Very sad to read that John Perrone, the talented man who put this channel together died from Covid on April 5, 2020. . A great loss, thank you so much for your work over the past 8 years. Much respect. xxxxx
I am sad and sorry to know that John Perrone died. This is a tremendous loss and it is affecting me badly much. April 20, 2021 was my birthday and I became 68 years-old. I still enjoy Motown music since I was about 11 years-old.
Oh my goodness this when music was decent and you could actually dance to it and I still play all of the oldies when I do my house chores and even my 18year old cat likes music ,,oldies still rule and don't you forget it ,,,1950,s baby ,,keep it coming love
John until everyone is together again! God bless your soul! I speak for everyone. We.miss you! And God bless who keeps this site running!! I lost an aunt. My last to covid.
They shouldn't have been named the SUPREMES BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T.....the lead singer is trying to sound like Diana.....the REAL SUPREMES WERE DIANA, FLO AND MARY!!!!
A very effective and powerful song that in this troubled world today, still focuses on unity which is the key to peace between all peoples on the Earth. Peace to all, have a great day !!!
In a few days time, it will be 10 years since my favourite person left this earth - my eldest sister Kerri. She's 60 now. This not only was this her most favourite song - it was one of the last songs she ever heard. The memories of her singing, loving this song - you've brought a tear - with incredible memories.Thank - you.
Up the Ladder to the Roof and this song proved that The Supremes without La Ross could have been HUGE had Motown given proper support. They garnered hits despite what was going on at Motown, including Nathan Jones, Everybody's Got the Right to Love, and Floy Joy. Again thank you for these remixes. It keeps their legacy alive.
Actually, it Proves that The Supremes Without Diana WERE ABSOLUTELY HUGE AND POWERFUL...Until Some jealousy AT MOTOWN manipulated a Withdrawal of Support strategically to make it LOOK as if they were not successful and became unimportant, which was the COMPLETE Opposite! There was NO lack of success on Any point until the "hands" got into the "closet", and pulled their plug, (behind the Closed Door...) and then turned off Their Neon supply, and forged a SUDDEN cut off from their producer who was the wind in their bag as HDH was for the original! THIS WAS HISTORY in the Continuance, or even REMAKING that SHOULD'VE been, and stifled, that all involved WILL Give Account for... "in the day"!
The prettiest Melody of words and sound I could never get out of my head...for all eternity, Stone Love, God Creeps In. This song makes everything good possible. Isn't that what the world for you and I and our off spring need. Look how far this world of life has come through era's. It's a blessing and God, I say a word of blessing with prayer for Ukraine. This country Russia did the same to Estonia. When are they gonna open their eyes to their hearts and take a look at what they've done and do to others. Putin laughed at USA when the British or the USA backed out in the beginning of the Ukraine take-over. Is Russia that afraid to be peaceful and realize it's not about controlling Countries. How about taking a shot at controlling their own life. Do they not remember the truce USA gave to Russia back then with Russia's threat's with making the better weapon. The USA said, " if you use the atomic bomb on us, you destroy us...all of us Russia too!!!!!. Then a beautiful thing happened, half at least. They made peace. However, they still see stone war as their stone love. WOW
Michigan Super Girl Group...what beautiful talented ladies they were........I grew up in a small town on I-94 between Detroit and Chicago...the motown stars would often stop at gas stations to gas up and get a bite to eat.....60s 70s was a great time to grow up....the best music ever.
+13345 9997 When I was in high school one of the last ones I seen was Isaac Hays at the Standard gas station.....man he looked like Super Fly to....fur coat and wide brim hat and stacks....driving what I think was a Diamonte custom car....soooo coool!
Nordland796 - I grew up in the South Bend, IN, area. Literally grew up on Motown and R&B... I can even remember this brand new group being played a lot on the radio, “The Jackson Five” with this lead singer having the highest little, powerful voice!
I just turned 77 and seeing this going crazy rocking, tapping and bobbing in my car waiting for my wife to shop. Amen on the 3 keeping true sound alive for us. And Funk Brothers and othersvlikebnb them, I cant say enough but so good front to back, top to bottom, left to tight and just a legacy for us all.
This one song I can listen to all day. The lyrics, the instruments are phenomenal. Everytime I play this @ home, I be bopping in my seat. They sure don't Make music like this anymore 💃🏾🕺🏾🎹🎷🎺🎤
I was a visitor at Studio B the night Jean Terrell recorded her lead vocal on Stoned Love. That girl can sing. And, move. She has that hip sway that only Black girls can do. I was transformed.
MAN OH MAN!!! extended version? That would be an understatement. I don't care what it is. All I know it was FANTASTICO!! I danced all the way through. I hope I lost a few ponds doing so. LOL!
Love Mary Wilson's 70s Supremes, she & they changed with the times musically, styles & even member's, voices suitable for the different eras, even sometimes before the times. This is Classic, thank you, nice job.
I so much enjoy your versions of these motown classics!! I am from motown,my aunt was in same hospital room with Mary Wilson and Flo and Diana would come in and sing away.Greaat times!
True. And the choreography here is quite imaginative and impressive as well. Can you imagine moves that would’ve put Diana in the background, even momentarily? Neither can I . . .
Geoffrey DRIVER You got THAT right!! Moso, I now bestow upon you the title "Maestro"! I have called only TWO other men this: the late, great, and incomparable Barry White being one. Now that I think about it, do you think you could do some of his? I'm thinking Satin Soul, or The First, The Last, My Everything? Please?
this is the never ending Motown sound. not really funk. but no doubt this man is amazing I have gone thru his collection and started an entirely new folder. You are the King of remix.⬆️⬆️👑
This special song raises the hairs on my back, gives me goosebumps, I will always cherish this song. It reminds me of my favorite Aunt Janet Baker. RIP Auntie! I miss you with tears.
Oh my, these girls put a huge smile on my face and took me back to one of the best years of music and the singing was out of this galaxy, how times have changed. Thank you so much!
They were GREAT 1 They have always been one of my FAV singing groups ever ! :) And this is my FAV song by them ! :) I think a lot of people do not realize that this is a Christian song.
+13345 9997 Actually the song was ban by some radio stations, thinking that the song was referring to getting high on drugs, I definitely think that if it hadn't been ban by some radio stations the song would have definitely hit #1 on the Billboard pop chart. But it had enough strength to hit #1 on the R N B charts
Wrong! Both black & white owned radio stations (at first) would NOT play the song...I was on radio at the time! Don't try to change history w/ ur LIES! now STFU!
As soon as I heard Jean's voice, I thought, "damn". How beautiful yet so violently proving! She convinced you that the words were gonna jump out at you and grab you and say "listen!" I Loved "Stoned Love", and ironically it never made it to #1, but held the #7 spot for an infinity. I remember that. It had staying power, and I'm only sorry The Supremes didn't continue, but as they say, all good things, must end. Thank goodness for people like you posting on UA-cam! Thanks so much! And I did feed my cat before coming back! :D
Michael Santos 4yrs ago you were captivated enthralled by this fabulous girl group. Just as I and millions of people around the globe. In late sixties I had two big vinyl albums n played em loud as .Magic memories Michael.yeh man and the four tops sent me also so fabulous.Im old white guy but believe these beautifully afro american artists were unsurpassed as top musicians. They really pulled the world into their groove man.Cheers Buddy.
Another one of the best Switcheroos in R and B Music. We had some Great times watching Diana do her thing and the Supremes take on a whole new sexy with Jean. Boy did we dance a lot on this one.
My favourite song from the original 70's Supremes. Frank Wilson and Jean Terrell brought new life to the group! And, this is the star gem of their collaboration! Thanks, Mosogotam! You once again did a great job of breathing new life into a great classic from Motowns premier singing group....THE SUPREMES! And, I always thought (next to the Touch lp) that the "New Ways, But Love Stays" lp were the best work the Supremes ever did!
Englewood, NJ: I was just at ShopRite, a very large grocery chain. They play these songs on the loud speaker constantly. The cashiers are about 18 years old. Imagine if when we were 18 and at work, our workplace played songs that were 55 years old. I am 67, when I was 18 was there even recorded music from 55 years earlier? When I was in high school 1970-74, any 1950s song sounded old to me. Elvis might as well have been 90 as far as I was concerned with the exception of any hits he went on to make in my day. I thought music began with the instrumental "Theme from a Summer place," followed by the Four Seasons, and then the Beatles and Motown and you know the rest...
This is such a fabulous song and this fantastic remix magnificently magnifies it’s fantastical fabulousness! Times such as we’re in, we need these masterpieces & messages from yesteryear! I am so stoned in love with this that the geothrillogical imperative beckons - like kimberlite pipes it brings so much that is precious to the fore - a glorious gem for sure!
THIS WAS A PERFECT DANCE classic to usher in the disco dance era of the 1970s - thank you for the L.P. / extended version - 1970 hooray!! Forrest Gump brought me here - this must be pared with the 0riginal 7" mono version!! DAVEDJ
Another outstanding mix, thank you! Again we really can appreciate the talent of all three Supremes. Jean's opening is just magnificent. And the song itself is so important for the world right now. Thank you for breathing new life into it.
I always loved this song. growing up in the 60's and 70's The Supremes and Motown was my vibe from 7yrs old and at 61 this white girl still digs that vibe when she's not listening to reggae.🤣
Thank you for letting us see this . Man, does it bring back memories. I was around during this song on the popular radio, and I bought this album. But the public just didn't accept the later Supremes, I guess. Shame . They were damn good.
My goodness, you are a musical genius. You went above and beyond with" Stoned Love!!" I have complimented you before, but this is incredible. It's like you are the fourth Supreme. You made the song yours and raised it to the highest level. I feel blessed to have this opportunity to thank you.
Years ago I waited outside the studio where the Ed Sullivan Show was being taped. Out came the Supremes. I engaged Jean in conversationI never expecting more than a smile and a "Thank You" for complimenting them on their talent. Jean stopped and we had a lovely 10 minute conversation.
