As the weather suddenly got warmer in July, salmon fishing slowed down for a few days. Luckily, I caught a king salmon bite during evening fishing and released it.
There is no retention for king salmon until July 14th. Check the federal government website for regulations, salmon fishing requires barbless hooks.
Nice fish, I'll definitely be stopping on the 14th if I strike out in Campbell River.

@@swingthefly on the 12th the DFO posted that chinook will open up on Monday the July 15th. You can go to the DFO’s website and read the notices.

@@swingthefly The Nile Creek area is booming with pinks right now. Since it's high tide in the evening the fish are very active. I highly advise to make a trip and dust off the fly rod!
