I know this version of X-Terminator had some luck in its Heat Final, but holy shit they made a monster of a robot. That spinner was legit, and it took out its biggest weakness four matches in a row. It's a shame it was too broken to do much against Tornado. A fully working X-Terminator had a chance.
I’m at least happy X-Terminator didn’t let Tornado get third without a fight, they knew they were getting 4th from the very beginning of the battle with them but they were willing to put on a show with a hobbling machine. Fantastic Robot, love em’
A perfect example at around 21 minutes of why vertical spinners can benefit from having a 'feeder' wedge beneath the disc. Bulldog Doodah's floor-scraping front flipper should have been perfect against X-T's high-mounted weapon, but that feeder wedge lifted Bulldog Breed's snout just enough for the disc to hit it, buckle it, shred it, and leave the poor ol' dawg toothless. Excellent footage for fans of design evolution!
Another example of that is Monsoon (UK Vertical Spinner) in Battlebots. It had "Feeder forks" on the sides of it's vertical bar that served the same purpose you just described. And it showed in Monsoon's fight against Red Devil in Battlebots.
A great example of how much it affected the bot is also after the Typhoon fight, he lsot the feeder wedge and just got manhandled by a low profile bot.
I kind of do miss the low walls that allowed robots to be flipped out of the arena. The high walls are nice for security, but they don't allow for that kind of knockout.
The trouble is that a lot of modern Flipper robots throw robots 6-12 feet in the air, let alone verticals, modern robot wars would of been all OOTA with a low wall
Tsunami should have just left X-Terminator right where they were on their back since they couldn't self right from their position, they had the fight won. Big mistake from Tsunami to try and flip X-Terminator out of the arena.
Yep. They should have followed the example of Graham Bone and Firestorm against Panic Attack. "I didn't think we could get them out, so I decided, they're on the wall, leave them there."
I agree 100% hammer, if was thinking "why the fuck would you hit x terminator when they had him on the wall he couldn't go anywhere, then tsunami hits em and frees him lmfao
Had the privilege to see the one of the Extreme 1 versions of X-Terminator (the version which fought Panic Attack in a Vengeance) way back when. As much as I was extremely hyped at their performance in Series 7.. X-Terminator without an axe will always be a weird sight to me. It had an excellent flywheel which only weighed 15kg at the time, fairly light compared to some flywheels we were seeing then.
X-Terminator were very lucky in that heat final if Tsunami had held back and let X-Terminator be counted out the 7th wars run would be over right there.
@@RetroAdzzAlso Team Scutterbots’ Series 3 & 4 entries, Scutter’s Revenge & Spawn of Scutter, named after the Scutter robots which infrequently appeared in Red Dwarf. I recall Craig commenting on that in Series 3 before the after fight interview with the team, saying “I wonder what a Scutter is”.
When that disc is shown near the end of the fight with Typhoon on Exterminator, that Exterminator disc wobbled side to side badly. Oh my. Something came loose on one of those massive hits.
X-Terminator reminds me of an old First World War tank, like the German A7V; big, imposing, slow and maybe a little clumsy but definitely not to be underestimated especially in the right hands.
i feel if this x terminator came back slimmed down a bit and clad in hardox it would still be a firce today I feel. Was a relentless machine that had a series 9 aftershock esque run great stuff
Its a completly different style of weapon, X-Terminator was optmised for slicing armour up, Aftershock is optimised more for blunt impact, massive uppercuts tat send opponents flyign up and possibly dislodge some of their electrics
9:00 sometimes less is more.... He shouldve left him alone an let him be counted out... You won dude why flip him back over... You got greedy for that arena out and it cost you everything.... AND they wrecked your bot for it..... Fools... Thats greed for you
Awesome fights and great robot builds but I don't think it was fair after he beat Cinagro the match should have been over and not letting the house bots go in and just try and destroy Cinagro cause he didn't have a fight with them and now he has to spend more money than he should have to fix his bot to come back or maybe even have to build a new one because of it. Just my opinion i understand it's a battle and bots will be destroyed but the destruction should only come from his opponent cause they are expensive to built fix and maintain. Any way thank you for reading my comment and have a wonderful day/night.
john martin I agree, it seems like a shame to build a bot for years to have your rival disable a wheel, and sir killalot to burn, poke, and crush your bot into being totaled.
House bots are pretty obviously the worst part of Robot Wars & the best thing absent in BattleBots. In boxing matches, there aren’t people standing at the corners of the ring that will punch you in the back of the head if you get too close.
Blooper Sphoof I understand the nature of the argument for them, but I’ve just always felt that another human controlled robot inside the arena, besides those competing themselves, throws unnecessary variables into the mix versus static hazards such as pits, flippers or fire pits. As someone that actually made the jump from MMA to robot combat from Kenny Florian’s involvement in BB, I suppose I have a different view than most veteran enthusiasts, which is understandable. Didn’t mean to come off hostile!
I agree, the House Robots are compleatly unnecessary. X Termanator was able to disable his opponents without the House Robots. They just make things worse.
@@BlooperSphoof1 The flame pit or normal pit etc are a known variable. They are there. They don't change. You would have a point if the house bots weren't picky. But sometimes it's like they try to rig the fights. They will barely move to attack a robot in one time, and in the next one they might just completely destroy a bot. It's complete bullshit.
X-terminator boys got too arrogant with their new weapon..... look at them laying into an immobilized bulldog breed at 21:20.... they just keep hitting it and hitting it.... not very sportsmanlike... It's like stomping on an opponent who is already on the ground.... Need to find a good compromise between a destruction and not being a prick... Typhoon 2 was their Karma.
Once a competitor has the victory by disabling an opponent, there is absolutely no need for the house robots to come in and batter it to pieces. Those things take ordinary people's money and hard work to build.
I found this team disrespectful when the match was over they still carried on and plus pure clowns wearing sunglasses indoors plus disrespectful keeping them on when being interviewed
With good driving and a bit of luck it's possible - Tombstone's armor is terrible! Just, for perspective, Tombstone is like, a couple times more powerful than Typhoon 2 and we know how that went. Still, this is a sport where anything can happen.
Xterminators disc is not that strong, especially vs horizontal forces. It was great at bending flipper flippers to render them useless though! There seemed to a lot of flippers and ram ramp bots in their path.
Logan 1664 Craig Charles. Now that I look at him, ain't he the one who played in that goofy Britcom, "Red Midget"? He looks familiar. I think it was shown back in the 1980s. With Holly the holigraph, the jolly mechadroid, and some slick cool cat-daddy Black dude with straight hair, fangs, that spoke in hep slang and sporting a James Brown persona.
Blooper Sphoof Oh "Red Drawf".Well "Red Shorty" "Red Hobbit", "Red Smirf", "Red Something Shorter than 4 feet tall" (Pah ha ha) I was close, just off by a few inches. Of course I've watched the goddamned show, here and there. It was years ago, So I've completely forgotten about it, up till now. How did you think I was able to reel off...oohhhh just forget it!! I've a notion I'm trying to speak with some Goddamned square! A complete AH-Duuhhh Dope!!!

By far the best version of X-Terminator. It even beat Terrorhurtz in a live event that’s how good it is.
22:12 I want that moment framed on the Robot Wars Hall of Fame!
Weirdly enough, the captain of the Major Tom team, Henry Ryan was my DT technician at school!
Really?
X-terminator using a spinner definitely had a big impact on their battles
C'est trop bien ce genre de vidéo, je ne m'en lasse pas !
For those who don't know, the guy who made killer carrot is also the guy who made sir killalot.
mad props for that!
I thought he made Mr Psycho, not Sir Killalot.
No i didn't know that
He didn't, he did the concept sketches for Mr. Psycho, Growler, and Cassius Chrome
That's cool

And then Tsunami gets knocked out of the arena? I say that's karma

@@Starborn3000 it's robotwars not battlebots, the show must go on.
Tornado is such a weird robot, not really having any weapons, but with just immense pushing power, torque and exceptional driving they keep winning.
Skill > power
Remember watching this stuff as a kid, had one series on disk that I must have rewatched thousands of times
I like how interviewer immediately pointed out how clownish it is too wear sunglasses indoors or when they're clearly not needed

X-Terminator were very lucky in that heat final if Tsunami had held back and let X-Terminator be counted out the 7th wars run would be over right there.
Series 7 saw the worst heat ever except Firestorm that Deserved to win finally and could have dominated Typhoon 2. Fuck Storm II,how much I hated it.
Such an improvement from the axe to the flywheel and whole redesign, I mean in series 4 what was that axe they had 😵😵
If I had a robot in the competition I'd name it Smeghead just to have Craig say it . Red Dwarf rules!
There was a robot called Inquisitor from S2 I think, which was named after the character from Red Dwarf

I’d say the weapon shaft was warped or the weapon hub was messed up

Did the announcer call tsunami "toosommy"?
Yes,u believe he did
I listened multiple times to be absolutely sure, and- yes. Yes he did.
Yep, he sure did.
This X-Terminator was such a monster
tazzmaniandevilboy42 indeed
I doesn’t hep most of the bots from this era was made of cardboard like armor so of course buts its still a good machine
tazzmaniandevilboy42 ur a monster
The lead-in music sounds like tiny bits of Verde's Requiem, 2nd movement, the Dies Irae.
Mantap...👍👍
From Indonesia..🙏
Now the weight limit isbup to 110 kg ,maybe put a roll over hoop on xterminator or fit a srimech to it
Damn this is so much better than battlebots lol, just discovered robot wars 😂
2:09 When everyone got obcessed with OUTA's for some reason
The end of the tsunami fight was the ultimate bm lol
This version of X-Terminator was definitely better.
Really miss robot wars both old and new quality TV what we got now reality bs
I wouldve loved to see tsunami outside of robotwars, they look rather compact for the time.
6:35 for a second I thought I am listening to Ricky Gervais... O_o
Anyone else finds the color of the voice similar? :D
X-terminator kicked ass in the seventh wars
Xterminator very lucky to be flipped off the wall ,very lucky robot no one would repeat that mistake .xt needs a roll over hoop
I commented this with atomic but why is in Series 4 X-Terminator is X-Terminator 2 but in every other series it’s X-Terminator
Lapping at the toe's of defeat. 🤣
i feel if this x terminator came back slimmed down a bit and clad in hardox it would still be a firce today I feel. Was a relentless machine that had a series 9 aftershock esque run great stuff
The lack of dancing around like Aftershock is the difference in weapon power - Aftershock is many times more powerful.
Its a completly different style of weapon, X-Terminator was optmised for slicing armour up, Aftershock is optimised more for blunt impact, massive uppercuts tat send opponents flyign up and possibly dislodge some of their electrics
I like there fight to much
EU TAMBEM QUERO PARTICIPAR DESSE LUTA
good old days
That jacket thow. LOL..
they win in my heart, really nice machine !
why is he saying tusami instead of tsunami? XD
Stuart McDonald (The announcer and also director) was known for his mispronunciations at times, even once introducing Dantomkia as "Dantomakaya"
I wonder if they'd let somebody stick a mop end on their bot to jam up the spinners.
They do now cause of carbide
I'd have liked to see this iteration of X-Terminator go up against Razer.
22:10 I love how he gets mad about them breaking his bot.... Thats the game dude.... If you cant take the heat stay out the kitchen....
Which robot is your favorite
gabriel 2

Anybody know the intro song?
Lets make a bot weapon that looks like the drill from the original total recall movie plzzzz we will call this bot Arnold!
I don't think x terminator builders even tested their flippers before they built it, still an awesome robot tho
someone should make a spinner blade out of a nickel tungsten alloy. tungsten for density and nickel to make the tungsten less brittle
Didnt know crispin glover was into battle bots
I like a good smash up as much as the next person, but that Bulldog Breed fight was not fun to watch. Unnecessary to keep hitting it once it was dead.
The fight with Typhoon 2 was karma.
I disagree, but I do feel they should have counted Bulldog Breed out much earlier.
As long it's still moving, which it did, it's a legit target.
Her name is "Middlemiss?" Really? 0.30
