    I think I would feel better getting something like this than a Sargo or a Botnia which are a little more intimidating. Wonderful review! Really great presentation. Cheers!

      I'm yet to test the Botnia and Sargo but have seen a few vids by Jack Haines on those boats. They look like they are very high quality to be fair. Would be impossible to sell second hand in Australia which would be my only hesitation recommending to someone down here because generally people buying in this sector are on their way up towards bigger boats in a few years after cutting their teeth on something like this first.

    Great review Dan, these kind of boats merry fisher, Arvor Beneteau Barracuta, Parker are as you say suv of the water .They are good for a lot of different things ,but don't specicalies in one thing.

    Dan, can't thank you enough for this review. For weeks now I've been wrestling over the choice of a '795 with its accommodations' vs. a cabin version of a Quarken or Nimbus where one has to invent a galley & table to eat off. Yes, the 795 runs well in protected water & yes, that's where we'd mostly use it. But the Bahamas and Florida Keys are sooo close and that means open water. Watching this 795 bump-bump-bump it's way thru that chop outside made me wince. Think you summed things up very well.

      @BoatLife_DansBoatLife  Рік тому +1

      Hi Jack! No worries at all. So happy when these vids are genuinely helping you guys. I recall you said that Bahamas run was like 60NM? If Bahamas is high on the priority list I would favour the Quarken or Nimbus because they will operate in a wider weather window. The 795 will still do it fine but you'll be pulling the pin earlier if conditions change just to keep yourself comfortable. I guess it really comes down to where you will spend most of your time. Another point to consider is Quarken re-sale is untested vs Merry Fisher which is proven (in Australia anyway I assume they are popular in the States too?).

      @@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Good point on Quarken being new to the market, Dan. And yes, the Antares & Merry Fisher families seem to have been purchased in droves during/after the Pandemic here, so relatively new used ones are available. Having boated both up north on the east coast and down in Florida - and something you can check for yourself when you finally get over here - there seems to be a big regional change in powerboat preferences. From the Northeast U.S. down into the sounds and rivers below the Chesapeake Bay, there is more of a preference for traditional looking boats. Or at least for those boats not intended for fishing, where the center console reigns supreme. OTOH Florida seems to offer 50 different brands of zoomey, 'blister on the water' designs with cuddy cabins, probably in part because the climate is much more benign but also because....well, because it's Florida. 😎 Keep in mind: In just 2021, 1.15 million (Million!) used boats were sold in the U.S. And 95% of new boats being sold here are U.S. built. So generally speaking, we lack the marketplace diversity you see in Europe, of even I see when watching your vids in Oz, but a lot of boats change hands annually.

    24:02 traditional tiny French 💩box! I have same size on my MF795 v1 and no-one likes using it. Be better off opening up the forward space and having a litter tray.

      Haha... very true. I was wondering if a curtain arrangement would work better to give more open feel when not in use. You could put the head up against the bulkhead in front of the helm and then design a really good privacy screen then when not in use could hide away. The vanity could even be a fold down one like on the old trains of as seen on the Beneteau 36 First?

    Great video! Would love to see a video on the 895 Sport S2. I know you mentioned in another comment some other options would be better for more offshore so curious if the 895 S2 and 795 S2 are roughly the same in that regard? What’s your thoughts on the 895 S2 having a B rating for 6 people offshore? Or has your experience told you you don’t regard those ratings much?

    My biggest issue with these are single engine layout. “Adventure” marketing they should opt in for twin engine setup. Also just quit with the over priced Yamaha timing belt power. Give buyers the ability to pick their power. Especially for the prices these mass produced hulls are priced at. 👍

    Hey Dan, great review and enough to now go back and reconsider this beastie. Big call out to Ben for some excellent camerawork - well done mate 👍
    One question that has always put me off Jenneau is that they appear to be rather underpowered. I’ve heard rumours that this is deliberate so as to entice potential buyers into moving to the 895 or even the 1095. Can I ask your view on whether this may be underpowered? Again, well done Ben and thank you Dan for the great walkthrough. 🍺

      FWIW Dom Wiseman at MW Marine speaks to the power available on a 'standard' 795 Series 2 with a 200 Mercury at 6:30 or so here: ua-cam.com/video/CdM9mbPXZL0/v-deo.html However, it looks like he only ran the boat in smooth water and MW Marine never speaks poorly of a boat they review.

      Thanks for helping Jack! @dmann7004 yes Jeanneau and most European brands advertise their boats with seriously underpowered motors to get peoples attention at boat shows. When I was a salesman we would often create an Australian Standard that did not even offer the smaller motor options. Europeans are different to Aussies however as they will often buy and use underpowered boats where as in Australia most people want the max HP available.
      So the optional 150 and 200Hp for this boat i would ignore and only get it with the 250hp. The price list I have for this test is only offerring single motor options FYI.
      I would say that this boat is a good ride at 24 - 28kts with 3-4 people onboard. With 33kts WOT that means you could still load her up a bit more and achieve cruise (with some more revs). I would personally not try to put much more HP on this hull as you would then have a tendency to approach chop at speeds the boat would uncomfortable to ride through. This boat is not trying to be a speed demon, she's a boat you can get around in for a day burning minimal fuel and running normal speeds.

    • @jacktyler7599
      @jacktyler7599 Рік тому +1

      dmann7004, we lived in and sailed around Europe for 4 years and one thing that stands out for me is how conscious European boaters are of fuel prices, which are generally high. I think most boaters associate smaller horsepower engines with better fuel economy, despite that being a misleading rule of thumb. So I can imagine Euro manufacturers & dealers play to that mistaken belief when selecting their engine options.

    • @BoatLife_DansBoatLife
      @BoatLife_DansBoatLife  Рік тому +2

      A/C i suspect would need to be a local install with lithium but ask your local dealer. Out back is the barbie option but you can also do openning aft doors in the different layout option which removes the back bench seat and brings the sing inside.

      @@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Thanks. This is a GREAT BOAT, it's better indeed than Cutwater 24 Coupe that I was considering. One thing I don't like about this boat is the location of the livewell! It would be better the have the livewell in the back where the bench is, I think.

    Sorry to be a kill joy. This boat is 50% of most things but 100 % of none of them. yes, it's a good price, but it shows, useless salon, tiny berth. Maybe good for two guys to go fishing, but that's about it.
    Good review though.

    • @BoatLife_DansBoatLife

      To be fair I think that's the Beneteau Group design idea for many of their boats. To appeal to a wide audience and not be too niche. Yes it's a master of none but it's not trying to be in my opinion. It does master re-sale however. These little Merry Fishers have always been easy to sell second hand in my experience.

      G'day it depends on a number of factors but if you divide the consumption numbers I am giving you at the different speeds by the size of the tank and leave a 20% reserve this will help.
