Thank you so much for your wonderful comments!!! Thank you @ApartmentTherapy for featuring our home! Happy to answer any questions about anything in the video!
As you obviously exult in our Indian heritage, may I suggest that when you come next to India, please visit Jaipur, and take a look at their blue pottery...their wall plates, door knobs table lamp bases , tiles, fruit bowls and much more.... have a vibrance all their own .Truly our Indian handicrafts can hold their own with the best which the rest of the world has to offer. Our craftsmen and women are not getting the support and honour they deserve. 🇮🇳
I grew up in Durban, South Africa in the 1970’s. This reminds me of that time. I loved it and it has been my own design inspiration for many years…this tour made me feel very nostalgic. I just love what you’ve both done … and please - let us know where we find a dress like that?! We’re all dying to know ☺️
Agreed. I require a warmth to my home. I can't stand the spaces - the white/grey/beige boxes -that look like modern hotel suites. Do people really want their homes to feel like hotels?
I grew up in Brooklyn, in the ‘40’s to the ‘60’s. These long, narrow tenement apartments were called “railroad” rooms. One room after another front to rear….no doors “except the bathroom”. Our rent in the late forties early fifties…..dad paid $35 month. We were just off the East River….near Buttermilk Channel…..WATER VIEW lol. 12 minutes to lower Manhattan. It’s good to see people fixing up these beautiful old apartments, and caring for them. 💕
Whoa, it's a small world. I've been binge watching Apartment Therapy videos and never expected to find Abhilasha here. Been following her music (she's also made a lot of music with friends of mine from India) for a while - her voice is as calming and rich as is the apartment.
So much life and warm energy in the space. With muted colours, warm tones, and that true welcome-in feel, I love their mid-century, Granny chic take on "decorating". What a beautiful and cool couple. Thanks for letting us peek around your home. 🤗
I love the way they have decorated their two bedrooms Brooklyn apartment. I can tell that everything they have in their abode is intentionally and purposely well-organized for their own delights. This apartment looks I would say is a natural and unpretentious but private one. Thank you for letting me and the world to enjoy it!
I’m sure people would call my place “cool grandma” too. I think we used to call it eclectic! Anyway, I would feel right at home in your place-it’s cozy, bright, and filled with interesting things.
Beautiful home! Will always appreciate homes with a lot of colour and a mixture of prints and styles. They did a wonderful job in putting it all together. Thanks for sharing.
Love this apartment, and the way she has furnished it! That mantlepiece was the find of the century. It's comfortable, cozy, colorful, and not cluttered. Brava!
I agree with Abhilasha's philosophy. There are so many beautiful things, why always buy new. About 85 to 90% of my 475 sq ft vintage apartment in Tacoma is thrifted, second hand or bought for a bargain price. You have a beautiful home. Good for Joe, receiving Mel's book with his autograph. I love Mel too and I adorned his late wife Anne Bancroft. Thrift on and proud!
that rug really does tie the room together! big lebowski taught me the importance of a good rug. this space is so gorgeous + creative. they seem fun, i'd love to go thrifting w Abhilasha! thank you for the inspo. i've been curating a cozy, colorful, planty, mid century space for a year or so + this gives me so much creative motivation ❤
During the introduction video the moment I saw the bedspread, I knew it was Jaipuri razai . Home decor can't be without having something from Rajasthan . Beautiful . Artfully done home .
This home is so beautiful and full of character. It showcases the brilliance of the owners in curating and putting together every single small piece, that go so well together. It almost looks like someone designed the rooms to be that way and yet they are all pieces that came from difference pre-loved sources ! I love love love the vibe, the idea for pieces to be chosen with care and intention and courage ( specially depicted in the colour palettes) !
I love this home tour. She was talking about the story of the rugs and I was wondering about the story of her dress bc the love of color and pattern seamlessly flow through it all. I love seeing a home that invites you to get to know the ppl who live there. Well done!
I too live in Brooklyn. I found a huge lithograph of Christopher Walken in the trash. It was in perfect condition. It takes up half of my wall and it is the one piece of art that gets the most complements. You never know what you will find around the end of the month when people move out of apartments. I have no shame dragging things back to my Williamsburg apartment that I have owned for the past 30 years. I even get the wood slats of the Ikea beds. I make them into planters for my terrace. Your apartment is nice and cozy. It is a railroad in a building that is either a corner building or one without any other building attached to it. I grew up in a railroad apartment.
A railroad apartment is one where you have to go through each room to reach another. There is no separate entrance to enter any particular room by itself. It is called a railroad apartment because it is like a railroad car on a train. To get to the front of the train, you have to go through each car.@@richardsanty9063
I have a full unobstructed view of the Manhattan skyline and Long Island City from the terrace on the 21st floor. Just the view alone is worth a feature.@@yyyid9518
Dig it. It’s a real home. I feel history and family and friends all mixed there💛. The book was the highlight. What an amazing gift that your love and adoration, earned.
This was such a great tour - I couldn't stop smiling! The home is lovely, but the people were so endearing. Between 'advertising the concept of rugs' and the Mel Brooks book, this was probably one of the most engaging and fun tours.
Absolutely love Mel Brooks. What a great honor to meet and interview him. Maybe your wife can carry the book while you carry her then you'll have the best of both worlds. 😉
Your home is so cozy, welcoming and really well designed. Beautiful. You are so adorable and can tell you and your partner are happy in your home. It is made with love.
There’s something about old New York architecture. So full of character. These kinds of spaces are much harder to come by out west where I’ve lived the vast majority of my life. Character is everything. Such a cozy space to share with someone you love.
I love that there are plants in every window. The mix of colors and textiles gives a warm and cozy feeling. A sweet couple who are aware of what makes a home a relaxing place to feel good in. I love Abhilasha's dress and that Joe's autographed book by Mel Brooks has a special meaning for him.❤
I absolutely love this apartment! It's just wonderful how you can put so many ornamental touches and so much colour into a reasonably small space and still have it feel spacious. I would like to move in here and live the rest of my life in such a lovely place.😊
“Why am I promoting the concept of rugs??”…….😂😂 ( because they MAKE this space!!!). This apartment is exceptionally artistic and personal! Love it so much❤
Gorgeous house, full of colour and light. The rugs ,so carefully curated, add so much vibrance to your home, as also the Jaipuri and Moroccan touches, in this apartment.
Love this apartment's design as well as the styling and arrangement. I would pull the dining table away from the wall, but this is only a minor suggestion. It's all lovely. Thank you for sharing!
Such a lovely couple. Who have made a beautiful home. Got a sense they were apologetic for working in a creative industry. I hope that’s a misread. They’re awesome and creative and have an amazing home.
im 28 & i discovered mcm's clean charm & have several main pieces in my condo, but like u, i have eclectic tastes, so i have a couple of european antiques from the 1700s & vintage things from the 1920s art deco....i love old books & all kinds of art and somehow it all comes together. & ive heard the granmillennial charm myself. to me, it means homey like grandmums home was, combined w/ newer decor that makes it bright & airy.... ur home is lovely & i love the rugs & all the color! interviewing mel brooks-so cool & nice guy to send u that autographed copy. fav mel brooks movies=the elephant man(producer) cried my eyes out! & all the way to young frankenstein lmao! the guys a genius @ what he does.97 yrs old!
Love this and totally what Im trying to do in my own partment! Cool grandma vibes, lots of colour and patterns but still classy and elegant, and also bringing in my indian heritage. And most of whats in my apartment is also thrifted or second-hand because old furniture is just so much more beautiful and well made. Its crazy and sad what people throw out this days.
Thank you so much for your wonderful comments!!! Thank you @ApartmentTherapy for featuring our home! Happy to answer any questions about anything in the video!
Thank Joe and you for sharing your space. You’ve made us fall in love with rugs again 😍

I absolutely LOVE THIS GIRL!! You are just so cool, thank you for sharing your home and personality with us...the rug promotion was TO DIE FOR😂❤❤
This home is such a breath of fresh air! The sterile, minimal spaces that are so popular now lack creativity, imagination. This makes me happy!
Only popular among fast decor producers and retailers, then influencers and their followers😬
I appreciate the color and warmth of this home! ❤
Agreed. I require a warmth to my home. I can't stand the spaces - the white/grey/beige boxes -that look like modern hotel suites. Do people really want their homes to feel like hotels?
@@lolah3838 apparently so - it’s a thing 😳
Thank you!!!!

Now this is an apartment I could curl up in! Beautiful home with so much personality and warmth, just like the sweet couple that lives in it. ❤
They have created such a beautiful home! The rugs are amazing!
Great taste. But also two adorable people
Thank you

Wow, you did a wonderful job placing everything in the right place. It doesn't look cluttered. You definitely have the eye for design. Beautiful!!
Beautiful home! Will always appreciate homes with a lot of colour and a mixture of prints and styles. They did a wonderful job in putting it all together. Thanks for sharing.
This is one of those "I wish I could decorate like that" homes. How beautiful!!
Love this apartment, and the way she has furnished it! That mantlepiece was the find of the century. It's comfortable, cozy, colorful, and not cluttered. Brava!
@6:24 he was waiting and so eager to talk that he was speaking in fast forward... Its sooooooooo adorable.
Love you

This is my FAVOURITE Apartment Therapy. Plus she's awesome and he's a sweetie. Cute couple. Excellent style.
It’s a beautiful cozy home the way they display the best of both worlds. I love the bedspread. Nice.

I really love the rugs, it just really works. I am going to use this as inspiration because I want to go with a cool grandma vibe too.

If you don't mind me asking, what is a railroad apartment?
Sounds like you should be featured on apartment therapy… I would love to see it

I love everything about this apartment. I could walk right in and live there and be so happy and content in my surroundings.
I love how this apartment is not overly designed and overly decorated. Very relaxed and warm. Not a bad price for a 750 ft apartment too.
It actually looks like a home fill of “soul”….I love it!
It’s gorgeous. The bones are fantastic but what you’ve done with it makes it really special.
This was such a great tour - I couldn't stop smiling! The home is lovely, but the people were so endearing. Between 'advertising the concept of rugs' and the Mel Brooks book, this was probably one of the most engaging and fun tours.
Congratulations! Well done you 👏
The Mel Brooks book bit was the cherry on top. Who doesn't love Mel?!
This home is like a hug. I love it
Beautiful home! The rugs and bedspread pull everything together, plus the mantle, which was a great find.

One of the best apartments tour I have seen!love it!
This home is just lovely. I feel very uninspired with many apartment tours I see on UA-cam lately, but this one is a nice change of pace. ❤
I love the floor plan of this apartment! Those French doors are everything!
She is GORGEOUS! And I'm envious of that red rug. Lovely.
The mantle is stunning and such a good find!
I absolutely love this apartment! It's just wonderful how you can put so many ornamental touches and so much colour into a reasonably small space and still have it feel spacious. I would like to move in here and live the rest of my life in such a lovely place.😊
Just beautiful. It’s full of character and love and quirks. It looks like a happy place ❤️
This apartment is so my vibe. So beautiful and I also love her dress
“Why am I promoting the concept of rugs??”…….😂😂 ( because they MAKE this space!!!). This apartment is exceptionally artistic and personal! Love it so much❤
Love everything about this styling..very eclectic. Love the rugs and the stories of your acquisitions. Lovely couple.
Gorgeous house, full of colour and light. The rugs ,so carefully curated, add so much vibrance to your home, as also the Jaipuri and Moroccan touches, in this apartment.
Wow! I just love this well-thought-out and cozy, comfortable space!
Wonderfully, well curated home. You guys did a fantastic job!!!
Your home is lovely: inviting, peaceful, cozy and the colors you chose are perfect.
It looks homey.
Thanks for sharing.
3:18 to 3:31 she just said it all for every house apartment tour on UA-cam 🤣 you don’t have to explain it we know 🤣 go girl she seems lovely
Absolutely beautiful! I love the mix of different styles and all the colors. It's seems like a cozy and welcoming home.
When I saw the thumbnail, I was thinking why does this look so homey and then she said she is of Indian origin! 😊
Really nice love the rugs. I recently started buying the good rugs and what a difference they make in warming up a home.
Wonderful and whimsical home! So cozy and inviting!
I adore her approach to secondhand!!! This is a gorgeous home. I love the style and colors.
The home is as charming and quirky as the inhabitants. ❤️
I love this space. Can't believe you got this much floor space in Brooklyn for that rent.
Amazing home... Darth Vader drinking a cup of tea is everything; where did you take this masterpiece guys?!
This "granny chic style" is so warm...
Thanks for sharing...
Love from Brazil ❤
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
I am totally stealing "cool grandma" to describe my style. Beautifully done!
I love all of their design choices. I love all the art and books and.... THE RUGS.
Bello departamento!!! Las alfombras increibles
Fab home. Beautifully curated to render a homey warm light feeling. Bravo !!
HUGE Mel Brooks fan here, bravo for your signed book, man, that's kudos!
I love these kinds of home. Reflecting the personality of the owners. Lovely.
Thank you for the mini rug lesson, I have such a hard time picking out rugs.
Beautiful warm apartment - love all the color!
That space has good bones--I love what they've done with it. But they had a great framework to start with. Lovely colors
What a lovely space! I’m not afraid of color, either 😉
Love this apartment's design as well as the styling and arrangement. I would pull the dining table away from the wall, but this is only a minor suggestion. It's all lovely. Thank you for sharing!
Love watching NY apartment tours. This doesn't disappoint. So pretty and cozy and everything has meaning to them. Incase of fire...grab book!
Love it! Cosy and bright from the Caribbean so i adore colors!
Very nice eclectic home, clearly they love color and prints and mix..
Love the place and cool couple! She is adorable … “why am I promoting rugs!?!” Made me laugh. They would be fun to hang out with!
A very cute couple. She us just so beautiful. I love every single thing in their apartment. It is so cozy, homey , warm and inviting.
I love your apartment. I agree about rugs, I also love rugs and have quite a few in our house.
A warm and beautifully decorated home. Thanks for making me smile. 😊
Love the colours in this place! It all works together, great work!
I need that bedding!!! I'm envious of your home just beautiful
Such a lovely couple. Who have made a beautiful home. Got a sense they were apologetic for working in a creative industry. I hope that’s a misread. They’re awesome and creative and have an amazing home.
This is a beautiful apartment. I am definitely a maximus and I absolutely love how she coordinates everything together so lovely.

I love the home a lot but I absolutely adore the couple too. So cute.
Beautiful and cozy. Love the rugs and all the colors. ❤
Very cozy and eclectic - it works and your home is about you so you do you ❤
So cozy and earthy, very tastefully done, I love it!
You have a beautiful home. Thank you for sharing.
Love this and totally what Im trying to do in my own partment! Cool grandma vibes, lots of colour and patterns but still classy and elegant, and also bringing in my indian heritage. What a beautiful, warm home.
Loved watching this, it’s lovely what’s they’ve done with the space
Absolutely beautiful space, loved every detail!
lovely home just my style and i love rugs also i love the idea of the round rug over the big rug
I love the colors and look of all of her home. Her home to me feels calm and looks beautiful.😊
I dont think he had anything to do with the decor. It's her show😂❤
Haha, absolutely agree
An eclectic and kind of funky apartment which really fits them, and they are really happy with it😊.
Super cool. The space seemed to guide your journey. 😎G
