Disgraceful really,, and the fact they smugly accepted their uk title win in those circumstances sums them up as competitors ffs. But this fight was utterly pathetic by this point,, and I truly believe the Razor lads had decided to sell the bot by this point,, theyd pretty much won everything with it and would have clearly added the euro title here as well if not for throwing this fight. Maybe the hassle of upgrading the motors and the expenditure wasnt worth it just to go one more series anyway,, the show by this point was being pimped out to channel 5 so the writing was on the wall,, 20k prize money was pointless hassle if they were selling the bot for more anyway. Theyd done it all and like George Francis they probably couldnt be bothered after this.

"Gifts" - They knew they couldn't advance through on a technicality of the rules; it was consciousness and knowing that a illegitimate victory was no victory at all; rather having another fight to decide once and for all. Tornado knew that Razer should have been counted out... there was nothing ungentlemanly about their gesturing whatsoever; if Razer didn't bring up the falseness of the decision making; I'm sure you'd be suspicious that it wasn't a genuinely sound decision.. Any Robot Wars fan would appreciate this too, let alone a Razer fan.

Tornado only had a chance Vs Razer/Razor(?) because of that frame which was a specialised defense vs RZR not the strengthening structure for weapon as claimed couldn't legitimately fit into the pit. Were it any smaller RZR could get at the actual vitals to wreck Tornado as it did in early battles.
Should never have done it. The judges gave to to Razer, that should have stood. Especially given Tornado's first victory in the US robot wars was based upon the judges mistaking Tornado's weapons motor for one of Razer's wheels and yet that still stood.
I’ve always loved Chaos 2. To me it begun the next generation of robots. But watching this in 2020 I couldn’t help but think it looks an awe full lot like an ho printer. Miss the chaos 2 team and wish they would resurface in the world of robot wars or battle bots. I’d love to see what that talented mind would create today!
I grew :up watching Robot wars, and I love it!!! still settle down to watch the re-runs. My daughter and I sit on my bed and munch crisps and guess who's going to win! Lol🤣🤔🇬🇧👍
I will say I was quite disappointed when Razer's original career ended after that downer match with Tornado....then they came back for Series 8 and got dragged into the pit. XD
Apparently there's no size restriction on robots, and the frame is allegedly a part of the weapon, which makes it interchangable for fights. IMO the rules are wrong, but the frame is technically legal.
They knew they wouldn't win having a standard battle with their robot so like the little girls they were they acted like pussys, I liked the tornado robot for a bit until towards the end of the later series when they just kept crying.
Razer was a great robot for its time, but it's horribly outclassed by the elite of today. Technology in robot combat has leapt ahead since the early 2000s and the competitors have far better weaponry and armour than what Razer used to deal with. Point of comparison- Razer couldn't get through Drillzilla's 10mm thick aluminium no matter how hard it tried. The team also said that they couldn't pierce the 7.5mm aluminium Infinity. Meanwhile, Carbide hit Coyote's 10mm Hardox jaws and absolutely mangled them. Razer's wedge is still pretty good and would probably still get under most things, but that would only take it so far; Razer's main construction is 2mm sheet steel, while Carbide, Aftershock etc are designed to eat thick Hardox Heck, Apollo, Eruption or Rapid could end Razer's hopes with a good flip; Razer's self righting wings were pretty fragile, and Chaos 2 once crippled them when it threw Razer a few feet into the air at a live event (Razer website). And that's not even getting into modern Battlebots....
I like Tornado. I do. But who the fuck were they fooling with that cage? It was clearly too big for the pit. Its clearly an exploit in the rules, because the pit measurement they go off was almost certainly corner to corner, not edge to edge. And there is no way to get the angle just right to get them in.
It is too big for the pit, but that's not the point. If Tornado gets pushed to the pit, the cage will just leave them dangling above it. *Tornado* can still fit in the pit, so it will just hang helplessly over it.
Worst thing about that first fight is Chaos 2 shouldn't have even been in it, since it lost in the heats of series 6. Only reason it was there at all was to stand in for another robot that wasn't available at the time
And for most of the fight you don't have to look very hard to see Razer not just bending the 30 second holding rule, but outright *flouting* it as they do in most of their fights.

I lose a lot of respect for a driver when they specifically try to force the opponent into a house robot. I don't know what it is, I don't mind the pit, I don't mind the flames, but I can't stand it when they use the house robot. I would also add that roboteers should not be allowed to alter their robots to the ridiculous extent that tornado did in the final fight. I have the same issue with them as I did with Bombshell in Battlebots. You should make a robot and be good enough with that robot to defeat the others, whatever the limitations of your design may be against the type of robot you're going up against.
Control is one of the judging factors in a Robot Wars fight. Forcing an opponent into a house robot is part of that control. It's also a good way to get teams to think tactically and put more emphasis on drive motors rather than just big weapons for bit damage. Imo it's one thing I think Battlebots hasn't got the right balance on

I just have an issue with the concept of the house robots in general. I know that technically they're just a hazard like any other, but there's something about them I don't like (I can't put my finger on it) Also I hold that drivers shouldn't be allowed to make such extreme modifications to their bots like what tornado did. It wasn't just adding armor or a defensive option, it made the other bot's entire design completely useless. It's like complete control using a net against ghost raptor in the 2015 season of battlebots.

Tornado didn't cheat because the size of the pit was 1m x 1m, the max size of Robot is 2m x 1.5m. if fact many robots at the time were too large for the pit. Razer didn't break rules (intentionally) because from 25:44 razer first grab Tornado. they then switch from front hook to rear hook at 26:11. At 26:31 razer starts to smoke resulting in reduced movement making them unable to put Tornado down. There still holding after cease because they physically can't put Tornado down.
after what pussycat did to them last time they were immobile you can't really blame them for wanting to hold onto their opponent and just lose on the judges with an undamaged robot rather than try to let them go and lose with a trashed robot. The judges decision surprised them as much as anyone.

Wtf. so lets just build a robot that is 20cm squared. then at the final we bolt on a mod that makes it the size of the arena, effectively trapping the opponent. Instant win.
Does the mod have offensive capabilities? Tornado had another weapon for the Hypno-Disc fight, but it wasn't allowed because it was solely for defense and Hypno-Disc raised an official objection.
The rules back then had a size limit for robots of 1.5mx2.0m which is why the judges had to rule the way they did. And as for deadliest... Carbide would have shredded Razer like a soda can because electric motor and battery advancements have been so huge over the last 15 years.
News just in, Footballer accused of being a cheater for kicking the ball with his foot. Whilst quite clearly within the rules, random people on youtube were very clearly angry at the apparent display of cheating.
in the world of spinning-slab-of-steel bots we have now a bot as uniquely fragile as razer would just get blown apart for no reason. I kind of miss the simpler days where a pincher was the "weapon of fear" rather than 1 of a million spinning metal bars
I think Tornado should of been disqualified for that metal webbing around thier bot. Making it unable to go into the pit. Should be against Robot Wars guidelines.
It’s called adapting to the competition. By that logic, anyone that put a self righter on during chaos 2 winning and anyone that put thicker armour on to counter hypno disc were cheating.

@@ExileOfSand but the rules allowed for robots larger than the pit. You look at some of the walkers that have entered and there's no chance they fit in the pit. Also razer didn't let go. They weren't suspended in the pit. They'd have a case if they had let them go

Weight limit of 100 kg. There is a size limit, and it's much bigger than the pit's width.

Razer, the deadliest battlebot in the history.. was a victim of a cheater called Tornado which didn't fit in the pit. Clear cheating.
The rules back then had a size limit for robots of 1.5mx2.0m which is why the judges had to rule the way they did. And as for deadliest... Carbide would have shredded Razer like a soda can because electric motor and battery advancements have been so huge over the last 15 years.

in the world of spinning-slab-of-steel bots we have now a bot as uniquely fragile as razer would just get blown apart for no reason. I kind of miss the simpler days where a pincher was the "weapon of fear" rather than 1 of a million spinning metal bars
I think Tornado should of been disqualified for that metal webbing around thier bot. Making it unable to go into the pit. Should be against Robot Wars guidelines.

It’s called adapting to the competition. By that logic, anyone that put a self righter on during chaos 2 winning and anyone that put thicker armour on to counter hypno disc were cheating.
@@tombardsley3081 There is adapting like adding a self righting mechanism or stronger armor, and then there is straight cheating where your robot could not realistically fit into the pit.
@@ExileOfSand but the rules allowed for robots larger than the pit. You look at some of the walkers that have entered and there's no chance they fit in the pit. Also razer didn't let go. They weren't suspended in the pit. They'd have a case if they had let them go
