My son is getting one from Santa in a couple weeks. So is my nephew. Both are 2019 models. When do we remove the restrictor plates? The throttle limiter screws MUST stay in until our kids learn to ride. I got a new 1993 model TRX90 back when I was 9 years old, 25 years ago. I remember the throttle limiter screw, but no restrictor plate.
My son’s 2019 TRX 90 did NOT come with a restrictor plate. I checked. Either it didn’t come from the factory that way or the dealer removed it when we bought it. Either way, it’s not on there.
Is it supposed to run with it on? Because mine dies out at the end of 1st beginning of 2nd. I took it off quad works perfect. Back to my question though. Is it meant to stay on?
There is a screw and lock nut in the lower throttle housing that can be adjusted to limit throttle lever movement. Nothing in the engine that is operator adjustable.

Remove the restrictor plate right away. The machine will not run correctly with the restrictor plate. RPM will be limited to just over idle speed.

Removed the plate but mine feels like it’s choking, it still runs same speed

You have a clean carburator and fresh fuel, right? Just askin....
You may need to re-tune the carb

Mine idles fine with it on but I put it in first it goes and dies out at the end of 1st.
