli)
🇵🇭 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗮𝗴𝗯𝗮𝗻𝘄𝗮 : ᝩᝳᝦᝲ (Written : Puti but Read : Punti)
◽etc..
Even the accents between sub-districts in Java are different. Don't mix them, or someone will be offended. WKWKWK
in 1 provinces or states , usually it have more than 5 different languanges or dialects 🤣
Surabaya kota 👍🏻
💌🇮🇩
bruh you can literally take 2 hours car trip in any direction from the center of the capital city and you'll find they're talking entirely different language over there
Bahasa lucu gabungan belanda kocak ngabuburit bundar merntal 😁
Lon,bahasa daerah ga ada hubungannya seperti yang kamu komen
Banjarese here, mabuhay
😍😍😍
Semua kota punya bahasa tersendiri... You translate😂
Not Malay ,Indonesia from Melayu ,(Melayu is local language in Sumatra)
thats not entirely wrong, Melayu tribes are spread across Malaysia and some part in Sumatera and Borneo island
Jalan2 ke Manggarai Barat labuan bajo NTT biar kau tau bahasa Daerah Suku Manggarai di Indonesia
😂 honestly, when people only speak one language is considered weird here. Even using prper javanese means know how to speak with hierarchy, so that means 3 different language in one language😂 bc at least 3 hierarchy in javanese language and each has its own vocabulary😂😅
Indonesian isn't Variant of Malay, it only has Malay roots.. Doesn't mean it parts of it now
Why in Indonesia Have Many Languages? because the Nusantara region is occupied by more than 800 tribes or ethnic groups spread across more than 1,800 islands (with names and without names). the existence of the Indonesian language is due to the efforts of previous fighters in order to fight against Dutch, Portuguese, British, and Japanese colonialism. Youth from all over the islands in the Nusantara held a meeting to make the YOUTH PLEDGE. The text of this youth oath affirms the ideals that there will be an "Indonesian homeland", "Indonesian nation", and "Indonesian language". Now every October 28 is commemorated as Youth Pledge Day, where the Indonesian people, especially the youth, must continue the determination of the youth who initiated this historic event.
We, the sons and daughters of Indonesia, acknowledge one blood, the homeland of Indonesia.
We, the sons and daughters of Indonesia, acknowledge one nation, the Indonesian nation.
We, the sons and daughters of Indonesia, uphold the language of unity, Bahasa Indonesia.
However, by upholding the unifying language of Indonesian, it does not mean that regional languages are forgotten, language experts in each region continue to develop and promote their respective regional languages, one of which is by including it in the elementary and junior high school curriculum as a local content subject. so that Regional Languages are protected from extinction.
Take note malaysian, we are not the same
Melayu is just part of total 1k ethnic groups in Indonesia
So stop call us "serumpun" with you 😂
Europeans have many nations & languages yet they consider themselves "serumpun". So what's wrong with Maritime Southeast Asia being serumpun as well
@@danialroslan1531 nope
You just have 3 major etchnics (melayu, indian, Chinese)
We have about 300 ethnics and sub etchnics
Majority is javanese, sundanese, melayu, bugis, torajan, balinese, maduranese etc
They bring also their own languages as well
We re not the same
So stop called serumpun
@@danialroslan1531EWWWW NOPE
