I liked the video, and to answer the the question you asked: yes I would like to see more videos like this one. I would also like to see a video when you upgrade them to Loksound, and one when you do mt6 slugs to go with them. The SD38's has been one of my favorite Conrail locos. I saw them in service on many trips to Oak Island or Allentown yards in the 1980's -1990's. I love your other "How To" videos, especially the weathering of the Conrail engines with that layer of rust on the roofs that the SD38's always seemed to have . Thanks again Steve for the time and effort you put into making the videos and great job with your layout and your modeling - look forward to more great stuff!

Thank you! A rough estimate on locomotives total is somewhere around 200 give or take. Roughly 150 of that is all Conrail or projects that will eventually be Conrail. The other 50 or so are all foreign power.

That stinks! Ive been pretty lucky with new locomotives and not have issues like that but it does happen. You could email Athearn and see if they could send out a sunshade for it? I have heard they can be hard to get ahold of for part’s though.
@@ConrailSteve I think I’m gonna get some A-line etched brass ones, and paint them Conrail blue an use that as a replacement. Other than that, it’s a good loco. I put Kadee no. 5s on mine bc I don’t like the scale McHenry couplers…

Wish I could have seen Buckeye in action back in the day! It is sad to drive by it today and see it all gone.

6953 is hard to find finally found on ebay
I picked mine up from Lombard Hobbie a few weeks back. It always seems like every run one number always sells quick.
Steve-thanks for this video. I have a recent RTR SD40 that I couldn't get the shell to come off. Probably glue like your SD38!

Great Video Steve, but I always thought the 38's were mostly scrapped at the tail end of the Penn Central?
The 38’s made it all the way to CSX and NS with some still being in service on short lines to this day.

I got the same loco, # 6939, but the cab window shade was missing, I’m on the fence about sending it back or not, I got it today
