    Gale, I for one am astounded and thankful for guys like you. I myself am a hotrodder at heart and know any vehicle can be made more efficient and put more power to pavement with the right tools and products. God has blessed you with the talent and skill to do things some men only dream of. I just wish that the fuel industry would produce a higher grade of diesel with higher cetane numbers. Companies that produce renewable diesel fuel have cetane #'s between 70-90. G-diesel produced by ARC in Nevada is right behind them, followed by B20, B5, Roadmaster XL Premium Diesel and Chevron.

The power is much better, but simple physics tells you it takes more energy to accelerate something more quickly. You're gonna burn more gas, and smile while you do it.

      @bankspower  3 роки тому +1

      The Derringer for the LM2 is currently in development alongside a few other Derringer products like the Ram 6.7L Cummins and the Jeep EcoDiesel. Like any company, we have a staggered rollout period for new products, with the Derringer, we are going to be releasing the Heavy duty tuning for the Cummins and the Power Stroke engines first in the spring. After these are complete, we plan on rolling out the light-duty Derringer tuning like the Ram/Jeep EcoDiesel and LM2 Duramax Derringer tuners.

      Banks Power I just finished my install and have driven it around for about 20 miles. I am extremely pleased with the linear power delivery and smoothness of it. I purchased the kit with just the switch as I did not want any extra gauges showing in my truck, I actually flipped the switch to sport and tied it up in the fuse panel with the extra wiring because I will not take it off of that. I would say the toughest part of the install was getting the wiring into the cab because that boot is very thick. For anybody wanting this I highly recommend it just be careful of the brittle GM connectors because they will break.

    What does it mean when the box turns off? I’m a little unclear if this is normal if I add a turner or is this just to be expected

    • @johnsiebert7023
      @johnsiebert7023 5 років тому +1

      I just installed mine last week. It's got a simple toggle switch to select off, plus, and sport mode. That's one way the box "turns off" off, but I believe they point they were making in the video is that the competitive boxes corrupt the factory ECU such that it doesn't function properly if the tuner suffers a power failure or other malfunction. The Derringer is piggybacked on the existing ECU, but doesn't actually corrupt the programming. So if it fails or malfunctions, the factory ECU and programming is right there to run the motor as well as it ever did.
      Does that address what you're asking?

    We just need to get rid of the EPA and CARB emissions regulations and get better emissions through tuning, not by adding things onto an engine and choking it down.

    • @rocketssss6
      @rocketssss6 6 років тому +1

      When you open your eyes to it not being about "emissions" and more about "using more fuel" you slowly realize the issue. There are many other systems that don't require fuel dumped into the exhaust that work far better, yet they have been using these systems for 10 years now. Tuning = Cleaner emissions every time. Dpf = more gallons of fuel burned over the life of a vehicle. Making emssions devices on vehicles removal a crime is a crime in itself. The government does not have the authority to tell me what to do with my personal property after I own it.

    • @joshtheking1772
      @joshtheking1772 6 років тому +1

      The problem lies with those who like to "Roll coal". That's where all the emissions stuff started. Just to make the problem worse Volkswagen decided to exacerbate the problem by using illegal emission defeating systems to pass smog checks. Then people started to sell delete systems for "Off-road use only" and you are wondering why all this stuff is here? Well the problem is all in the "UA-cam Certified Mechanics" that are out there. This is no different then the 60's and 70's with gas engines. It's just a different fuel medium. Biggest thing to remember when tuning your diesel is this. Black smoke is power that you can see but can't use. It's amazing how much of an effort someone like Gale goes through to give you a powerful diesel without killing your investment.

    • @philiplogemann314
      @philiplogemann314 6 років тому

      ask any diesel guy if you are going to make more power with no smoke or black smoke, the answer is more smoke because the less smoke the higher the air/fuel ratio, less potential energy, less power. The amount of time someone rolls coal vs. normal driving where there isn't smoke rolling out is so small, and when you are accelerating when you want the most power to get up to speed. Everyone complains about how slow trucks accelerate, how often do you see old semis (no emissions) blowing smoke driving down the highway or interstate, not many, when they accelerate they are trying to get up to speed you choke those down with emission it just slows them down. Also people complain about how expensive products are becoming, one reason is because of the increased cost to purchase and maintain these emissions engines used to transport goods.

      While many Derringer owners see a slight gain in fuel economy, we haven't made any official claims of fuel economy gains. This is mainly because the tuner was designed to add horsepower. To do that, we command fuel and boost to maintain as close to stock AFR as possible. The bottom line, if you drive conservatively, you'll likely see a small gain in MPG. If you drive more aggressively, you'll likely see a slight decrease in fuel economy.

      Banks Power the module you tested connects to the fuel pressure sensor, two or 3 wires. the module I am pointing out connects DIRECTLY TO THE injector harness. the harness that controls the fuel injectors. each connector connects to 3 injectors. 6 wires for the front bank and 6 for the rear bank, 12 for the injectors. look at the photos on the web site, or lookup a video of the install. you will see that they disconnect the injector harness, NOT the fuel rail pressure sensor, the kit I'm showing has nothing to do with the F.R.P sensor. look carefully and you will see it. the kit has 4(6 pin) weather pack connectors, front and rear bank. front in/out & rear in/out. hope that clarifies the question. LMK. thanks

      The Derringer is an inline tuner. It does not alter the truck’s ECM in any way, unlike a flash tuner that permanently alters the truck’s ECM. Treat the Derringer as you would with altering the truck’s suspension. Most dealerships understand accessories like upgraded suspension systems are harmless, however, some dealers are not as forgiving. Always check with your service advisor prior to dropping off your truck. Are they ok with aftermarket accessories? When in doubt, simply remove the Derringer and engine harness. It takes less than 10 minutes. After removal its presence is undetectable.

    • @bankspower
      @bankspower  5 років тому +1

      Maximizing fuel economy is a very challenging task. The best way to accomplish it is to lean out the air-fuel ratio. Adding a Banks Ram-Air will allow the truck to command more boost and improve the AFR. Now, getting rid of the #truckbro power, that's a whole 'nother story. 🤣

    Does the derringer work with factory warranty or is going to void it just as other programmers do?

    • @bankspower
      @bankspower  6 років тому +1

      The Derringer is not a programmer. It does not alter the ECU in any way. It's an inline tuner. When you remove it, it leaves no footprint.

      pretty much, what they're saying is if you take it out before taking it to Gm. They will never know the difference lol

    L5p is cracked and can get emmisions intact custom tuning so you might as well get that over a box

      Are you aware of how much that option costs? Not everyone wants to spend that coin and have no chance at retaining warranty. C’mon now.

      Yeah for someone wanting a little more power the derringer is great but to say it's the best isn't true just a better option out there for more money but the guys that want big power tend to shell out the money

    Can someone please tell me how is it automatics are better? All this could have been avoided with a pedal and shifter

    • @utahcountypicazospage5412
      @utahcountypicazospage5412 4 роки тому

      Automatic is constant power thru shifting manual releases power every time that clutch is pressed which means the turbo also blows off rather then staying spulled up thru shifts when modifying this is a major advantage

    Alright Gale you don't have to BS us like you are doing around the 9:00 mark. We're not drag racing most of the time and I don't remember the last time I took my truck from 0-90mph or even 0-60 at WOT. Most of us get on our trucks every once in a while but rarely to WOT. You are better than that sort of crap and we are smarter than to buy that kind of BS.

    • @bankspower
      @bankspower  6 років тому +1

      There are plenty of use cases where guys are at wide open throttle and need more power. Take for example our customer Walter who lives above Denver. When he pulls his 40' fifth wheel up the grade at high altitude, he's at wide open throttle because of the lack of oxygen. Well, that was until he bought the Derringer. Now he has some headroom. Or, how about when you're towing and you're trying to pass a semi truck? Here's what we suggest to those that don't believe us. Join the Banks Derringer Owners' Facebook group. There are 400+ members who can give you plenty of real-world experience. Poll them randomly and ask if they ever drive WOT. You'll be amazed. Side note, the page is run by owners, not us. Finally, you'll want to note that the Derringer adds power beginning at 35% throttle. It's not all top-end power as it was when we released this video.

      I'll agree with you there but that's not what the video illustrated. It just showed a WOT run from 0-90 mph. Now when towing something heavy up a heavy grade I can understand the need for WOT but then for that example you shouldn't be shifting through multiple gears. Don't get me wrong I like Banks Power I just thought that particular part of the video was outside the realm of normal driving. If you reread my comment I mentioned the 0-90 mph run and that was part I had an issue with. The idea of driving an unladen truck at WOT. I know that Banks Power can load their dyno to simulate pulling a loaded trailer up a grade and if that had been the example, like later in the video when demonstrating what happens when power is lost, I would not have had an issue. Like I said earlier Gale is better than that sort of cheap marketing ploy. I have a ton of respect for Gale Banks and I am planning on buying some Banks products for my 2008 Dodge 6.7 Cummins.

      You obviously don't live where I live. Every diesel truck around here is racing all over the place at wot, belching soot out the exhaust at levels that would give Al Gore an anurism, while yelling "ROLL COAL!!!" out the window every 5 seconds.
      I'm only slightly exaggerating.
      Plenty of people drive at wot just because they can. They enjoy it. They never use their trucks to tow or work, they use their trucks to go fast and make smoke and do burnouts on 40in tires, or 33in tires on 28in wheels.

    Does the derringer stiffen the shift in the transmission?

    • @bankspower
      @bankspower  3 роки тому +1

      No, the Derringer does not stiffen the shift of the transmission. The Derringer intercepts MAP and FRP signals.
