That sandblast hack is like a free ticket straight to Silicosis! First of all: sandblasting is pretty much NEVER done with actual sand. The most basic medium is glass bead, and you can buy it for a couple of dollars per pound.
Secondly, you ALWAYS want to wear a decent respirator (preferrably a half-face mask with filters or better) when sandblasting, because that dust is guaranteed to cause problems with your lungs!

Not as big a problem as you think. I've been in concrete for 13 years, grinding off an on. Sure, it's not great and irritates your lungs. But for people doing it once a month or once a year, it's perfectly fine.
And they make masks specifically for grinding, full face shields. Or a fully enclosed oxygen mask.

I have a hack with a blinky light, just good for a having a light so people can see you for commuting or something like that.
Basically it involves taking your stem faceplate and bars off then threading the elasticated loop of the blinky over the stem and putting the bars and stem back together, then you can do up the loop on the blinky as you would. The blinky sits nicely on top of the stem or you can even put it on the underside but the button is harder to access.
The hack works best on bikes with more tubular stems. Another linked hack is to swap the red rubber casing on a rear light for a black one off a front light for a more stealth look. Again a blinky is sufficient for a commuter rear light and can simply just stay on the bike for when you next need it.
Both of these hacks are effectively free save for the lights which most people have kicking around anyway.
    Love your work,
    George

Nice video Seth. You are the person who got me into mountain biking. I've been watching for a year and a half now. A hack that I sometimes use is that you can use a lighter for decontaminating your rotors and when you are climbing with glasses you can put them into the vents on your helmet. Also by placing an apple air tag or other item of that kind in the bottom of your fork and taping it there you can plug the hole so no muck gets in while being able to track your bike if stolen.

A hack to remember position of brake/shift levers is to mark it with a retractable pencil. Once the levers are set perfectly, use a reference point like the gap of a hinge or the window of the clamp. Then make a mark with the pencil. So when you have to take apart your cockpit, resembling the positions are a breeze by lining up the lever to your tracing. Works also for your bar to stem.

Seth! I'm a couch biker for now due to injury but your videos are so inspiring to get back into it when I finally can afford a bike again and can physically do so despite disability.
Don't eat me up for this but I own three outdoorsy dogs who love to get into anything they can. Because of this they get worms and parasites despite being treated. The water in the ground thing seems safe, as they do it all the time, but there are a lot of things in the ground you don't want your pups getting. And they spread fast too.
My input, as a dog owner and future mountain biker is if you are going to take your dog with you, it's important to have the proper gear for them as well. It's not usually a lot of stuff anyways.
Thanks for the great content though

So the ultimate way to get a blood stain out of clothing, from my hematology lecture in medical school, is to dissolve 1 teaspoon of salt into 2 cups of water (about a plastic water bottle). This solution is about the same salt concentration (osmolarity) as your blood like you would see with normal saline given IV for fluid administration. Soak the clothing in your homemade normal saline solution and the solution will be able to lift out the blood without causing the cells to burst and stain like they would when trying to use regular water.

Seth, You should use *distilled white vinegar* instead of bleach for the mildew on your wooden features - experts recommend this because _it actually works better_ particularly for deterring regrowth (was surprised to learn this myself, but look it up), not to mention covering your bases for any environmental considerations. I’m sure the small amount of bleach you are misting on your features is pretty negligible (and frankly acceptable, in my mind), but you should switch over if only for sake of effectiveness!
Also, your joke was funny, but I’d question the general assumption that cutting down a tree necessarily is a greater environmental impact than allowing chemicals to leach into the ground - regrowing a tree is often easier and sometimes quicker than reversing pollution that has accumulated in the environment.

If you haven't tried a sharpie professional to do touch up work definitely give it a shot. They stay much more opaque than the regular sharpie and last much longer

The girls watching the videos already knew the hydrogen peroxide hack 😂 If you don’t have hydrogen peroxide, a baking soda+water mixture can work just as well.

On our wooden features in the UK people put chicken wire over the top of it. This helps keep the feature grippy on wet and muddy conditions. Could be a good alternative to the bleach

I did the O-ring hack a while ago and if you don't want to disassemble all that stuff you can cut the O-ring and use a drop of super glue to glue it back up. Just make sure not to get any on the stanchions. I used some masking tape to protect them and since it requires so little super glue I first put a few drops of it on a clean surface and used a push pin to apply it.

Here is an intresting hack I discoverd the other day:
I recently found that Dates is kind of the ultimant trail snack.
Right aftet you eat one it gives you a huge burst of energy that wants to make you ride. Plus there are healther, cheaper and bettet for the envoirment then other snacks.
And you can also put them stright in you pocket and they wont go bad.

Possible Hack: If you're concerned about someone just grabbing your bike and sprinting away on it as it's sitting by your side (drinking from a fountain/washing your face or hands/etc..) hook your backpack or helmet to a wheel as a very rudimentary lock!

2:50 when using any spray paint, it’s a good idea to wear a mask. Even an N95 is better than wearing nothing. Esp with aerosolized vinyl, that stuff is carcinogenic.

Only hot water? U should pour ice cold water right after it.. as to create thermal shock.. u might need to repeat the process a few times! Good luck.
