I have a 7ft door but the panels are about 14inches and every reinforcement bracket kit is for 18 to 24 inches...any suggestions? can you put the little bracket right into the garage door? I'd rather have it reinforced just to be safe but I'm stuck at this part and don't know what to do - everything else is setup and done except connecting the arm to the door... lol Thanks if you can help - nice video btw!
Chamberlain must have just updated this unit I just prepped this unit for a customer with the 8 ft extension it had me use a full chain no cable 7ft chain and the extension kit had a shorter piece of chain that I attached to the chain that was with the unit, so the only thing I had to toss was the 7ft rail piece for the pulley
Find the extension sold in the store or on line. Check if old opener and new one use the same extension, if they do, you can buy your new opener and use the extension from your old opener.
I recently purchased a 1/2 hp Chamberlain, belt drive for my condo, is there any reason you bought a chain drive? The price was the same as yours. Thanks.
Is there any reason that you didn’t buy a belt drive opener? I recently bought a belt drive opener and love how quiet it is, same hp, and price as yours. Thanks.
Great tutorial! Saved me $700 on hiring someone!
I looked on Chamberlain on the web for this extension and I couldn't find it lucky I found this video. Home Depot had the extension. Thanks
Your video should come with every purchase of a Chamberlain door opener. Thank you.

Would you still need that extension if I already have an opener? I just need to replace my motor
Same question I have

The belt drives are typically more expensive. If you got for the same price that’s great.
hey wait, where did that rail system?
What about a 9 ft door
Just add another extension? Or will the motor not have enough rotations ?
A standard opener won’t work for a 9’. Not just the extension but the chain won’t be long enough either. I’d have to call to a vendor for that one.
Standard opener works fine for a 9'. They make 10' extensions for that. They are harder to find though because less common.

The belt drive is quiet but the chain drive is more durable.
8 foot rail is perfect 👍
Great video, Thank you
For anyone wondering don’t buy genie garage door openers they are garbage. Stick with Chamberlain and LiftMaster.
👍👍👍
