Flooding vs Non Flooding Acrylic Pouring Experiment. Let's see what happens, when doing my dutch pour painting with blowing the white over the colors, or not (mixture is: only paint and water). And using the exact same colors, puddle and tools. Big results! See what happens for yourself!
Do you have any experiments for me in mind? Let me know!

I am an acrylic pouring addict, without a doubt. Playing with colors, testing out new fluid art techniques, brands, sizes & collaborating with other abstract fluid artists; is the best. Since I started this journey I feel more balanced in my work and passion. If you see these fluid painting tutorials and feel like, this is something for me: go for it! The fun thing about fluid painting is, that even though you do exactly the same, the outcome is different everytime. Also everybody has a different view of composition, colorcombinations and the way of doing a technique, what makes and keeps it so interesting to watch. Thank you for watching and following me in my modern art journey!

Both have their merits, however, my preference in this case is the "flooded" version.
The flooded version has an ethereal jellyfish kind of vibe, while the "non-flooded" version looks like what happened when the jellyfish tried to cross the road.
Hahahahahahahaha
YES !!!! hahahahaha !!!
Lmaooo
Yeah SPLAT 😂😂😂😂😂
Hahahaha Raven, love your comment 💖
I think your preference depends on the feel you're going for. Personally, I think no one can create a wispy, ethereal Dutch pour like Rinske! ❤😍👍🏼
I just started with pouring and have been watching soooo many videos of yours, Kanella, Molly, etc. so far about pouring and I can definitely say your style is the best, softer more elegant tones. Your positive vibe and happy uncomplicated personality makes me feel good after watching your videos and excited to try new techniques.
Even I think same way
Me too ✌🏻
I like the non flood one the best. It's bold but has a touch of softness and the colors are so much more vibrant and defined.
Lovely!! your the queen of the Dutch generation. Both of the pours are beautiful in their own way. The beauty of poring is unlimited.
I just love to watch you paint and your videos are uncomplicated. Like you I like flowing the best.❤️
The flooding method is always my favourite. The end results are more delicate in my opinion ☺
I’m with Karine
Watching you is my Prozac! I'm kinda old to do much but watching you is just as rewarding because you never have a fail!😂🤣😅👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗 Thanx SO much!
From what I've seen, when you do the "non flooding" method you still pour a ring of base coat around the colours to help them move - you just don't blow them over.
The two beside each other are complimentary like brother and sister.
I've watched you since you first came out. You made the Dutch pour very popular. I have lived watching your journey. I've been doing paintings over 5 years. No you tube videos though but I'm thinking about it. You are an artistic genius. Thank you!!
Definitely the flood method! So subtle ,but each to their own! You are the dutch pour queen!!
It doesn't matter how any of us do this. We all have you to thank for this beautiful technique. 💙
I could literally watch you do this for hours. So utterly relaxing and beautiful
Much prefer your flooding style! So soft and gorgeous!!!
👍👍 Rinske thank you so much for explaining why you flood and why you don't flood. I think both turned out beautiful & so different. I would like to see you experiment with this more. Keep on keeping on!!!
💜💙💜💙💜💙💜
When you don’t do the flooded version, you have to blow the dryer in a different way. So you start blowing in the very middle out, so that top middle color spreads out more. If you just do the edge, then you will still have the glob of color in the middle. Sometimes what I’ll do is I’ll take a very little drop of the base color and put that as the final color of the circle. That adds a nice element as well.
That is a great tip, thank you!
Thanks, Rachel, this is helpful.
Rinske, for Dutch pours you are the Queen! Love your color palettes, compositions and “smoky’ technique. ❤️❤️❤️
I prefer the flooding technique effects. Thank you for demonstrating the differences.
I love your method and can't wait to try your flooded method... The colors are beautiful, flooded is my preferred method. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I like the soft one. I don't care for the orange looking color on the one.
How ever I have seen your friend Kanella do dutch pours with out blowing over and they turn out absolutely beautiful. You are both great artist.
Take care and pray you and your family are safe and well.
Thanks for sharing.
I much prefer your technique. The softness is what I want to achieve. Going to try my very first blow over today. Thanks so much!!
I think they both have their place-both have some beautiful aspects.
I think Rinske has perfected the original flooded Dutch pour with puddles which I absolutely love. I will say I think kanella has perfected her version of this by doing lines/squiggles and then putting a small amount of bases color next to the squiggles as a way for the paint to glide better. Both techniques close to the same idea, are executed a little differently to produce beautiful outcomes. I personally do better with rinskes and tend to have the same problem she has when trying to duplicate what others, like kanella have conquered. I love your videos Rinske. Not only do I learn a lot but also I enjoy your calm happy presentation. You just have such an happy peacefulness to you that shines thru.
I have seen some nice non flooding Dutch pours, but my preference matches yours. Flooding all the way!!! I love the softness you get with the flooding. Please continue with whatever you want to show/share/teach us. Thank you!
I'm with ya. The delicate flooded painting is more like a dancer and flows better. This was a very helpful video and cleared up some questions I had in my own painting. Thank you, Rinske!
wow thank you for this video. this has been the biggest problem i’ve run into learning this craft
I could listen to you talk forever. Your voice and inflection is so soothing. ☺️
I definitely like „your original Dutch Pour“ way more than the other. It’s soft and smoky, that’s what I love.🥰❤️
The non-flood looks like a phoenix and the colours are more vibrant which is fitting. The flood has that ethereal quality. I love both!
I like both, thanks for showing us your experience between flooded and non-flooded version.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I was having such a hard time doing a Dutch poor. I never got any satisfactory results! My paint didn’t move, I added more paint to that out that moved a little bit add more paint we’re bad out that moved a little bit and I just ended up with a really thick paint splotch as opposed to a graceful, wispy, delicate, sheer petal-like result . On a sidenote, I have to say that I really enjoy watching you perform your artistry! I’m addicted to your videos, I think you’re amazing, and I so appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us, and your time with us, so that we can learn as well.
Hi rinske! Fun experiment....I prefer the smokey look...coz it also mixes colours and comes up with different colours.....thanks!
Thank you for sowing the difference, it was very helpful.
The look like satellite photos of the earth. Both versions are epic!
I agree both are beautiful, I like the smokey look.
Fun to watch but I definitely prefer the flooded version, that is the only way I do mine as well... your's is beautiful!
I have noticed others doing this without the flood, doesn’t suit me. Again, beautiful💕
Oh my god! You made me realise what I'm doing wrong! So I try flooding but my pours look more like your non-flooding one. So I guess I'm not using enough paint to flood. Thank you so much Rinske!
I love your original Dutch pour style with the flooding! Each one you do is original and different
IMO the non flooded tends to all look the same.
The flooding is my preference as well. Very pretty!
like the flooded better , thanks for the demo it is soooo interesting and valuable especially for a beginner
I like both of them. Each has a beauty all its own.
very nice experience. It makes a big difference.Thank you for sharng your idea.
I tried your method and I’m absolutely in love with the results!
Thanks for the demonstration. I am all for the flooding. It gives a totally different atmosphere to the whole canvas. I like the way the colors blend in a gentle way and not have one or two colors that might overpower the others.
I really like them both I like the vibrancy and the cells in the one on the left and I love the delicacy and the softness and the one on the right they both win in my book
Love your flooding so much more. The soft beautiful, delicate results is so pretty and my preference. 🖌❤🎨
I am with you Rinske, I also prefer the flood method. I like the lacing the delicate look of the flood method. Thank you for the demo.
I've always flooded, then I saw another artist not flood. Yes it was more vibrant with the colors, but did not have any transparency like I like and know you like. That's what gives it the softness, I think and like. It also allows more movement when wanting to work with your piece as far as blowing the edges, etc.
Loved your color palette as well!💞💞💞
THANK YOU, RINSKE, FOR THE GREAT DEMO, I LIKE BOTH VERSIONS, DEPENDING ON WHAT KIND OF PAINT I PRETENDBTO DO BUT
USA here💙I gotta say both are stunning..to me, the non flood is a softer definition👍compared to its rowdy brother👍😎
This video was super helpful and really satisfying to watch
I agree I like yours much better, am going to try some tomorrow
Thank you for the demonstration. I am all for the "Flooding" approach. It gives the work a look of smoothness and tranquility. Colors blend and do not overpower each other. The "Non Flooding" you run the risk of having a color or two overpower and overshadow the others and strike you in the eye.
Both are equally beautiful to me. You can't go wrong with your art. It's a talent and you have it. Hugs!
I like the Red/orange colors in the middle without the flooding. Both turned out great!!
I love the soft look of YOUR famous Dutch Pour! I’ve done them both ways and I kind of come back to flooding.
Both are lovely
Thank you Rinska. You just answered a question that I have been wondering about - the difference between the 2 techniques.
Thanks for showing us the difference and experimenting!
I like the same one you do. They are both very pretty but sometimes in a Dutch pour I think less is better. I also like the softness and negative space. ❤️ Thank you so much for showing us the difference! Be well!❤️
Honestly, I like them both! Each is beautiful in its own way.
Hi Rinske....I love your original technique best...so soft and smokey! I can't seem to get mine like that yet! Still trying though!
I like the flooded one best. The paint flows so much nicer! Thanks for sharing🥰
Definitely the flooded one in this case. For a non-flooded pour it is best to use lines not puddles. But flooded Dutch pours definitely have a more delicate and dramatic look. Love it Rinske xxxx
Wow… glad I found this! All of mine were just streaking the colors and making me nuts!
I’m going to have to flood from.
Both are gorgeous
I love and follow your technique, the colors you use, and the way you look at the composition, I have never tried duch pour. I will prepare and apply my paints as soon as possible 🔆🌟🌸
I agree I wish I could do what you do I have tried several times lol not very successful I love your work many blessings
I must say I also like the more soft better as you😍 it's so beautiful
Flooded looks amazing.
I love the flooded method. I’ve learnt from watching your videos. I do it your flooding style.
Beautiful. I’ll try both!🙏🏻
I really love the the flooded one! The non flooded one has incredible cells but I really like the softer lines of the flooded one!
Thanks for the demo and information. Love the colors
I like both for different aesthetics. Thank you for demonstrating the differences. I have tried for the smoky effect, without much success. Now I think I’ll try one with covering with paint before blow out.
I definitely like the flooded one best. This turned out really pretty.
IMHO, they are BOTH fantastic! While they are different in many ways, that's what makes them so appealing to me. I would be proud of either one of them.
I agree with you.. love the smokey affect of the flooded.. all of your work is simply gorgeous & amazing! I’m so inspired!! TFS and keep doing so.. I’m excited about your current split series, as you always teach me new techs.. God bless you and yours...
I love them both, I think it's all about what ones after at that time.. that's what I do when pouring..
The both are beautiful!
My preference is the flooded as well. I’ve only recently started pouring and my 1st attempt at a Dutch pour was a miserable failure, lol ! I didn’t have enough paint on canvas. Love, love, love your videos. I’ve learned so much and your work is amazing!
I really love the flooding.
I prefer the flooding and love the finished product! But I do like the cells in the non flooding. I recently just starting experimenting with flooding so I'm still learning, you have been my online teacher during these times ❤️
The flooded looks beautiful..
La pintura base del lienzo es negro o azul muy oscuro? Maravilloso!!!! 😍😍😍😍
Thank you for this experiment
I actually like both!
You're an artist through and through... thanks for sharing your experience and experiments with us!! Wishing you health and prosperity in this crazy time Rinske;)
Brilliant video, love the one with a flow. Why do I get small cells?? The colours are beautiful. Thank you so much. ❤️😍
Thanks for the experiment. Love them both but prefer the flooded one.
Thank you for this side to side demonstration. The effects are QUITE different. Now it will be easier to decide on how to proceed. I still need to work on the method as a whole because on low my dryer just moves the paint around slightly but on high I'm painting the walls.
I wish my dutch pours looked like yours.
Me too...lol...
Thank you for this! I learn so much from your videos. Been researching for my first pour painting commission im really nervous about it but you helped so much
I just love hearing your accent and every video I'm holding my breath, hoping and waiting for you to say, "hi, I'm Rinske Douna".🥰
It's the little things when you're stuck in iso.😊
I couldn't agree more. And when she says the word "canvas." It's so cute!
Love the flooding
I personally prefer the delicate flow of the flooding technique. Thank you!
Hi Rinske😊👋!! Next time try pouring squiggly lines, or straight lines across the canvas, I think it will work better. When you do a puddle pour you need to flood to help the paint move. With the lines you don’t (as long as the base coat is thick enough). I find when I don’t flood, and just blow the colours out, they end up more vibrant.
I've experimented with both methods and reached the same conclusions. Goal is learning how to control to achieve the look I want, which varies with vision for each piece. Soft feathery effect easier with flooding. For big, bold color don't blow base coat over. I have seen interesting mixing of the colors, non-flooded, when the paint is "overblown". Thanks for the video. Serf 'rett
