A Brooklyn mother said she hears rats screeching in the walls of her NYCHA apartment every night due to an infestation that she's struggling to get addressed.
I grew up in a NYCHA project so I have seen a lot, but there is no way on GOD'S green earth I can live comfortably with rats running around. I freak out over cockroaches because I live in the South now, I would literally pass out if I see a rat in my home, it would take ALL my breath away. 😱
Nisha, I grew up in NYCHA-Harlem as well. I've never seen so many rats in my life but when I lived in the Bronx mice were a problem. Those rats have taken over NYC. I moved to California over 20 years ago. 😊

Actually, Yorkshire Terriers were bred to hunt rats…. in open fields not small apartments. I’m sure hearing them and not being able to chase them causes the little guy much stress. Not to mention sleepless nights:(

Peanut butter mixed with baking soda on the rat traps works like a charm ! also spray ammonia , bleach or peppermint spray everywhere around the house since they don’t like that smell !!!! Also adopt a cat 🐈 just by the cats scent the rats will avoid your house and go to your neighbors house
Not really. Helps to a certain extent. I'm an exterminator. Not the ones who just come in put poison and spray . I look for the initial cause of having the pest issue. Have to seal up holes on the exterior and place bait stations for rodents to go and eat the bait and kill of the population. Mandatory
I had a similar problem and the apartment management refused to clean up the abandoned apartments on each side of mine and there was a huge mouse problem and i called the health department. Apartment management immediately fixed the problem and i moved out asap. Sometimes being a "karen" is called for!
There used be rats in our bathrooms walls years ago We had two street moggies and they never came through. Whenever they heard them, the cats would wait for them by that wall.

Use Baking soda with gloves and place it inside the walls, cabinets, garbage bin anywhere you see or hear rodent activity. glue traps. People all over the country are complaining about rodents. Farmers use baking soda and corn muffin mix . The rodents EAT the mix and go back to where they are hiding and it explodes in their system.

I had rats. I got 2 cats and that took care of the rat problem. They were feral stray cats too.

Everyone needs to put Rat Poison in there House or Apartment. I had this problem 6 years ago. I got the Rat Traps that children or dogs can’t get into. Bucket of poison that’s hard green square.
I talked to several of my neighbors and they refused to help with the rat problem I really don’t understand why not.
