    Thank you for giving me hope! I've been so worried about being able to afford life when I'm older. I live frugally, so I know I could come in at your low end costs. I'm just worried that too many Americans will move there before I can retire and cause prices to jump high. I'm willing to consider a smaller city/town but would prefer Panama City.

    It's more than possible to live a great life in Panama as long as you don't bring your North American wants/needs.

    I’m 3 years from retiring at 62. Expecting about $4k a month in income plus my savings. This was great for me to start making moves. Thanks!

    I heard that Panama was going to $1000 a month net as opposed to gross monthly when deciding if one can afford to live in Panama. Yes, the Pensionado visa is a great opportunity.

      @@burtonknows9201 hmmm I am not sure about that one but it wouldn’t surprise me. The immigration requirements can change with each administration and even during their terms.

    Ten years from retirement in Panama with investments and Social Security. I was born in Panama so I don’t think I qualify for the pensionado visa.

    Yeah i have noticed the rents getting higher and higher in the city. If you don't want a car the city is where you want to be but the popular expat areas in the city are getting pricey!

      @@cperry7804 it is absolutely TRUE and you should always try. 👊🏽 You are renting from the owner and not a management company for the building.

      Money talks/the more that you're willing to pay upfront, the better rental rate you'll be able to get. Everything in Panama is negotiable.
