Thanks for the detailed comparison. Makes us feel we definitely made the right choice buying Merlin. We also feel that the CV range has a more modern, streamlined feel to it. Not to everyone’s taste of course, but we love it 👍🧙♂️
@@RickandHeather yes. We are quite lucky as Graham is 5’10”. It does give a few more options sleeping transverse. We rarely travel with seats as sofas. ( lazy 🤣) as a bed you get storage too. But it definitely doesn’t feel as airy or spacious as Pearl. Always a compromise with a van. But we love it nonetheless 🧙♂️😊
Good comparison. We looked over the Swifts before going for the CV60. I couldn't justify the extra cost to have a few chrome bezels, less storage and fewer practical bits of kit. Even the sales staff at Brownhills had to concede they were hard to shift whilst they had Elddis vans on display. The gangway pinch-point was also a factor (we enjoy our cooking), so the CV40 also had to be rejected for the same reason. Incidentally, how do you get on cooking in the CV20? Probably the main reason we went with the CV60 was the proximity of the hob and bench seat in the CV20 - curry can make a real mess!
Great comparison - interesting you highlighted the gangway size as when I first looked at the Swift that was something I noticed but on last look for some reason I didn’t spot that. Definitely more open isn’t it I’m the cv20. Litmus test if Swift and Elddis were same price would you have chosen different? Whilst the Swift is definitely plusher, and also I haven’t received mine yet but would stick with the Cv20. Enjoyed watching as usual, David
If they were same price and spec I’d have probably picked Swift but the Elddis was better spec for the money, better built? I’ll never know….. although the Swift definitely looks nicer inside to me.
We bought our Elddis CV40 last March 2020 from Don Ammot metallic grey priced at £43.600 though didn’t come with solar panel or awning but otherwise same extras you have with your CV20 good value though built to a price. Overall pleased with it if had to pick holes then for our needs Elddis has crammed to much into it, the kitchen area is very narrow the window blinds are flimsy the overhead kitchen cabinet next to the microwave is coming away from the bulk head due to poor plastic fixings. Good points are side sliding door rear barn doors , we have fitted a swing away cycle rack to take two ebikes which could be also used to carry extra storage. In my opinion the price of the Swifts would be more than I would pay
Yep all built to a price, I think Swift still has a bit more of a name so can charge more, it was nice but 6k? No. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
For me, if I were buying one of them, I would have the Champagne model but with the lovely 9 speed auto which we had to pay almost £3k for as you pay for the upgrade from the 120ps to 140ps and then the automatic gearbox. Fancy breaking the toilet handle 😂
Bought our champagne 2 years ago for 43k can’t believe how much they’ve gone up, ours has the storage above the cab, like it much better than that sky light, cheers 👍🏻
It has cupholders where that daft glove box is in mine. The truma control panel is better than the one in my CV40 too. The hips don't lie Rick! I especially like that shower room door. Great idea that it folds in half. Might have to mod my door in future. A tambour door would have been even better. (comments are about the champagne model) Great video Rick. I will be doing a similar comparison when I visit Elddis in September to look at the new model. Just looking. Not buying. You were right to choose the CV20 in my humble opinion. Not worth £6k more for that one.
The door has to fold as the shower is slightly bigger in the swift than the CV20, the aisle is narrow in a 40 over a 20 due to the shower room being slightly back, tambour doors are much better though I think, I’m glad we went Elddis tho.
I’ll have to try to do one, issue is they’re usually on a petrol forecourt and as soon as you get the phone out someone is on the tannoy…. It really is quite easy though (I’m guessing there must be a video on UA-cam somewhere as it’s a generic system)
Great to see comparisons! Well done Rick!

Me too!
I love the 40 just sometimes being tall ruins my choices 😂 next van 6.3m long….
@@RickandHeather I'm just a shorty but I know exactly what you mean. At 5'10 I find it a bit of a squeeze to be honest.

We agree totally on all the points, don’t tend to do “spitty” stuff on the hob we cook outside a lot or use the oven.

Yep I’m a vandal! I do like the auto but the extra price I feel is just too much on top of an already expensive van.

Yep they certainly added “Covid stay at home holiday tax” to vans…..
Was just having a look at the swift 122 on the swift site and I beleive you can get a 140bhp engine upgrade and a few extra goodies for £5000 more...
Yep bargain 😂 at the end of the day it’s about value for money even to an Englishman 🤣

Need a video on how to refill the gas on the cv range
