Mexico City fact: The city was built on a big lake, and for that reason it’s falling some centimeters every year. And we are excluding the fact that is an earthquake zone.
It’s because they emptied the lake in the XIX, as there is no water holding the city, it is going down. That is one of the reasons Obrador stopped the construction of the new airport.
Peruvian facts: 1) We have over 90 different micro-climates 2) The Amazon river starts in the Peruvian Andes 3) We have the second largest amount of shamans in the world (after India) 4) The Cotahuasi Canyon is the deepest canyon in the world 5) The Uros people built their village on floating islands, made out of totora grass, in Lake Titicaca 6) Peru is the 6th largest producer of gold 7) The tree on our coat of arms is the quina tree and is used to cure Malaria 8) Caral was the first city formed in the Americas (3,000 BC) and was a contemporary of Ancient Egypt, India, China and Mesopotamia 9) We make cheese ice-cream. This is not the weirdest thing we can and will make with food. 10) We have found over 15 pre-incan cultures distributed throughout the country from north to south. It's not weird to send a team of archaeologists to survey a construction site just for them to find something.

Note that the body had been embalmed after her death, which meant it actually was more than just rot when this happened.

I loved your wholesome fact on Panama. Gracias. More wholesome facts about Panama: we have the only branch of the Smithsonian Institute outside of the United States, which was founded during the construction of the Panama Canal, and we have loads of scientists coming in from all over the world all the time to study our, as you mentioned, hot bed of biodiversity, both on land and off the coast. We have a forest of "square trees" (they're called that because the tree trunks aren't round, but they're not really perfect squares, just very straight and angular). They're located in El Valle de Antón, also home to an endangered species of tiny yellow frogs called "golden frogs" (ranas doradas). Our coffee is amazing, it's grown on the side of our most famous (inactive) volcano, and one of the varieties, the award-winning Geisha, is per ounce the most expensive (valuable) coffee in the world.

Like Joanna said the "Panama hat" o sombrero de paja toquilla is original to Ecuador but It's called "Panama hat" because a dumb US president bought one in Panama and called it Panama hat... I feel like it was teddy roosevelt but don't quote me...
Was actually because Eloy Alfaro sold the hats in Panama to the French building the Panama Canal (well, tried to...) and then to gringos that actually did build it. When all these people went back to their places of origin people who did liked those hats asked where they were from... and the rest is history...
That’s true but he actually bought it in Ecuador and when he arrived in Panama he was seen wearing it when he got off the plane
