- Intense yet relaxing. Looking for "things to do" in the Charlotte area? This is the best recreational adventure activity that the Charlotte area has to offer. It is an outdoor lover's paradise - second to none - in the entire eastern United States! In addition to whitewater rafting, there is flatwater kayaking, stand up paddle boarding (SUPs), rock climbing, mountain biking, adventure courses (ropes and obstacle courses) and zip lining. Throw in live music, plenty of food options, and a wide variety of local craft beers - and you have a day that is intense yet relaxing.

The U.S. National Whitewater Center is one of those places in Charlotte we can truly call home. We feel like the little bee girl in the video for Blind Melon’s “No Rain” as she sees a whole field of people in bee costumes. Our Subaru Outback is at home in the parking lot. The activities call to us and push us outside our comfort zones. The food and craft beer selections make our taste buds sing. And the evening music brings a calm to the end of a hectic day. This place has so much to do, you need to set realistic expectations. Each visit, choose a few activities - and you’ll be enjoying something new for time to come. If your visit is a single day opportunity, just make sure you get out on the world’s largest artificial whitewater river.
The Whitewater Center is a non-profit outdoor wonderland that opened to the public in 2006. In addition to the famed man-made whitewater river, a $64 day pass can get you access to the flatwater kayaking, rock climbing, mountain biking, adventure courses, and zip lining. In 2019 they even added the area’s largest outdoor ice skating rink. Many single activities can be enjoyed for around $30. But the $6 parking fee is all you need for entry to evening music, year-round festivals, and holiday celebrations. That includes events like the St. Patrick's Green River Festival.

My SUV, with my Women For TRUMP sticker, mountain bike, kayak, paddle board racks would be at home there .
Question. We are planning to go here in a few weeks, any recommendations on what kind of goggles I can get since I use glasses? I’d think it’s best I wear some clear goggles in case I fall in when rafting, but which ones are best to have a clear view of everything?
I have no opinion on the type of goggles since we don’t wear them. It is important, however, that you recognize that the waters can be rough and you will likely lose any glasses if you fall out of the raft. I hope you have fun when you visit. I'm going this spring!! How deep is the water for rafting? I can't swim but I want to experience this lol
I don't know the depth, but I was not able to touch bottom. You have a PFD to wear. I will say that there were folks that were not strong swimmers that were rafting. You don't have to do the most aggressive rapids to enjoy it. Swimming skills are helpful - but I think that it's a great place to enjoy such activities while limiting your risk.
This is much more fun than Disney and all those woke liberals
looks like the guide was terrible he should have been able to keep the raft in the right lines unless nobody was paddling and he could not straighten the raft out.
