30 Year Aged Davidoff No. 1 Vs. New Davidoff

- Опубліковано 22 бер 2023
- Davidoff has a long history of making some of the finest luxury cigars in the world. In fact, the Davidoff No. 1 Lancero is a holy grail for cigar collectors. And as luck would have it, we have two of these 30+ year aged cigars to put up against some of Davidoff's newer blends. Let's see how 30 year impacts the flavor of a cigar, and how the new stuff competes to offer amazing flavor.

Thank you for the video and delighted that the No. 1s are being enjoyed rather than stored. Please do visit if/when you are next in London. Best wishes, Eddie
Not upset in the slightest. At the end of the day, it’s a cigar and not an auction piece. It’s meant to be smoked and enjoyed.
Exactly, it was created to be destroyed.
Who else would watch a video with Tim and the Sahakians talking about aging?
That culture clash would be something to behold.
Fuck yes please 🫠
Tim and the Sahakians are polar opposites culturally. Love them both tho
Hell yeah! Two very different worlds, but with one common and deep passion. Would absolutely love to see this.
Yes they should make an America non Cuban vs a sahakian Davidoff/ Cuban compare and contrast hang out session.
Oldest cigar I've smoked was a 20 year old Padron 1926 and it was terrible. It lost all of it's flavor and was such a super disapointment. It was a valuable lesson about holding on to something for too long waiting for the "perfect moment". Just smok'em if you got'em!
the tobacco in that was over 10 years old before it hit the shelf
The Padron 1926 came out in 2002 tho?

Humidity is a factor also. It probably was dry as hell...
I’ve smoked a lot of aged cigars that still retained great flavors,.. I’m a firm believer that proper storage is the key here!!! The oldest cigar I’ve had so far was a 15 year old avo classic no.8 ce
I smoked a 7 year old black and mild casino about a week ago. It was surprisingly bold in flavor and the wooden tip was very sweet.
Ive been smoking cigars since the start of this channel. It truly is amazing to watch these videos. Thank you for the content
Would've liked to see you choose to compare it to the new Davidoff Signature No.1 LE lol
I smoke the new No.1 LE while watching this. It was fantastic!
@@itsdamato They truly are tremendous

I have a box of sancho panzas from 1998 that I haven’t tried yet but I’m looking forwards to giving one a try. I also have a few La flor de Cano from the late 90s I’ve had some of those and they are quite nice sticks.
Nothing better when it comes to cigars than properly aged Cuban cigars. Had (and still have in collection) 1920 to current run sticks, including a few Cuban Davis. Extremely complex and flavorful and yet subtle and balanced.
I'm so pleased to see you guys smoke those. They are meant to be aged but, At the end of the day, they are meant to be smoked. The Sahakians, Davidoff of London, would be pleased to know you are smoking them. They specialize in slowing down micro-fermentation, aging for decades. The oldest cigar I have smoked was 12 years aged, it was phenomenally well balanced and yet punchy.
Great video!
I would definitely say "Smoke Em" if they were well aged collectible cigars.
I have a full and unopened box of Partagas C, Signature Series, Partagas 150 Anniversary (1845-1995).
AND this year I will get off my lazy hoarding ass and smoke some.
Thanks guys for the motivational video.
Wow. Much surprised. I felt the same. Glad you got something more from it. So did I. I still have 28 left
Great video! Not sure if you have already done it, but I would love to see a review on the 5 Vegas series A!

Arturo Fuente Anejo Shark No. 777
In one of my humidors aging for 3 years right now. At least in my posession. I purchesed it off of a guy locally from his personal box he had left. I'm not a huge fan of Arturo Fuente cigars, but this particular stick was recommended to me as a different kind of experience. It was suggested to me to pair it with a qaulity cognac when i do decide to smoke it.
Another great review. I actually won an entire case of these cigars and wasn’t ever going to smoke them. Well now I know I’m gonna try a couple.
Had my first Davidoff late hour this week, and it was fantastic but now I'm craving a choco taco 🌮 lol
Interesting point about Davidoff merchant selection. I go to Liberty Tobacco in San Diego which is the only shop I've been to as an adult that I've seen with Davidoff cigars.
Thank You Thank You Thank You. Those are some if the best Cigars in the world and I'm pleased you appreciated them.
I love the Cuban 20 yr and up aged cigars...the aged tobacco flavor cannot be duplicated. It is a pleasure to experience.
Ha I've been yelling at my phone for ever as I hear people say cigars are no good after 5 or so years. Hell most just hut thier peak at that point.
👏
Living in 🇬🇧 I smoke Davidoff regularly. Happy to bring a box over next time I fly out for a golf weekend 😊
Super cool video guys. I would imagine that the environment the cigar was aged in could have a pretty significant impact. Maybe that crappy Monte #2 you had was aged in somebody's unhumidified sock drawer for 20 years... lol. Interesting how these amazing works of art can be influenced so much by how they are cared for over the years. Cheers!
cigars take in flavor from the humidity their in. this is why you can infuse them by leaving a shot glass of whisky in a bag instead of a boveda. i imagen a cigar aged in a boys gym locker room would have quite a musk. lol but put it in oak or spanish cedar i bet the wood box its aged in can effect it too but im no scientist.
I smoked a Ramon Y Ramon from Partagas that was rolled in 1995. The Cameroon wrapper was harvested in 1977! I still have a couple left. Might let them mature a little more. 😂
I smoked a 60 year old (still sealed) Punch Triunfo Cuban Cigar a few months back. It was VERY good.
History repeats itself! We are still able to enjoy a Quality Cigar! Would love to smoke Cigar History! 👍✌️❤️
I believe storage plays a big factor. We just now starting to figure out what the best way to store them. The cigars of today will truly tell the story of time tomorrow
I picked up some vintage h. upman 1993 Cameroons and they very good.
I'm watching this, after smoking my first Premium cigar. Thank you Tim for making me a smoker 😂😂😂
Loved it BTW.
I had a 4 year old Punch Diablo, as well as a much newer one. I have to say the aged one was delicious and favorable. To the point of buying a box and leaving it alone in the humidor
Congratulations on fulfilling those two cigars lives and enjoying them like they should be.
Got a ghurka cellar reserve limitada I've been setting on for about 2 years now me and a friend of mine got em at the same time I believe the hour draws near for time to burn em just didn't want to take a chance on waiting too long with such a fine piece
i had one a couple years ago. I was pleased
I have a 1998 Cuban Cohiba I’m holding onto for that one special occasion, that I don’t know will ever come!
I'm not upset or mad. If I'm one thing it's jealous. I love lanceros and I'd kill to get the chance to smoke a cuban Davidoff Lancero. And about the 'Davidoff Winston Churchill The Traveller' cigars: the belicoso is my sunday breakfast stick. A great little cigar!
Nothing smokes like an aged Davidoff. There’s something about how they cultivate their tobacco that absolutely gets better over time-specifically with the lighter blends.
The Millennium, Late Hour, and 702 don’t have the same “oomph” after 3 years+ of resting, which is expected as the flavors blend together and calm down. However, the special edition Winston Churchill cigars have gotten immeasurably better. The 2019 and 2021 are absolutely phenomenal compared to when they released. I’m curious to see how an aged Yamasa or Escurio will smoke after 3-5 years.
I burned an Aniversario Double R that’s around 15 years old, and I had the same experience as Tim and Dustin with their 30 year aged Lanceros. It was a delightful cigar and a terrific experience! I was blown away by how much better it was than a newer Aniversario off the shelf.
Davidoff is special, and I’m a believer!
Oldest cigar I ever smoked was one I actually purchased from Davidoff in London, following advice from Eddie Sahakian himself. San Cristobal "El Principe" which had been aged since 2001.
A great little smoke but truthfully, the flavour was very one-dimensional and lacklustre. I can't say for certain whether this was attributable to the age, or whether it was just the profile of the cigar, but over time I've gravitated towards New World cigars over Cubans for much the same reason.
That said, best Cuban I've smoked (my dad agrees) is the RASS; absolute flavour-bomb.
Greetings from the UK
I have a room 101 big payback that I have continued to over look in my humidor. I recently realized it's now atleast six years old and I am debating whether I should let it ride or light it up now.
Light it up…it’s not going to get any better than it is right now.
What is the know history of storage and how long did you store in your humidor before smoking?
I was blown away by the Archetype Axis Mundi - I stocked up on them with a stash of just under 30 in a properly humidified humidor. Two years later - it wasn't worth it. That magical taste was gone. I'm glad I stumbled on to the Persian Kings, which gave me a similar flavor profile while being way better in every regard. Saving & Storing cigars is almost a waste because you never know which way it could go for the most part. On the other hand, I have smoked some two and half-year-old Privada 9's, and they were great - nice & mellow without the bark and spicy edge while maintaining an awesome taste.
Eddy shahakian talks about this that cigars tend to go out but come back again a few years later and then die down again and then come up. They describe it as a wave pattern, I suggest you to come back to it again to that blend after 5-7 years to see if the flavours come back again.
Aging strong cigars is definitely the way to go.
I just opened Viaje ten ton tess jar, viaje honey and hand grenades original and Viaje wmd 2015 like 6months ago, and if you don't know these are some very powerful and full Bodie cigars. The ten ton tess just reaked of raisins and is still strong and peppery.
The wmd has a strong chocolate bar scent.
The honey and hand grenades original is like 12yrs old and is very flavorful.
The strength of the cigar is definitely going to make a difference in the results you achieve when aging your cigars.
Commenting just to comment lol, always love the vids👍
I have some H uppman 2000s, they're still a decent strong smoke
The oldest cigar I’ve ever smoked was a 65 year old Sancho panza Cuban cigar which was phenomenal, elegant taste but still packs a punch which was not expected at all.
I like aged Paul garmarian's, always deliscous the ealiest I have had from them were rolled in 1996
Cigars are meant to be smoked. Smoke the damn thing and enjoy it!
👏
Meant to be smoked and enjoyed. Also lots of education so double worth it!
In my experience, cigars improve with age on a bell curve. 3 - 5 years seem to be the sweet spot in general in my experience. Lighter cigars less time, stronger cigars longer.
I heard the same
Still can’t believe you let him go and haven’t commented on it. I don’t know if you realize, but he was actually a big reason why I would shop with you guys.
What do you mean let him go?
@@R-Lee- Tim fired Dustin a few months ago for seemingly no good reason. He refused to talk about it and Dustin has personally told me that Tim is not the person he puts off behind closed doors.
Hey my name is Logan I guess you could say that I am relatively new to cigar smoking every now and then I will get premium cigars but the cigars that I normally smoke are flavored wood tip ones that I could get down here at a gas station in West Virginia
My birthday is March 31st and my mom got me a cigar humidor and she also got me a variety pack of AJ brand cigars which they are my first premium brand of popular cigars
I am enjoying them but even though I'm enjoying them I have a feeling that I'm lighting them wrong I know there's a special way to light cigars but you see I am handicapped I have cerebral palsy
I was wondering if you had any special tips for someone like me that has trouble lighting a cigar the right way or a certain lighter that I should use to make it easier for me I can light them just fine but the way I am makes it quite difficult to light them I will be 26 Friday
If you have any special tips that would help me I would really appreciate it thank you I don't want to ruin my first-ever premium brand of cigars by not lighting them the right way thank you
Fun. Def smoke em. Seems like they produce low volume of smoke...but is lancero.
How are there not more cigar folks into bespoke? Nobody here is familiar with the Sahakians or Kirby Allison?
Love me some Nick Foulkes also.
They are too much for me to take. Seem like nice people and all but it’s not my style.
@@t.parsons5669the highly esteemed Foulkes and Sons!
Since when smoking cigars implies having bespoke clothes? And speaking pf Kirby, you can take an american out of America but you can not take America out of a man. He thinks he is class but got smoked in the Foulkes video where he just couldn't handle pure english banter. He seems to me a lot of mirrors and even more smoke. The Sahakians, I could listen to them all day because they KNOW their stuff and are just really polite amd humble people, unlike a freaking texan who wants to be a gentleman in UK...never gonna happen
How were those cigars stored?
1) Im jealous 😂 2) Raw Almonds to cleanse palate in between 3) Love Cigar Daily channel
Question: is your guest still employed lol.
Great content.
Only on Cigars Daily can you smoke two at a time.. lucky Dustin 😜
Here’s a non flavored list of mild cigars for first timers.
1 - Baccarat - The Game
2- Brick House - Classic
3- Macanudo - Cafe
4- Camacho - Connecticut
All robusto
Camacho Connecticut is 👌👌👌 I will try the others on this list thank you!
Kirby Allison is somewhere punching the air right now😂😂😂😂 @cigarsdaily good video tim 😂😂😂
A stick has 6 months, tops. I can’t age because of how much I enjoy smoking them. 10:22
In my state their is only one shop that carries Davidoff. Davidoff was my first cigar I had on my 21st birthday and I'll be picking up my second Davidoff to smoke for my anniversary and birthday very soon. To be frank, I rarely like visiting the shop. I wish Davidoff was a bit more democratic on who gets to carry their cigars since many of my favorite cigar shops have a sort of "camp fire" feel to it and those are by far my favorite places to smoke and shop.
It all depend.s quite simply some will age fantastic after 15 years ageing some will age horribly. You do not know until you try it. Eddie sahakian in london is the best man to learn from for ageing cigars
Neat.
Anyone think that the davidoff lancero is worth $100 today? they sell for about 100usd in my local shop in Canada. I am tempted but my choices are spending $600 on 3 cigars or buying 2 boxes in the US over xmas. My local shop just got behikes, 55th anniversary cohibas, year of the dragon davidoffs, davidoff lancero, etc. Each cigar is between 150-400cad.
Should have done a Side by Side with the New Davidoff Lancero
I bought a box of opus X from a guy that said that they were in the humidor for 20 years the humidification must have been terribly off in that humidor because the cigars were dry out and terrible I tried to save them but couldn’t I lit my money on fire 😢
Hey guys, what did that 30 year old davidoff set you back?
Kirby Allison and the Sahakians would be proud,.. bravo gentlemen 👏
I have 14 year old Nat Sherman, 1930 super lanceros- I have smoked one and have 9 more that are aging. One of the smoothest sticks Ive ever had.
I’ve gotta Winston Churchill I’ve been saving for like 6 months, I might have to burn down a Davidoff with u guys
I don't think I've ever seen somebody look more uncomfortable and awkward smoking a cigar than Dustin. Looks like his first time smoking a cigar and was quite humorous.
Aged 30 years aye? How many hundred dollars are one of those lol? I’d love to try something like that, but i think probably a little out of my price range. I really like AJ Fernandez new world (the Nicaraguan one.) and the La Gloria Serie R Maduro. Have you guys trying the Bone shaker maul? I’m thinking about getting some to try.
Probably a few hundred, I think Cuban Davidoff was something like 1300$ or something

I think Tristan bought one for 1300 pounds. It might have been a slightly different one tho
I’ve always found Davidoff to age particularly well Cuban and the new world Davidoff.
Agreed
I think for aged cigars of this caliber should have been paired with an aged spirit, those old notes I would bet would have been brought out much friendlier with an aged scotch whiskey.
Looking good gap tooth, blue III?
How wondderrful kirrrby.
I love Eddie... His father Edward Sr. Is an absolute gentleman as well.
No cigar company can even compete with Davidoff my opinion only is the 🔝
There's a little ass shop close to me that has the black label (Nicaraguan)
seems like much more smoke off the new Davidoff but it should be good considering the price point of them
With my cigars I don’t see the point of holding onto a lot of them or expensive ones they’re made to be smoked and enjoyed. They arent made to just sit in a humador for years, you might aswell just have a picture of them, the only time I would save a cigar is if I know there is a very limited amount and I have to have atleast more than one so I can actually try it, I feel like knowing what it tastes like and what experience you get from the cigar also makes the cigar more valuable to you. The only other time I would age one is if it was a gift but if I’m using my own money I’m smoking them.
1984 Cuban Dunhill is the oldest I have had
What was that like 👀
@Constantin Rossetti different than any newer Cuban's that I have had. Muted notes and mild. A good cigar, but not a great one either.
I thought, and could be wrong, that Davidoff will only allow their cigars to be sold to shops if they are a certain distance from another approved Davidoff shop…
Watching and listening to guys who age Cuban cigars almost always say they benefit hugely from extended aging. Perhaps it's the Cuban tobacco that lends itself to that process? Obviously conditions need to be perfect, but maybe new world cigars peak much earlier than Cubans?
I can't imagine having a cigar and not smoking it
Id be buying them from another online store just to have them. Holts sells em to anyone.
CORRECTION: El Rey del Mundo Grandes de España is the FIRst Lancero (Lagito No. 1) ever produced (pre 1960) with an identical vitola (Delicados) !
By the way if you want to slow the aging on your cigars keep them in the celophane. I do this anyway but it acts like a time capsule and significantly slows aging. Dont beleive me beleive Edward Sahakian who runs the number one cigar store and lounge in the world. I dont understand how people watch a channel that says that 5 years is too long to keep cigars in your humidor. Thats insane and they must take very bad care of their cigars for that to be true. The average age of my cigars is about 7-10 years old with many new cigars and many that are up to 20 years aged. I have yet to smoke a cigar that is over 10 years old that has performed in a way that has made me question my storage. I have smoked many cubans that require a solid 3-4 more years before they mature and many times they get even more mellow but dont lose their flavour after 10 years. I understand that this is subjective to a degree, however, the most reputable conisseurs in the world disagree with this channel. When it comes to research and experts I tend to listern to, because of my own experiences with their advice, those with Master of Havana Cigar certificates and many out of London.
I have a difficult time keeping a cigar in my humidor a month.. much less 30 yrs 😆
Is this the same one Tristan smoked?

Interesting to hear that a Cuban cigar tastes like it’s from Cuba
I smoked me a Gurkha cellar reserve, I think the band said it was 21 years old 😂🤣
was slick Willie a Davidoff man?
I think 1 year in your humidor and then they are ready to smoke. Longer it stsrts to lose flavor in my opinion
Real Cuban Cigars are not aged before they release them for sale, basically they are rolled boxed and send off to retailers, that is why Cuban cigars are perfect for aging if you have the means to store them in a controlled environment, that being said 3-10 years will be a good time for the cigar to age and bond those flavors, "New World Cigars" is a different story, they are aged for at least 3 years before they hit the retailers shelfs so aging a cigar for too long it may not be beneficial, 2-5 years may be more suitable if you wish to age a cigar after that there is a chance that it may be either great or bad, it is recommended that if you wish to aged some cigars they need to be in the medium to strong cigar so with time it gets a little mellow, everyone have different opinions, if you love to enjoy cigars just smoke them, if you have a good amount of cigars in your humidor it is most likely that some aging will take place if you keep buying and not smoking a lot.
the davidoff primeros and cigarillos are short filler, not full leaf btw
Remember. They have been in perfect humidity for its entire life
