They just have their panties in a twist. Jim Carrey and Ace Ventura is intended to be whacky just like dumb and dumber. It was Jim Carrey's shtick during the 90s. That's what also makes Jim perfect as a villain for Sonic.

The critics got this one wrong. I watched this in the Theatre when it was released and people were falling out of their seats laughing. I was too young to understand some of the jokes but most, if not all of the adults were just killing themselves with laughter.
I'm not surprised the professional critics didn't like it, it's a stupid humor movie which is too low brow for a lot of them. This was a popular movie back in the 90s and Jim was in his prime. I still think Dumb and Dumber is a better movie than this one though.
Her tweaking in the background for the entire scene gets me every time. Just watch some of the facial expressions she comes up with😂

What’s strange is the fact that Finkle’s plot relied mostly on luck for it to work. Imagine putting in all of the effort of changing identities and “climbing the corporate ladder”, and the Dolphins never make it another Super Bowl
Good point, but perhaps that plan only came into play once he saw the dolphins were coming close to getting another Super Bowl. The original plan could have been a frame job or a vast amount of things once he is a high ranking police officer.

Finkle had to try. He was aware that Ace was on to him like Podacter earlier. Thus, Finkle intended to have him shot in the crossfire. All the while, he had planned to kill Marino himself to cover his tracks. Finkle planned to make it look like the police killed both of them in the fight against the crooks. He didn't anticipate that Melissa would foil his plans by holding Emilio at gun point and convince the entire Miami police force to hear Ace out.
