"you can't just put death on the top of every list about death metal"
Loudwire: "that's where you're wrong kiddo"
Alex Ritter lol... true 😏
Alex Ritter they truly are the best tho
Indeed they are, even after all these years =)
Alex Ritter Top 10 brutal guttural slamming pornogrind bands. Number 1: Death.
Death es lo máximo hermano
Their basses have more strings than my guitar.
At least this is one list where Loudwire couldn't include Ghost.
My sources say otherwise.
Or Slipknot
Or Tool
Or Dolce & Gabbana
Its probably you watches specific ones
Having Nile and Dying Fetus so low is horrible
@Rust In Pickles One Shot, One Kill
Also Cryptopsy!!
Theyre more brutal death than tech death
at Loudwire headquarter:
-and don't forget to only use 240p footages for our UA-cam videos !!
Problem is that the source videos are often low quality. You're probably not going to find a 1080p video from the 90s when talking about death metal, be thankful we at least have potato footage.
and live too, which doesn't help
And short random clips
Because 240p is trve kvlt.
Cause alot are from 90s-early 00s dumbass...not all videos were recorded in 2019
RIP CHUCK \m/
Dan B Death is not technical death metal and they didn’t even create the genre of death metal. Possessed did.
@@mitchellcrawford631 Nonsense and death > Possessed.
Mitchell Crawford Nobody said they did, but Possessed and Death were sure as hell the firsts to make the genre, with death having the most diverse style, influencing not only death metal as it is today, but other genres too. Although possessed had a more “thrash” sound, it was definitely death metal, from the standards of the time.
Hé was the grad father of death
All the great music we would have if Chuck was still with us.

The man always got better and better
Sorry I am new to the scene , Chuck who ?
@@phoby4584 chuck schuldiner from death
@@phoby4584 Check out his later work on Control Denied as well. He’s The Godfather of Death Metal with his band Death, and is very prominent in progressive metal as well. One of the most skilled guitarists out there and is all around a nice musically inclined guy. One of few who focused so much on their work that he didn’t even smoke, drink, or do any drugs whatsoever. Sadly though he died in 2001 from brain cancer; leaving behind a legacy, and music to be enjoyed by millions for decades to come.
Death, Dying Fetus & Nile are my top 3 from this list. Incredible musicians.
You sir, are a man of brilliant taste 🤘
Nile at 8 is a sin.
Definitely at least 5. Cryptopsy are nowhere near as consistent any of the other bands on this list.
Nile's guitar work isn't that technical.
FantasticBeastsFTW I'm not sure if you've actually listened to Nile..
Retrovirus yeah ur braindead
I've listened to alot of Nile. Yes their guitar work is fast and occasionally complex but it's nothing compared to bands like Spawn of Possession and First Fragment. It also almost completely lacks odd time signatures. For example, songs like Eat of the Dead, Ithyphallic etc have pretty simple guitar work.
if u r gonna do Death in #1. Necrophagist definately deserves #2.
#1.5 to be precise
Right
@@enjay9915 necrophagist is better than death imo better guitar work solos etc i even like the vocalist better just my opinion though
@@2174863 yeah and death is not even a tech death band even in their later records on which it's more progressive than technical (especially compared to necrophagist)
Death doesnt belong on this list. They are not technical death metal. Necrophagist is number 1, far from competition. Saying death is a better tech death band than necrophagist is like saying watermelon is a better vegetable than carrots.
Necrophagist is far and away #1, its insulting to even put anyone else anywhere near them. Spawn of Possession definitely belongs in the top 5 also.
Top 10 - Part 2
1. Death
2. Beyond Creation
3. Archspire
4. Origin
5. Spawn of possession
6. Decapitated
7. Deeds of Flesh
8. Decrepit Birth
9. Psycroptic
10. Whatever Techdeath bands you hear without "core"
so you dont worry about them
i think arcshpire like core band cuz they sound little bit core and they vocals doing rap xd
Archspire fo sho! I can understand what mille be sayin with how the vocalist does that machine gun, death-metal-Twista, but the result is actually really original so I wouldn’t label thems “core.” Decrepit Burff, no doubt, Beyond Creation is too “wanky” for me with their 4 solos a song thing but an undeniably talented group of musicians .
Bach!?! That´s not even funny?
Loudwire should fire the people who made that list and have you instead
Lmfao you mad because tech deathcore bands are making noise ?😂😂 they add all kinds of different elements to the deathcore sound. Be mad
“Athiest”
Lol...
Robert Chaston Problem?
Yo, he meant that they spelled it wrong in the vid.

Same for me
@Lord Of Onions When it comes to death, it's all awesome
Yes truth
@Why do I Have to have a name i'm too Dude😂
Luka Anchabadze They’re prog death.
Origin, such an underrated band. I'm sad they didn't make the list.
I think it's more about traditional Techdeath, it's part of the reason like Spawn of Possession, Archspire, or Inferi didn't make it.
Origin is arguably a pillar of original death metal, have been around since the beginning, im surprised as well they are not on the list.
They always seem to get neglected on tech death lists, so strange cause it melts your face. If necrophagist makes it (which they deserve to) then origin should for sure
Loudwire always makes the most basic and obvious choices. Half of these bands are barely relevant anymore.
@@cadaverabuse36121997 isn't the beginning of Death metal lol, they're tech death
Atheist, Cynic, Death, Obscura and The Faceless are my top five. I am surprised The Faceless didn't make a top 10 list...
I always saw em as the best tech death band out there smh.
This List has only 3 tech bands
Hoooo ooh
Nile is only 8, really?
Nile have 0 feel and 0 harmony wtf u want
+Xaviguitar 18 This is fucking true, this is why Death is number one.
Nile have plenty of feel and harmony. Go and listen to Ithyphallic!
fuck harmony, they have some of the most badass riffs and the best death metal drummer ever(not including gene hoglan)
DVN that album is literally perfection
Beyond creation?
Tobias TK isnt that prog death metal?
Obscura is prog too, however it got here
Fucking Awesomr Band!!!
Omnipresent PERCEPTION!!!
Haven't really done anything noteworthy other than Omnipresent Perception. They are too new to really compete for this list.
They chosen the worst video footage possible of necrophagist, dude's a absolutely madman on the guitar
Mohammed is a beast
And Christian 🤘

Perhaps this is the correct title of the video: "10 Popular Technical Death Metal Bands"
There are dozens of great technical death metal bands.
Is Revocation considered a technical death metal band?
Mark De Mars yeah
@@markdemars7044 revocation has a few tech death songs but also tech thrash and pure thrash

@@MetallicA4658 of course...
Decapitated?
Technical Death Metal (early)Groove/Death metal (later)
Bonus BGC still..... 5 thecnical death albums, 2 groove/death albums only so far
rapists don't make it to the lists
Innocent until proven otherwise. 2 witnesses claimed that they saw the 2 girls leaving their van peacefully. Stop claiming bullshit until all the facts are sorted out.
+Louis corbeil Carrière, hey, you want to shut the fuck up, they are innocent and I believed it all the time, there are reports of the girls making false accusations even before and also decapitated have already gone through so much shit they dont deserve any more, 2007 vitek dies and covan is severly injured but they still return, well vogg returns, and now after few years they're accused of this? Now the case is over and everything but that doesnt make it up for them for being called rapists etc. I hope one day you will experience what they have, then lets have others accuse you aswell. Fucking Moron!
What you wanna name your band ?
Me: what about dying fetus ?
Everyone: ok
Death was the biggest band in the whole death metal spectrum, they made death metal, technical death, prog, melodic death metal, they did everything
No morbid angel and deicide were
The Faceless..................................................
David Dwayne this was just a list of old people.
Still :*( *sniff sniff*
colby rasmussen you mean the guys that originated the genre lol. you dont know a damn thing
The Faceless are more technical deathcore than technical death metal - same goes for Rings Of Saturn. They're no less awesome, though
x1StapleGun youre just making up genres now
Hang on, where is decapitated?! They deserve to be on this list, nihlity is one of the greatest and most influential (technical) death metal albums ever written!
Right!
I like how every one of these sounds like it was recorded well but the Nile video clip sounds like it was recorded on a potato
They should've put Archspire on that list.
I was thinking that
Idk how popular they were at the time of this list, they would definitely be on here now
yup
Give me progressive death metal and melodic death metal any day.
Why you want a ProgDeath list? We all know the #1 will be Opeth.
Sebastián Vladimir VO I'd say Gojira but that's just me
Linkoping I kind of thought Gojira would make it on this list. Same with Meshuggah.
The Riff Notebook your joking
Mclovin Love No, why? I mean, I guess it's debatable whether or not they're tech death or prog death, but at the end of the day, not a huge difference.
Death is tech death? mmmm.. no son.
FlavioAnd HisJet you better listen to Human or The Sound of Perseverance again
charlie0x0 I know there are some very technical songs, but the band isnt technically tech death. Its like saying that Death is prog. There are some songs there that can be considered prog but the band overall is not prog.
Human, Individual Thought Patterns, Symbolic and Sound of Perseverance all contain complex melodies, altering mood from chaotic to soft, jazzy drum patterns and virtuosism. These guys were along with others the first to give a technical edge to death metal for fucks sake!
Javier Ganzarain mmm no. What you said applies better to prog
FlavioAnd HisJet the drumming in both of those albums is not just prog. Death does not sound like the rest of the bands in this list because they were the first ones to play that kind of metal. It later evolved, yes, but saying Death is not tech death is like saying Celtic Frost or Bathory are not black metal because they don't sound like Mayhem.
Martyr- Warpzone featuring Dan Mongrain from VoiVod is absolutely stunning. Anata from Sweden also deserves a mention.
SPAWN OF POSSESSION?
no spawn of possesion this list is pretty fuckin horrible
And no Origin, Rings of Saturn, Psycroptic or Brain Drill:(
psycropticide99 Rings of Saturn is deathcore.
psycropticide99 rings of Saturn isn't a traditional tech death tho? compared to what's on the list, besides sloppy af live
danny ingersoll also would Meshuggah classify as tech death? coz they cover such a variety of sub genres
danny ingersoll no sir, these are the bands that started it. this list is actually showing respect to the ogs
rest in peace Chuck
What where's Nocturnus & Demilich?
The fact that death is so low on the list is making me anxious
Death was number 1 though...
@@Hail_Hydreigon that's too low
When I think Tech Death I think about bands such as Obscura, Necrophagist, Beyond Creation, Spawn of Possession, Decrepit Birth, First Fragment, Irreversible Mechanism and Atheist/Cynic/Death as early tech/prog death.
Despite being intense and having songs that are really hard to play, I don't think of bands such as Suffocation, Nile and even Dying Fetus fit the term of "traditional" tech death.
MetalForTheMasses Nile can easily fit under the brutal tech death genre.
MetalForTheMasses me neither it’s like they heard one arpeggio and thought oh this is technical lol
I agree. Tech death today is more defined by bands like Necrophagist and Obscura. However it is a wide sub genre with bands like Gorod and stuff, who are more progressive. But still, that basic sound still defines it.
Özgür Akkurt Yeah, they aren’t tech death in today’s standards but I think they are one of the founders of the genre overall, prog/tech death. They had the right song structure with solos and stuff (the solos did have fast alternate picking, although just in the older wild style, not the super clean style today). The prog aspects with slower parts and shit are big part of tech death today too. I definitely think they were a huge influence to the genre, but they aren’t really tech death in modern terms.
Dying Fetus and Suffocation is rather brutal death metal
Nile is still my favourite.. It's always instant eargasm
Am I the only one who sees Cannibal Corpse as a tech death band? I mean Alex Webster's INSANE bass lines say it all
Their technical ability is pretty criminally underrated.
They have there technical songs
I appreciate loudwire giving us the greatest quality they could find
Loudwire seems like they do a basic wiki search for these lists
@@christophercooper7467 yep

John I was so upset when I didn't see papa roach here like wtf
John ikr? Zeppelin needs to be here too, Kurt Cobain killed it on the drums, I wish he never dies any soon.
I didn't see any Limp Bizkit. Incredibly disappointed.
Complete lack of Linkin Park. Come one guys. One of the finest technical melodic progressive techno acid banjo metal.

Gojira?
More ProgDeath than Tech Death and actually they are more ProgProg
Tabasco Puffen backbone is for sure death metal
Sebastián Vladimir VO Just because their last album was different doesn't them not death metal. They're just experimenting a bit.
The Riff Notebook First album was definitely death metal, everything else is progressive/prog death.
I always saw Gojira as being more groove than technical, though they definitely have a progressive flavor to their sound. If they do a death/groove list, they should definitely be on it.
I'm glad Obscura is on the list cause I feel like they're way underrated, but how could you not include e.g. Archspire, Intimate Existence or Eye of Horus? The classic and influential bands fit right in here, but they aren't the only ones that kick some ass.
Hour of Penance, Hideous Divinity, Inferi.
Some of these I wouldn’t consider tech death. Never saw Suffocation as a tech death band.
Dude how... they invented it
inferi is awesome
1:47 it's spelled, atheist, no athiest
This list is orgasmic. For once I'm totally agreeing with a list from Loudwire.
I was fortunate enough to meet Suffocation in 2015 with Frank. Never met Nile but I bought some autographed merch from Karl. He made a mistake and to make up for it he sent me the Zero Tolerance magazine poster that had hung in their studio while they recorded some of their finest work and signed it too.
Where is gojira ????
The first two Decapitated and first two Psycroptic albums are insane and worth a few listens. List is decent even without them though. Gorguts is a funny one because they're avant-garde and have so many different aspects to their music. It's insane.
*_SUFFOCATION_*
For brutal death
FutileExistence Suffocation are the god-fathers of slam
Stab Master Arson essentially, but they were also very essential to the creation of brutal death metal. Slam is basically that with groove metal influences

potatoking 81 i would add faceless and beyond creation too
Godplayer Gaspa true. I honestly forgot about beyond creation

Overrated, plus too new to make an impact. These bands have been around for years making a name for themselves in the metal community.
Goabnb94 no. Overrated would be suffocation.

Goabnb94 Finally! Someone with a healthy sense of audition. I'm a fan of BC and even I know they're overrated AF. Sorry for my shitty english
How the fuck is Beyond Creation overrated? IMO their compositions are much more interesting than most of the bands listed here.

Do we really have to sub genre everything nowadays? Why can't death metal just be what it is? Some bands play obscure technical measures, some bands make up chords and put notes together that don't go together, and some bands sweep pick until you have to stop and say, "we get it, you're a fast guitar player". In the end it's all death metal though isn't it? Christ...hardcore, grindcore, metalcore, deathcore, progressive death metal, technical death metal, death metal, doom metal, sludge metal, hair metal, stoner metal, neoclassical metal, black metal, thrash metal...technically progressive neoclassical hair stoner black thrash deathcore metal...it's all a bit ridiculous.

DEATH IS ON EVERY SINGLE FUCKING LIST. I LIKE THEM BUT JESUS CHRIST
Garrett Warman it's because they are the best
Mclovin Love They're only progressive, melodic, and standard death metal. They aren't technical, they aren't brutal, they aren't symphonic, and they sure as fuck aren't brutal technical.
I only like Necrophagist on this list
Garrett Warman I like them too, and I'm glad they are on this list. Progressive/Technical death metal would not have existed without the great Chuck Schuldiner. So appreciate them for being on this list.
It's likely because in addition to being arguably the greatest and first actual death metal band, they went through a massive level of stylistic evolution that encompasses most of the subsets of the style. If I were making a list, I wouldn't put them in as being a brutal death band, but I could see putting them in a list of melodeath, progressive death, tech. death and old school death bands depending on which album is under consideration.
did a non-musician make this list?
Dying Fetus is my all-time favorite. The fact that John plays those crazy riffs and sings is amazing. They should be higher up, but I'm glad they are on the list.
