Together 32 years, married 8 years, I can’t imagine my life without my husband. A few years ago I was diagnosed with stage3 cancer. It was a lot to go through, for myself personally, and as a couple. He was my strength during all aspects of my treatment. He was my protector, and my hero. When we had our last meetings with my surgeon and radiologist, they both told us privately that in all their years of practice, they had never had a couple who were so devoted to each other. We were a bit embarrassed and shocked because we are who we are. It was a nice compliment, but we’ve always felt this way about each other.
My husband and I did everything backwards -- we decided to move in together as college roommates before we even dated or even knew the other one was gay. Thirty years later, here we are! We've always been monogamous and really love it. But we've never been bored with each other, we're always clowning around and making each other laugh. I honestly think that ppl stay together when they are playful with each other. That creates a bond and a comfortability that encourages communication naturally, and that works much better than forced, serious conversations (although they will always exist in life too). But to be playful, you have to take some time every day to go for a walk or a drive or something where you give undivided attention. These guys seem like a lovely couple, wishing them lots of happiness ahead
I really fell in love with their mindset, they're so mature and grown up and this is rare in our community, especially between the Gen-Z and millennia ... thanks art for doing such an epic interview with cute and lovely couples
I have a gay cousin that has been in a monogamous relationship for 32 years and married 12 of them and I wish you guys the same for many many more !!!! I would bet that they have a stronger healthier relationship than most straight couples I wish I could hit the like button 100 times !!! Best wishes and happy holidays to all of you 👍❤️❤️🌈🌈
I was married. As Trevor and Jesse said calm and honest communication is what can make a marriage/long term relationship work or make both miserable. Gay or straight it is about the most important thing in a relationship. My husband and I struggled with it. We only had about 10 years together which wasn't enough time to fine tune it. I am a widow....so, yeah, there's that. Thanks Art for this wonderful video.
I am 100% monogamous and faithful, I have had two steady relationships and had to give them both up with great sorrow, the first in 1996 (Stan) to cancer, the second in 2011 (Jos) to cerebral hemorrhages, both died in my arms. Since then I have been leading a single/celibate life.
Really enjoyed their story! I met my partner at Saddle Tramps (Think they just call it Tramps now) in Oklahoma City in 1985. We had 15 great years together before he passed. Oklahoma City always felt like a safe place for me. In ways, I think it was safer back then. Love your content Art and so glad you found a special person.
You did an excellent job interviewing them & they were a great, well spoken couple who I enjoyed hearing their story. They are proof that the stereotype of a gay relationship isn't a monolith.
Hi Art. It's been a blessing for both men who are in a long monogamous relationship for 17 years together. Love wins! ❤️ 🏳️🌈👏 Merry Christmas to you all and New Year 2023!
Trust, Communication, and giving each other space when needed I feel is the secret to a long term relationship. The problems occur when one or the other in that relationship, begins to believe that they are better with someone else than to try and be better together. Both parties need to work on the relationship it's not a one way street. One can't always give and the other only take. it has to be mutual. IMHO ....I just love the lights coming from their Christmas decorations gives the video a nice feel. It's strange how I can see myself at times in their story.
Good interview Art and they seem like a fun couple to know. Sorry the premier didn't work but quick work by you and Mike made it available so we could see it. Thanks for your efforts I really enjoyed the interview.
Art: I’m so impressed with your interviewing skills; you never are at a lose for a great question. Your follow up skills are great. You really need to make this a career. You have that Oprah “ like ability” gene! Love ken and bob ( 30 yrs) Florida
This is a great interview. Trevor and Jesse had excellent answers. It blows my mind how Art knows exactly the right questions to ask, it's like he knows precisely where the diamonds (wisdom answers) are located, and he drills tenaciously to get them out of the mine (mind). Superb energy between host and guests, plenty of humor. Art would be a smash hit hosting any late night talk show. Attention CBS: Your replacement for James Corden's retirement is the talented Ukranian guy on this channel (and the Art in The Park channel). Get him under contract NOW! 🏆❤️
Good questions Art , They both are very sincere and explain easily their relation and their feelings . They give good advices too... Longlasting relationship is not easy, believe me. You need trust , determination and a great dose of love and humor .... (36 years mariage here )...🙂
What a great interview! Art you are becoming a skilled interviewer 😅 it was nice to hear two men who are emotionally mature talk so openly about what makes their relationship work so well though the years. I hope you and Pumpkin experience such long-term ❤️ ❤
Fascinating interview and conversation with these two guys on what's helped to make their long-term relationship work. Trust and communication seems to be a major component. One of your best videos Art! 👍😉🤙
I love this video!!! Great job, Art! I've been with my boyfriend about 6-months and this video has giving me some awesome insight to long terms relationships. I hope y'all have many more happy years together!
Jesse and Trevor, you are superheroes in the gay community and for the gay community you n the world! You’re actually fulfilling the broader human purpose of human sexuality, which betters and grows two people ver time as they unite on one level based on chemistry and eventually as a total fusion of persons/energy.
this is so wonderful. What a nice couple. I showed this to my husband Justin. Married for 7 years. The most beautiful guy in the world plus his golden heart. So we both have a long way to go......in love... All our very best
Great interview with Trevor and Jesse, Artem. I hope they come back for more interviews. I watched the video with my BF and I learned a lot. For example, as we were both watching the vid, I asked him "How long have we been together, can you remember what year it was?" He said we've been together since 1999 when we met one night at Splash (bar in Chelsea, NYC), 23 1/2 years ago! So, I learned how long we are together. Of course, we were only two years old when we met, but I digress. I'm terrible with dates, times, ages, years, anniversaries. I should either write it down somewhere (I will), or just keep coming back to this page and refer to my comment to find out when we met, LOL. Trevor and Jesse seem to have it all under control, just like me and Steve. ❤❤💋. Space is definitely important.
Art, this is so nice. I'm glad you had these nice people on and everything all of you had to say was very interesting. I've been away from gay life for a long time so I really enjoy your interviews and learning about what things are like now. Hugs, Kev
Adorable couple. This is what i also want. A committed monogamous relationship. Monogamy is very important to me. Hope i find my man one day. I'm 28 yrs old
I'm watching this on your channel and I must say that this was outstanding to watch and that your interviews skills are AMAZING!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍GREAT JOB!!!!❤
This was an excellent interview with a very informative and inspirational couple. Together they gave perspective on what it means to be committed and how to succeed in a relationship. Thanks for their sharing their journey together.
I loved the video, the couple and you Art,that is doing a great work of information with wise questions and humor.Thank you for entertaining us with class and so much love.Love from Brazil.
Very good interview, Art. Excellent questions and follow-up questions. Good pacing. I am sure you put a lot of time in for the editing, and it was very well done. I would enjoy seeing more of this couple, if you do a follow-up interview. It would be interesting to talk to them again after their wedding. ♥
It looks like Trevor could pass as a drag queen if Jesse every wants to play straight again. What a loving and well-balanced couple. Everyone should be so lucky ... gay or straight!
I’m at 17 years next month myself. My advice, have your space apart and also time together. It’s a nice balance. And don’t put any preconditions on the relationship. 😌
Great interview like always Art. You have such a calm open demeanor that lets people spill. (You should work for CIA!) But, a 16 and up drag bar in OK in 2005??? Holy Fk! Seems like we've moved backwards since then in some ways. I love how Trevor wormed his way into Jesse's life. 'Oh hi honey. just dropping by to see my bestie'. 😂 And the drama with his old bf: 😂😂😂 It's like a gay Mean Girls/Dynasty mashup.
Wonderful interview Art! I heard about a gay couples being together for a long time but never seen it in an interview. I also agree it's great to give each other space in a relationship and communication. This is great interview to see as a younger gay guy. I hope to have what they have someday. P.S. my question for Trevor and Jesse would be what advice would you have for a gay person who has never really been in a relationship before but wants to be?
I would say - don’t rush into a relationship just because you want to be in a relationship. You have to make sure it’s the right person… and grow together. Be honest from the beginning & share what you want & don’t want in the relationship. That way there are no surprises. And - as we mentioned - communication. Even when something is uncomfortable, you have to talk about what’s on your mind.
@@JesseHamilton Hey! what a surprise to get a response from you! Thank you for your advice. I will take heed of it. I am currently single and not in a relationship and never really have been yet, plus I'm continuing to work on myself more but I will make sure I keep in mind what you mentioned in your comment. Thanks again!
My husband and I have known each other 40 years and we've been a couple for 37, married almost 11. Absolute monogamy and the friendship before helped. We just don't fight, argue...we go through life as a couple that functions as one. iTunes gets better every day .
Great interview...my longest relationship was 11 years and totally agree with them on all counts...currently 2 years into my current relationship after 10 years of being single...so far so good 😊
I love your gay-in-the-street shorts. It's awesome to have this longer one sometimes to explore things in depth. Really sweet couple😍 Are there stats that say gay relationships are shorter than str8? Or is that a stereotype. It would make sense b4 gay marriage since commitments were only verbal. So maybe over time the avg. for gay evens out to str8.
8:33 in my opinion, gay people do break up more than straight people because they’re living being pushing for the rest of the world to break up. even if it’s not explicit, it’s there. parents, siblings, relatives, friends, coworkers, people from church… they are pushing all the time for them to break up. it’s not about being sluts or casuals or whatever. it’s hard to live when the “good people” don’t let you do this on your own.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Me and my BF (Jeff) have been together 40 years now. All relationships have there struggles, however, I believe that loving each other, NOT try to "change" each other, and good communication is the key to a long, loving, relationship! 💯💕 Learn to "grow together, and not apart".🥂🍾💕 Also, "think about" what you say BEFORE you say it....because once you say it you can never take it back!!🤔 I Love You Art!! 💕 (and yes, my BF knows it, and it's ok...lol) We would love to have you visit us here in Knoxville, TN sometime??? That’s very adorable ❤️👬💪… I hope Michael and me can manage the same 💪👌👍… we are in a monogamous relationship as well and both of us don’t want anything else!!! We have some gay friends living in an open relationship… their intention, but nothing for us 🤷♂️👬… 👋👋👋
Hey Art, I'm new to your channel. I have subscribed. Great video. You are so cute! I enjoyed the couple's sharing their personal life with us. Merry Christmas 🎅
When I was younger at 27 my life was a mess. I was at the lowest point in my life. Do you want to know more, I might have something that might help you as you have helped me. 🙃!

Love to hear stories of successful marriage, gay or straight. Sounds like you're doing okay with the cancer right now? Keep fighting, you can do it!!
Ok we get it
My husband and I did everything backwards -- we decided to move in together as college roommates before we even dated or even knew the other one was gay. Thirty years later, here we are!

Love the interview with Trevor and Jessie. Wow!!! 17 years. Way to go Artem. 💪💪👑👑 Art you are so handsome in the video.
Absolutely loved the interview! Loved the part where they were separated and were annoying each other to try to get back together hahaha
Thank you Art for asking honest real-life questions. I sincerely appreciate the candor and subsequent responses. Good on you mate.
