I thought the same the first couple of times I heard this tune in terms of the rhyme pay-off but I thought about it’s context with the “you’ll find yourself in the mind of the illest of our time”, we’re basically in his head with all his random memories. The man is fucking brilliant. I'll call him the illest of our time and agree to both. Not GOAT status yet, of course. But I'm all in for this man's journey. And if he keeps doing anything close to the level he has been performing at for years now, he will be one of my favorite artist of all time. I'm 44 and didn't think this kind of shit was possible anymore. Well past the age of being a fan boy, but come on! Here we are!
I felt the same way about this one. He can rap though. And say something while doing it. Best example of this imo is "Power". Power will win you over. Certified vibe check guaranteed. Also the full 13 minute Jenny and Screech trilogy is a must. I think it's called "The tale of Jenny and Screech" (FULL). You definitely need to do all 3 at once for the full effect. So yeah either of those two directions you'll love. Can't go wrong.
Listen here my man, you're reaction videos are FIRE... F R E I X... FIRE My only criticism here that you've gone ahead and discounted a whole aspect of the art which is where Ren uses some of the most well known icons of historical pop culture and either run them as words, or as flows. The references to Mary Poppins and Robin Hood, firstly they came close together, keeping you in movieland, and those are two icons of UK and Irish movie history from his generations childhood. Those are like little golden drops of hitting an absurd pop culture reference, and being so absurd as to avoid modern, topical pop culture and hit really soft aspects of all of our childhoods. Some of the raps may seem like low hanging fruit, but that's because he's aiming at them. It's a super creative way of using pop-culture references in lyrics, but done without being a bro and just talking about lambos and crystal.
To be fair he's totally understandable to people that know him and his history... I've noticed while watching thousands of Ren reactions that their education/intelligence and nature is displayed...you easily work out if they're empaths, normals, Narcissistic or full on narcissists... There's no filler in this song...you probably shouldn't bother doing any more Ren...
@UncivilizedOgre I'm pretty sure "you probably shouldn't bother doing any more Ren" was unfair. People have different preferences and if this guy thinks it's filler, that's fine. There's lots of things I think are filler by other artists that he might think are amazing... its personal preference and in the words of Ren, we must not forget, that we are human beings.
@@JohnOwens0 I'm pretty sure making irrelevant comments about things that have nothing to do with the topic at hand perfectly displays the call out of this guy being a narcissist. I understand where you're coming from, but this video was nothing more than free content from someone else's genius. Bottom line.
Ok let’s be straight the top of the top have said ren is a 1 in a generation this guy knows nothing e thinks he does but his bias is he’s missed 90% bars he dosnt know ren is a 1 man band with totally 💯 on everything just not a ren reaction a personal talking shit about someone 32 n blue pills
For more rap from Ren check out Genesis, The Hunger and Losing It. For singing check out Chalk Outlines (Live with Chinchilla) and How To Be Me (Live with Chinchilla). Also check out The Big Push (Ren was in the band) doing I Shot The Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop
Can't wait until you find his Tale of Jenny and Screech. No filler, all content. Genesis, Life is Funny and Ocean featuring Eden Nash are all great tracks for his bars too.
if you want to hear him play with it watch "loosing it" when he goes beast mode rapping he goes full beast mode & in Genesis he puts the industry to shame tongue is a gun its a weapon what these rappers use that weapon for i dont know.
Ren was born in Wales but resides in Brighton England uk . Diazepam by ren ,Chalk outlines with Chincilla, Crutch with Bibi or Losing it or the Hunger ,really you cant go wrong.
For singing, I’d recommend Chalk Outlines, and How To Be Me. Both live versions with Chinchilla or the tale of Jenny and Screech. For rapping I’d check out Money Game part 1 and 2
Check out his rap rapping on his tracks "Losing it" and "The hunger"...you will lose your sh*t :D For his singing check out "Chalk Outlines (live)" with Chinchilla...beautifully tragic and to say it'll move you is an understatement
I love that you´re speaking your mind i watched a lot of reactions and nobody has said anything they didn´t like about this song in particular and tbh is not one of my favourites. I love his music and all but you are right about this one. "Diazepan" and "Chalk outlines" are couple of them where you can hear his singing voice also "Genesis" is still rap but a totally different vibe
If you want to see him truly sing like an angel watch "Chalk Outlines" by Ren & Chinchilla LIVE (he uses a hallways for natural reverb) it's about self deletion, depression, addiction and over prescription or "How to Be Me" by Ren & Chinchilla LIVE, it's about a friend of Ren who self deleted himself on the bridge where they sing.
I don't think he would like Hunger to be honest. I already know that he's just going to say "He's just rapping just to rap, but not really saying anything of substance" Pretty much every hip-hop heavy rapper that I've heard listen to that says the same thing.
Thank you for your time. If you want to see him truly be a Bard you have to see "The Tale of Jenny and Screech" it's basically a play in 3 acts (act 1 Jenny, act 2 Screech, act 3 Violet IN THAT ORDER) In it he plays the part of the Bard it starts in London 2019 (two zero one nine) in a place called Paddington. It's filmed in the streets 1 shot per act (probably took a few takes to get that perfect one shot) again thank you for your time. Have a great day.
Great honest reaction KSO! You could check out Money Game 1 and 2 of you want more mainstream rap that's topical. Part 2 was his first REAL massive hit. Otherwise, Genesis, Power, The Hunger (this one has NO filler!), and Losing It are decent rap songs by him.
Hiya man, the "low hanging fruit" as you very eloquently put it draws in people who wouldn't normally listen to this kind of music, i think it's all part of Rens talent and charm, Ren was born in Wales (Anglesey i believe) i may be wrong but now lives in Brighton South England, love the channel ❤🐦.
The entire last arc of the song (from "I don't feel so well") is about his brain damage from undiagnosed Lyme disease and certainly tells a story... He's got noodles for brains (Head in Hong Kong, wonton soup / Is what I have for brains, I know), is near death (Banished from the heavens but I'm knocking on the sky), is in an impossible place (Travel to the corner of my cornea and mind [i.e. there are no corners in a sphere]), and is desperately looking for answers that he can't seem to find. Quite sad ending actually, "Till then, I guess I'm still the illest of our time."
I agree, some of his bars do seem a bit generic, but then he drops a real gem.... He has multiple flow changes, but he hasn't got as much filler bars as you proclaim... I think that he is a musical genius by the way he can play his guitar. Rock, rap, opera, folk, jazz, etc.... He can play any genre of music and make it sound great..... In the stagnant pool of shite, that is the music business, it's refreshing to hear a real artist who can actually sing the songs that he writes, while he plays a real instrument at the same time.... I think that he is an amazing performer too.....
Ren's Welch. He's from Wales. He has a big sense of humor, too. Those "low hanging fruit" he spits tends to be just for the fun of it. I appreciate your truthfullness and honest reactions. ❤
I really couldn't listen past the 30 second mark because your sound is pretty rough. Just trying to be helpful. I understand not everyone has good equipment available to them. Good luck with your channel.
Alternative reaction to your 2nd time seeing Ren 😮 okay fair play but the rabbit hole deepens into a warren turn left get his buskin, turn right get it from his singing collaborations, straight on and you can have illest and future endeavors yet to be released. But go back and you get a plethora of rap, pop, heavy and oh Bardcore 👍
Looks like Ren a little bit difficult to you. You need something easier to understand. Double and triple meanings in one line can stir the rest of your brain. Neither you nor the rest is of any use.
Im telling you right now KSO you need to react to I shoot the sherif by Ren and the Band he is in "The Big Push" ! The spotlight is on Ren and his performing abilities with singing rapping and playing guitar, HEAR ME NOW YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED Please vote this up people but KSO not a lot of people know about this one or they might by now but you wilk make a 20 k reaction video with this one. Lol idk but you should enjoy the ride cause spoil alert He can sing like Marley sorta
Try his song Genesis, which is much more tropical, talking about his personal illnesses. Or, for singing, try Chalk Outlines. Or try Blind Eyed, with Sam Tompkins. (Hot tip from a nurse: avoid the blue pills these days; they're all laced with fentanyl.)
If you like when he's talking about something, check out Money Game 1 & 2. Personally prefer 1 (I feel 2 is a bit over-produced and I prefer it when his stuff is stripped back), but 2 features a stonking description of capitalism using She Sells Seashells by the Sea Shore.
You're talking about fillers while not understanding half of what he's saying. I respect someone criticizing but not before you understand what you are hearing or seeing.
don't sleep on rens rapping he's got some bangers..genesis..the hunger...money game1 and part2....losing it you need to see these wil change your opinion
True on the "low hanging fruit" comment, but he takes the obvious and makes it his own. Sort of like a chef. Sure anyone can cook and the ingredients are there, but what you do with it is the point. You should do "The Hunger" next and see what you think. Who am I kidding? The dude's whole catalogue is fire. Edit to say: we are reaching a point where everything is derivative of something at this point, so the Vinn diagram is getting crowded as far as sounds and styles go.
You got something else on your mind distracting you maybe? I say this because most of this song went right by you, and what you caught you only caught at a shallow level. I can understand not liking an artist's output, it's all subjective, but it seems to me you're confusing your not understanding/catching multilayered references with there being not much actual content. Ren packs a whole lot into his songs, and in my experience, exactly none of it is filler.
Chalk Outlines Ren x Chinchilla for singing and "real" lyrics and live ua-cam.com/video/35yALr_opeg/v-deo.html or some jam singing with the band he was in The Big Push doing street busking show on the streets of Brighton UK mash-up "I shot the sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop" ua-cam.com/video/uSeCuR51rek/v-deo.html can do so much, may not be for everyone
You say your opinion...well heres mine... You say Hi Ren was more rap and this more music?..low hanging fruit....wow, we are not on same page musically. I just checked out one of your raps...I couldnt even hear half the words (not clearly spoken), excessive n word/profanity, bitches and jewelry and how tough/great you are. Rens bringing back fun old school style rap back that everyone can relate to and enjoy, And adding new flows and techniques. Rap hasnt been fun/enjoyable in decades. I like seeing someone that wants to have fun and not boast their street cred.
Going through the comments, I agree there many shades of Ren, every song you'll pick will be different and will show you something new and unexpected. If you didn't like this one, the next one is an entirely new journey - I would suggest actually something different - Blind Eyed live version with Sam Tompkins, MC session is a favorite, but all are great! Genesis, Power for rap. Hunger and Loosing it are fire, but if you want to get the lyrics and references maybe it's better to know more about him and UK to get all the references.
I always think its funny when US people are astounded that people come from other places like the UK. Ren whether you dislike his tracks or not is talented to the max. I'm 60 and have seen a lot of talented artists. Ren is top tier in music, lyrics, usually it goes totally without saying. I cannot disagree more with your analysis. But you be you.
If you don't know Ren's personal story some of his lyrics can come across a little simplistic because he does reference his life experience. I have listened to a bunch of Ren and read about him and what he has gone through in his life. He is super dope, super talented and incredibly versatile. I think if you knew more about Ren you might feel a little different homie. But I'm always gonna rock with the KBD Family regardless. Shout out Kso, Milk, J-Mo and the whole KBD Family!! ✌️❤️!! SALUTE🫡

This theme is repeated with the line "elementary dear Watson you might find" cause Sherlock Holmes was always searching for the clues to piece the puzzle together, which is very relatable when trying to piece together parts of a very complex health picture, anyone with a very complex illness will relate to almost having to become your own detective.
And finally
"A pathologic entity -
if eveything is set in stone then this is how its meant to be"
Acceptance that this might just be the cards I've been dealt.
To search for answers and simultaneously accept that chronic illnest may be your fate is a bit of a paradox because it is the rejection of acceptance that spurs you forward in the persuit of answers, but it is the acceptance that you may always be sick that let's you lead a more peaceful life... so one must walk this contradictory line between both opposing states to have the motivation to find the answers whilst not being so outcome dependent. Still haven't mastered this, but think it's an interesting concept"
Can't go wrong.
and yet, there’s still much more !!! Like “Right Here, Right Now” (Fatboy Slim one shot retake) or “Life is Funny”.
@@Proud.American58 for sure. Those are two more of my favorites that I keep going back to.
Listen here my man, you're reaction videos are FIRE... F R E I X... FIRE
My only criticism here that you've gone ahead and discounted a whole aspect of the art which is where Ren uses some of the most well known icons of historical pop culture and either run them as words, or as flows.
Great point
To be fair he's totally understandable to people that know him and his history... I've noticed while watching thousands of Ren reactions that their education/intelligence and nature is displayed...you easily work out if they're empaths, normals, Narcissistic or full on narcissists...
There's no filler in this song...you probably shouldn't bother doing any more Ren...
bit unfair
@@JohnOwens0 no this is accurate.
@@Bleeglesplotch isn't that every single reaction video?
Losing it (Fisher rap retake) by him has some real bars and it's a great track to rap over.
Ren- genesis
Ren-money game part 1 and 2 are my favorite rap songs from him
Lol, "Filler"
I think most of it just went over your head.
You seemed far too distracted on other things.
For singing, I’d recommend Chalk Outlines, and How To Be Me. Both live versions with Chinchilla or the tale of Jenny and Screech. For rapping I’d check out Money Game part 1 and 2
Your video was on the low side. Lots of references to his back catalogue. He gives me chills as he draws you in before he closes his eyes.
This reaction was Dunning Kruger in action.
Ren - power
Watch ‘The Hunger’ and ‘Losing It’ next
And Ren- hunger do one of those and i promise you won’t be disappointed
I concur
I don't think he would like Hunger to be honest. I already know that he's just going to say "He's just rapping just to rap, but not really saying anything of substance"
Pretty much every hip-hop heavy rapper that I've heard listen to that says the same thing.
Check out the Tale of Jenny and Screech (full version) and Chalk Outlines if you want more of his singing/storytelling.
The world needs your reaction to Ren's Tale of Jenny and Screech KBD!
I don't think it does tbh.
not in this life or the nxt...
Sick boi, the hunger, losing it, Genesis, money game 1&2, the tale of Jenny/screech/violet… I wouldn’t be sleepin on Ren 😅
I must say you are the only reactor out of hundreds I have watched that didn't love this !
Thank you for supporting Ren!
He IS talking abput something from the start. Even the title is a big double....😂❤😊
@@TheTaffia thanks the info 🖒🐦.
If you wanna see him SIIIIIIIING, Chalk Outlines Live with CHINCHILLA, if you wanna see him rap-rap The Hunger ❤
Ain’t no one ever hit the alphabetti spaghetti line ever in hip hop. You were thinking about shorty from 20 years ago too much man ;)
Ren's Welch. He's from Wales. He has a big sense of humor, too. Those "low hanging fruit" he spits tends to be just for the fun of it.
I appreciate your truthfullness and honest reactions. ❤
Ren ,Hunger
UK, he’s Welsh.
Every time I watch this dude I think about the Dunning-Kruger effect.
the instrumental sounds like those wobbly door stopper spring things you find in your grandma’s old school apartment😭
Genesis
The spotlight is on Ren and his performing abilities with singing rapping and playing guitar, HEAR ME NOW YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED
Please vote this up people but KSO not a lot of people know about this one or they might by now but you wilk make a
20 k reaction video with this one. Lol idk but you should enjoy the ride cause spoil alert
He can sing like Marley sorta
Try his song Genesis, which is much more tropical, talking about his personal illnesses. Or, for singing, try Chalk Outlines. Or try Blind Eyed, with Sam Tompkins.
(Hot tip from a nurse: avoid the blue pills these days; they're all laced with fentanyl.)
You should react to Ren "life is funny". Shows his range. :)
Filler? Low hanging fruit? Are you mad!? Ren is so intelligent as are his bars. Doubles, triples even quadruples!
Bro took a Shrek and hit the Boogaloo 😂
u n your bro have such good vybes everytime never a downer
"What you want" beasty boys homage, 👌
If you like when he's talking about something, check out Money Game 1 & 2. Personally prefer 1 (I feel 2 is a bit over-produced and I prefer it when his stuff is stripped back), but 2 features a stonking description of capitalism using She Sells Seashells by the Sea Shore.
You're talking about fillers while not understanding half of what he's saying. I respect someone criticizing but not before you understand what you are hearing or seeing.
Ren-the hunger he goes ham
don't sleep on rens rapping he's got some bangers..genesis..the hunger...money game1 and part2....losing it you need to see these wil change your opinion
You HAVE TO check out Cristale x Teezandos Plugged In...the chemistry is turned up to 1000
Tale of Jenny and screech!!!
Now, I want to hear someone use flickety bickety dickety in a bar
True on the "low hanging fruit" comment, but he takes the obvious and makes it his own. Sort of like a chef. Sure anyone can cook and the ingredients are there, but what you do with it is the point. You should do "The Hunger" next and see what you think. Who am I kidding? The dude's whole catalogue is fire.
Edit to say: we are reaching a point where everything is derivative of something at this point, so the Vinn diagram is getting crowded as far as sounds and styles go.
To coin (an over used phrase) you are the epitome of 'low hanging fruit'.
Need to listen to Ren - the tale of Jenny & screech, full version
You got something else on your mind distracting you maybe? I say this because most of this song went right by you, and what you caught you only caught at a shallow level. I can understand not liking an artist's output, it's all subjective, but it seems to me you're confusing your not understanding/catching multilayered references with there being not much actual content. Ren packs a whole lot into his songs, and in my experience, exactly none of it is filler.
Losing It - Fisher Rap Retake
He’s talking about his physical and mental health issues. The misdiagnosis and lack of answers is making him literally the illest of our time.
Genesis, power, The hunger, money game part 2 there's just a few
Story telling ren u gotta do tale of jenny n screech full version! Singing ren u gotta do chalk outlines with chinchilla! Try those to start with!
Lol you she might be 30 n damn made me feel old AF good video as always bro 👍
I always think its funny when US people are astounded that people come from other places like the UK.
Ren whether you dislike his tracks or not is talented to the max. I'm 60 and have seen a lot of talented artists. Ren is top tier in music, lyrics, usually it goes totally without saying.
I cannot disagree more with your analysis. But you be you.
if you like hearing him do different flows then you gotta check out The Hunger for sure
✌️❤️!! SALUTE🫡
You really need to listen to Hunger, I think that's way more up your alley
"...Damn near sexual stormtroopers... "😹😹😹
Try Genesis! It is a brilliant track! Think you would love the flows!
Those shades are so nice bro.
Ren - The Hunger will not disappoint.
I think Money Game pt 2 would be your speed
Tale of Jenny & Screech full is 🔥🔥🔥
Check out. Hunger, What you want, & Lossing It, fisher rap retake.
Ren X Chinchilla - Chalk Outlines.
Try The Hunger next if you want Rhymes intertwined and double time.
Yaaaaasssss!!!
