Nice work Deez! You know what you could do to make it even better. Drill and tap another hole from the outside all the way though the socket. Then add a set screw so you can fix your new tri handle to the vise.

Thanks, Great suggestion to lock the handle to the vise so it doesn't fall off. I may add that modification to the handle as well.

I was hoping you were going to mill the hex into the handle. That looks much more convenient than the swivel handle that comes with the vise. I was planning on making a crank type speed handle with two hexes in it, one for speed and one for leverage, but now I am considering one like yours.

I had thought about milling the hex into the base but wanted to go with the bore instead. I did buy a deep well socket but havent swapped it yet. Still deciding what to do on that. I would recommend if you make one to get a deep socket and get a little more depth on the hex bar on the vise. Otherwise I like this design. The 1/2 inch handles allow me to crank down on the workpiece with plenty of torque. Also humbled you like the design and find value in it. Cheers and thanks.

could have use your quill be better than bring the head up and down faster to.

My thought process is that if I get the headstock as close to the workpiece as I can then use the quill for smaller movements that I would have better stability by minimizing how much quill travel I use. You are right it would be a lot faster to just use the quill vs moving the headstock up and down. I may re-evaluate when I use the quill or not and take advantage of it more often.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't use fish eye lens but I will certainly be mindful of that.
