I like to put coins into the coils of springs to space them out and extend the spring.
That works incredibly well. Thank you for mentioning this as I had completely forgotten about that method, and my center stand will be here any day now!
Hey dude.. thanks for posting your awesome vids. I have a 1981 C70.. basically did everything you've posted..that Center Stand was a PAIN IN THE ASS man! First my exhaust would not break loose from the head.. took plenty of tweaking, lubrication, heat, repeat. Finally broke loose. Then that friggin' Center Pin on my bike was completely seized. I hammered away and lubricated for HOURS.. nothing. I finally bought a new Center Pin and just cut off the seized one with a 4" grinder..Holy Crap - problem solved and Center Stand installed. Whew!

Does the part that the spring clips too easily screw Into something?
Hey! It looks like I bought the exact same stand for my 83 c70. However I’m having an issue with it being too low in the “up” position. Seems like the metal tab and rubber wedge are hitting that metal rod in front of the stand leaving no room to retract. Since you have the same year; did you have that issue as well?
I didn't have any issue with mine. Wish I could be more help.

+Jeremy Weyant got mine off eBay for about $32 shipped to the door. That spring was a pain to get on but otherwise not too bad.
