Without watching the video. Yes you do as do like thousands of people. Loved it since day one. I got the platinum a few months ago and I've been playing it again on PC with the living city mod. Which is absolutely incredible. Watch dogs 1 would be the perfect blueprint for a Punisher open world game
@@podcastnowbacktothepast to be fair I was 28 or 29 when it released. Also, a few months before it came out Ubisoft released another trailer that showed how the game actually looked, and they got ripped for it and responded to the first trailer and basically said that was a proof of concept video, apologized and said the final game has all the features of the first trailer. Which was true. It seems like a lot of people forgot about that.
I actually believe that Ubisoft didn't lie as much as we think, well not in the way we think. I think what we saw on E3 was playable just not on the consoles. As someone found files in the game that if removed made the game run better. So there is this theory that the game was downgraded on PC to keep parity with the consoles. This was a time when publishers hated PC gaming with a passion so it is not strange that they wanted console to be the best experience. This would not be the first game made worse because of this, same thing happen to Mass Effect 2 where you can't recruit your companions in any order because of the Xbox 360.
11:29 - I always kinda imagined that it is not necessarily a coincidence or bug; it's a timeline where people can do a lot with data, not only reading but also maybe modification of data. Aiden is a hacker, but why should he be the only one? Like, if you see someone on the street who has police records of various offences, maybe it's just a "prank" by someone. Maybe this is an esoteric theory, but the game somehow tells a story to be vary of given data, so maybe we shouldn't treat everything as facts, but be cautious
Lol hey I like that theory!! I'd say probably not but I like the idea for sure, I think no just because they kept the factions pretty separate where they'd only appear towards the end of the story
man i rmemeber convincing my mom to pick me up from school early so i could go pick up this on day 1, it was the first game i ever pre ordered with my own money…i remember ever portion of it and I will always love it for trying to be something different
Watch Dogs was budled in with my PS4 when I got it, and it became the game I have replayed the mostm I just love the game, and the sequel, I remember playing through the Bad Blood DLC, thinking about how it'd be cool to get a quadcoptor in a sequel, and then I went back to the PS4 menu, and saw the announcement to the sequel, I played that, and love it as well. Legion... I enjoy it, I love running around London, I'm not a londoner but I have been to London a few times unlike Chicago and the Bay Area, so it's cool actually recognising areas. I think Legion was heavily built around the recruitment mechanic, and that is kinda cool, looking around for useful operatives, and it does affect how I play, in 1 I would somewhat cliniacally sneak through, shooting enemies with a spec ops pistol, in 2 I would call in rival gangs and set up a massacre, but in Legion I was more aware of the consequence of my actions, and I tried not to kill my enemies to avoid alienating potential allies who might be related to them. I also remember a particular incident in 1 where I was responding to a crime, which turned out to be a resturaunt hold up, I planned to shoot the crook in the head with my spec ops pistol and didn't realise until it was too late that I actually had the Destroyer, a powerful, armour peircing sniper equipped, long story short, maybe an enforcer would keep the bullet in him, but a simple gunman... yeah the bullet went through him and killed the guy he was sticking up as well. Oops.
1. Yes, you are right. 2. Play with DXVK in your PC; 3. The best combo of mods is: TheWorse 1.03 + Living City + PlayStation Buttons (optional). That's how i play this game.
@@podcastnowbacktothepast Basically, it expands the gameplay of the base game with custom missions, random events and new features (that were disabled in the files of the game). But, if you want details, here we go: This is a summary of some of the main features of the Living_City mod:
Many new gadgets like call a Taxi, a Black Market Dealer, a Bodyguard, even the Police, and deploy a remote sniper turret and a Sticky Camera, and even resting anywhere. The Black Market Dealer parks nearby and sells any weapon, the Bodyguard fights for you following your orders and the Call Police calls for a patrol cop on your location. The Taxi drives you anywhere you want, the Hunter is a remote sniper turret, the Sticky Camera can be thrown anywhere, and the Rest allows you to change time. All of them can be called using the respective consumable item which you can buy from Tobias Shop or in your hideouts Workbench, or you can craft it yourself. Now you can find 19 red zones on the map, they are Restricted Areas guarded by enemies like you've found during the campaign, except these are active in freeroam outside of missions. For example you can sneak inside a fixer hideout while chased by the cops, leading cops and fixers to fight each other (just like hinted in a loading tip of the vanilla game). Also if you kill all the guards of the restricted area it will be marked as clear and no enemies will respawn in there for some time. You can check the Restricted_Areas map included in the mod archive to see which parts of the city are now restricted. Many building interiors that were previously enterable only during the missions are now always open and freely explorable in freeroam. This means that you can enter and exit them at will, and some will even include the appropriate enemies inside. For example you can revisit places like the Auction or the Stadium, or even enter the Prison from the sliding doors of the main entrance. The most important Unlocked Interiors are conveniently marked on the main map as new unvisited City Hotspots (see also the Unlocked_Interiors map included in the mod archive).
I’ve always liked this game more than most. I didn’t know about the E3 demo controversy until after I played it. I never thought it was the greatest thing ever but it was good. I’ve always liked that open world GTA clone type of game, and I thought this was a cool take on it with the hacking and stuff. Funny story I’ve gone back to this game numerous times over the years just to play high stakes poker and the drinking games lol 😂. Obviously it’s not the best game for that but it’s pretty fun as a time waster. This game coming out during the transitional period between the 360 and One always comes to mind for me as well. Some of my friends had it on 360 and honestly it wasn’t much different on there which is pretty crazy all things considered. Anyway great video as always and I’m looking forward to Infamous and the new format next.
I honestly really liked the drinking game, thought it was a ton of fun!!! And o man I didn't even think to try the PS3/360 version!!! Appreciate it as always man, very excited to do the Infamous vid and stream, first poll is up on the channel and I'll be working these community posts into the video starting today!!!
I’ve been saying this for years, after playing Watch Dogs and returning to GTA the world feels empty and static, you can’t control or do anything to the world besides break and kill. Watch Dogs needs to come back.
Great video Alex it been a while since I played this game and I want to go back and beat it but I never originally and when this game first came out my brother get it and I get Wolfenstein the new order because they released around the same time so I didn’t play it until a couple of years after it came out and my mind has changed about Aiden over the years I thought he was too Edgy when I first played it but now I like him
🙏🇮🇳 a bit late but totaly agreed. Wd 1 in 2024 is up there as simply one of my most favourite ganes of all time and it has stood the test of time. With my merged mods however this game easily looks even far better than the 2012 reveal. Plays better as well.
I dont think this game had that big of a downgrade, I can clearly see that it dont look exakly like the trailer but, I must say there is a lot of games that lookt a lot worse then the gameplay trailers. No man sky, gta 5, the division, cyberpunk and Anthem just to say a few that did have biger downgrades then whatsdogs. I think this game look amazing even to day and loved the game. And the driving that every one hate i love, but I did also love the driving in gta 4, and hatet the driving in gta 5 so take that as you will. Grate video tho
I was with you till you said gta5. Even the 360 version look better than the trailer. Overall the game did get downgraded from the og scope but that version was never used for the trailer

Ahhh see yeah I think I might agree then lol, I remember the second game just being pure fun and at the time I really liked 2 while I hated 1. But I've done a complete 180 on 1 so 2 I feel might be the same lol

You should get living city mod
I just bought all of the WD titles on Steam. Looking forward to trying them out.
NICE!!!
i dont understand the hate for this game. this world seemed more immersive than gta 5
you must not have been there when this came out
Its not immersive in terms of gameplay possibilities like gta 5. storytelling definitely

Compared to games today, this game is much more dynamic complex and interactive. Games today are just bland and simple..
I agree. Shockingly dynamic is probably a good word.
