  • Typical no-start on a Honda Sportrax 90 (TRX90EX) that had been sitting a several months. Tip: By removing 2 extra bolts for the intake manifold / intake horn, the carburetor can be removed without disassembling the seat, air filter box, fuel tank, fuel tank or fenders. TRX90 and TRX90EX carburetors are identical except the TRX90EX's carb cap (the cap through which the throttle cable enters the carb) may be a larger diameter.

    Been waiting on my buddy to clean mine but now I think I can do it myself. The text in the video and the fact that you put it all back together really helps. What brand of carb cleaner do you like?

    Hello, do you know if the crf 100 carb will work on a trx 90 ? People are saying they will run stronger with the crf carb but I’ve never seen one here on the tubes to check out for sure

    Cleaned out the carb and made sure I could see through all the little holes on the jets, however, i still need to give it gas and warm it up for a few minutes before it idles. Is that also your experience after the carb cleaning?

    I took those first two hoses off and fuel came out. How did you not have any come out

    Could this be why my trx90 bogs when in idle?

    I found out that that little intake peice thats on the motor dosnt have to come off the two bolts that hold the carb on the carb slides off

    • @redneckoriental
      @redneckoriental  4 роки тому +2

      You are correct, the intake manifold doesn't have to come off. But you will find removing and reinstalling the carb much easier if you just remove it. It's just 2 bolts. It's especially difficult to install the rear part of the carb to the boot for the air filter box if you can't slide the carb forward/backward because the manifold is in the way. As you can see in the video at 2:00, I am able to pull the carb straight forward to remove it. And at 6:50, push it straight in to reinstall. I would be almost impossible to do this without the intake manifold removed because you would have to push/pull sideways. So, this often forces you to remove the fuel tank and unbolt the air filter box to move the rubber boot back, away from the carb.

      PB BLASTER. Spray, let soak for about 10 minutes.

    Hi, where does the bottom line (below carburator) connect? Mine is just dangling lol.

    • @moocow2529
      @moocow2529 3 роки тому +1

      It just dangles. It's where fuel comes out when you unscrew the drain screw to drain the bowl. You don't even need that hose. It just gives the fuel a place to empty out.

    Is it safe for the engine to run seafoam to clear out fuel system?

    • @coletrick8748
      @coletrick8748 Рік тому

      Yes it’s safe but you really need to manually clean the jets to do it right

    Can a clogged jet also cause the atv to overheat?

    • @redneckoriental
      @redneckoriental  4 роки тому

      Yes. it can. Running lean causes the engine to run hotter. A partially clogged jet can cause it to run lean.

  • @tyrellprice701

    Is that for all bikes ?

    • @redneckoriental

      Most smaller engines will have similar carbs. Larger ATVs have larger carbs, more parts and pieces, but same concept.

    • @redneckoriental
      @redneckoriental  4 роки тому

      The seal for the bowl? Use a pick. If it doesn't come off easily, it may be too old to be reused.

  • @jamesbarbas
    @jamesbarbas 2 роки тому

    Maybe I missed it...there are two air tunnels at the intake that lead to the jets. They should be cleaned.

    • @redneckoriental
      @redneckoriental  2 роки тому

      Not really. The chole is just a plate that blocks the flow of air. If it looks dirty or is hard to move, clean it. Otherwise, it doesn't do much.

    • @A1rsoftKid
      @A1rsoftKid 2 роки тому +2

      Excellent observation. There are two channels. One for each jet. Might be atmospheric control. They must be cleaned. Also you should crack that 17mm nut. Or if it’s too tight try to get the sediment out from the side my removing the two Phillip screws from the on/off/reserve valve and shooting carb cleaner from there. It’s designed to be a sediment trap. Also mark the fuel hoses as it’s easy to mix them up. The bottom hose should be the on gas and the top reserve.

    I just tried this on mine and now it won’t start.. Before it was at least working now I can’t even get it to fire.

    • @redneckoriental
      @redneckoriental  2 роки тому

      Remove the carb again. Is there fuel in the bowl? If there's no fuel in there, the float needle is stuck closed. Otherwise, clean it again. Sometimes I have to clean a carb 2 or 3 times before success. But if yours suddenly doesn't work, you did something wrong.
