    Thanks for the video. Is it safe to assume that all 110 mm soil pipe is solvent weldable? I would hate to drill a hole and find out that it isn’t! :-/

    I was going to install a proper boss to our downstairs loo as the old washing machine waste pipe was just bodged into the back of the flexible pan connector with all that horrible brown gunky tape on it but because we have ripped it out anyways and we will be replacing the toilet drains underground as they kept blocking up with sewage every time it was used, so to be safe than sorry I have run the new washing machine waste to the gully outside in solvent weld instead. Still a very good demonstration though and I’ll consider trying this next time round I want to install some more pipe work for new facilities

    Nice. Mckalpine do a compression type one that clamps from the internal. They are pretty good.

      They are good for cast iron soil pipe but i don't think they are good for pvc as plastic pipe is quite thinner than cast iron to catch the mcalpine rubber washer.

    Can you do a 4in into a 4 in pipe or does it always need to be a smaller size?

    Hi Dan. Can you use silicone sealant instead of the adhesive? I have just 1 to replace and have some freshly opened sealant but would have to buy the adhesive just for this one small job?

      Hi Neil, I do know quite a few plumbers that do use silicone...... However I have been on a job many years ago where a plumber used silicone and it ended up leaking all over the kitchen floor. So on that note I never will use silicone and would recommend buying a tin of cement. Hope this helps Neil many thanks mate!

    If I have a standard push fit soil pipe can I use a solvent weld boss connection (will they stick)?

    • @PlumbingGy
      @PlumbingGy  4 роки тому

      As long as you do not use it on a connection point it will be OK

    • @PlumbingGy
      @PlumbingGy  3 роки тому

      Hi there, not quite sure how it falls but it shouldn't matter as long as you have the fall required from the shower over the correct distance. As low as possible 👍🏻

    Can you put a strap-on boss under the floor screed?

    • @PlumbingGy
      @PlumbingGy  3 роки тому

      As far as I'm aware it should be fine however a base of 100mm I'd recommend and also to test prior to screeding, then cover in a poly membrane to protect the plastic from the cement
