CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Celeste (Sally Field) breaks down in front of the entire cast and crew of the show, and reveals the full story behind her love affair with Jeffrey (Kevin Kline).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In the comedic farce Soapdish, the behind-the-scenes lives of several soap opera actors are just as melodramatic as those of their television counterparts. Sally Field stars as Celeste Talbert, the star of a declining TV show. To make matters worse, Talbert's career is thrown into turmoil when her rival, Montana Moorehead (Cathy Moriarty), tries to persuade producer David Barnes (Robert Downey Jr.) to write Talbert off the show. Smitten by Moorehead, Barnes comes up with a scheme to get Talbert off the show by hiring her niece Lori (Elisabeth Shue) and then Jeffrey (Kevin Kline), an old flame and cast member who was written out of the show 20 years prior. Soon, mayhem rules on the set as the cast and crew tangle, culminating in a special episode, broadcast live.

I cannot get enough of this scene. Seeing Sally Field's character break down like that was the highlight of the film. Proving that the real soap opera madness isn't in front of the camera, it's behind it.
It really was that and the scene from she did when her and Rod Randall got into an argument
Why can’t I write shit like this I love you Whoopi
"this is fucking GREAT..." i love how he kinda looks into the camera and says that.
He's looking around as if he can't believe how good it is and want to see if anyone else notices it. 🤣
Sally Field should have won for best comedy as an actress and she played Forrest Gump's mom. She should have gotten an Oscar for this movie! She won for Places In The Heart! Awesome cast!
''And why can't I write shit like this...'' LOL
This scene from Soapdish pushed a simple soap opera to a phenomenon, I love Soapdish and it is the best.
"Summer, 1970....... Shakespeare In The Park. A bottle of Char-do-nnayyyy. All's well that ends well....................."
This movie is so underrated.
Yeah! It's a shame the screenwriters had to ruin it with the twist of a transgender villain.
Now why can't I write shit like this?
Sally Field is course an amazing dramatic actress, but damn the woman doesn't get enough credit for her comedy chops. Every scene she's in I can't stop laughing. Just brilliant!
This film belongs in the company of "Tootsie", "Some Like It Hot", and "Duck Soup", as one of the greatest American comedies of all time. Wall-to-wall talent in every department, and they all gell perfectly (not by any means always the case with all-star lineups). I love so many moments in it -- Kevin Kline struggling with the teleprompter, Whoopi Goldberg's German (!!) accent, the producer's bemused utterance when Montana enters the last scene, "There's a nurse in the restaurant." A splendid piece of work.
Kevin Cline's reaction! This was a classic movie
Clip fades out at one of the best parts. Where Robert Downey Junior says, "This is f**king great."
At that moment in the world, child Chris Evans was sitting around thinking, "Language!"
Sally Field is an amazing actress. I really don't think she gets as much credit as she deserves.
Her Kennedy Center Honor was good enough. I’ve also seen her in Legally Blonde 2, Mrs Doubtfire, Forrest Gump, Amazing Spider Man 1/2, Norma Rae and Places in the Heart
I love this Sally Field was so funny and Robert Downey Jr's reaction Oh this is just fucking great! LOL HAHAHAH
"we are mommy and daddy"....greatest soap opera ever ..😆
"We're still rolling?"
"Yeah."
"Fabulous!"
"You promised me you would get rid of Celeste, we were both naked and you promised!!!" LM@O!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Then after that, Montana goes too far in getting attention. Which incurs someone's wrath in the process, leading to the revelation at the end.
Even though Sally Field has Two Oscars for Norma Jean, and that movie where she plays the Blind Farmer, Celeste is the Best Character she ever played.
John Malkovich played the blind farmer in Places in the Heart.
She’s just having a great time
"I've ruined three lives! THREE LIVES! ME, AMERICA'S SWEETHEART!!!!!!"
How Sally Field didn't sweep the awards this year (or at least get nominated) for this scene alone is beyond me.
I don't know if it's Oscar-worthy, but it's most definitely entertaining. _"All's Well That Ends Well!"_
It’s crazy how unknown this movie is.
@@E.JayViera I first saw this on Netflix
The point is that these performances are suppose to mock oscar-worthy performances... Not that they are themselves oscar-worthy.
Its a shame that most Oscar winning performances aren't from comedies. Of course, Kevin Kline in A Fish Called Wanda is one of the exceptions.
OMG what a great movie! Didn't receive the accolades it should have!
It's very obvious to me that she was parodying Susan Lucci's portrayal of Erica Kane from All My Children because they look alike, and the 1970 backstory corresponds with the start of her character on AMC. They're both queens of the overdramatic. Sally Field was just gold here. I crack up every time I watch this scene.
Except for Celeste, winning awards was no big deal. Susan Lucci, it was a big deal winning the Daytime Emmy after so many tries.
I'll bet Susan saw the movie and loved it 😂😂😂😂😂
Sally is THE BEST!
After crying into her dress.....Now your all back! Lol 😂 classic.
Absolute perfection! The entire cast is freaking fantastic, literally a masterclass in acting and well over acting :)
Sally Field absolutely killed it but the rest of the cast played their individual parts to perfection.
Whoopi’s glasses. 😂
The whole scene had me like WHOA DAMN she good.
love this scene brings so much memories back in the 90s in Tokyo!
Sally Field having the time of her life burning down the barn, i just love it 😂
One of my favorite twists in a movie. There are big hints there is something going on with Celeste beyond just having to deal with Jeffrey again, but you assume her real issue with Jeffery being around Lori is she can't stand the guy. But once the big reveal comes it totally makes sense.
this movie was amazing and hilarious!! the ensemble cast was great especially Sally Field, seeing her break down and sob is sooo funny
I love this scene so much but I wish they had started it a little earlier because I love when Sally frantically steals the cameraman's script to see what happens in the scene and he keeps trying to get it back and she ends up biting his hand. Sally is absolutely brilliant in this movie!
The entire cast in this film was awesome
I love this, 90’s movies are the best 👍
I loove u whoopie.2020.
this film is so funny with a great cast
The box office didn't think so LOL.
On my list to watch
And just like that, the plot thickens. I was thinking about Mrs Doubtfire. So I remembered how good Sally Field is acting like a nervous breakdown. Comedy is Tragedy
I just hope that they let Miss Sally keep that gorgeous red dress she wore in the beginning of the film. As far as I'm concerned NO 1 could've worn that better Miss Sally. She is my all time favorite brunette. Everything from Gidget to Aunt May, & whatever else I may have missed. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Miss Sally.
I love this movie
I love this movie 😂
An Acting Goddess
Sally Field Crying 0:47 1:09 1:50
wow it looks like every famous actor is in this movie lol
Wow! This is just like Sally Field's nutty outburst at the cemetery in "Steel Magnolias." Maybe even more "authentic."
Well, revealing a long-held secret and pouring out emotions at a child's funeral, they're two different things.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
✨😄✨
Sally Field has the worst crying
it's supposed to be.
It is a parody of soap opera so the worse the better.
It’s supposed to be over the top.
You don't get the movie or the character. It's a parody of soaps.
