Will check my battery tomorrow, cheers. Covered the heating pipe in the wardrobe with a bit of drainpipe yesterday, only paper like material, on our old van got crumpled when the space was filled.
First of all,cheers for winding me up 😀. My pet hate is dealerships. I’ve had 2 new caravans. The first , the inboard water tank drain pipe was not pushed through the floor fully if ever it was and flooded the van. The second van there was an inch burn mark on the back of one of the seat cushions. I shan’t go into warranty claims as I do not want another heart attack. One was enough.🙄. Great mods Rick! You're modifications add value; I believe that someone else will like these better than what came from the manufacturer. I remember when my Dad checked over their new motorhome and the fools at the dealer ruined the driver's seat AND damaged the wood frame because they FORGOT to move forward the seat when they brought in the main slide-out! If it were me, I would have refused delivery! I think there were other issues, it had been over ten years. Pearl looks lovely!
You could understand some minor point getting missed on the PDI but not checking that the leisure battery is secured and connected is crap. With lockdown you would have thought the dealer would have had plenty of time to do a thorough PDI, especially considering the price of brand new motor homes.
You are not alone, the battery in my CV40 was the same regarding not being bolted down properly, terminals were tight but the solar panel hadn't being correctly wired to the battery so it was just there for decoration on the roof....! The battery breather pipe that vents out through the floor was also just placed in the box and not attached....Customer service is non existent in the UK it seems....
We’ve made them agree to collect the van on Friday do a complete recheck and bring it back on Monday 😂 we’ve found a leaky tap too so they will blink 1st. It’s a lot of money for a shoddy job....
Absolutely right, it’s your van you do alterations so it works for you. I’ve altered mine to suit my life too. Yes I wonder why you never get fire extinguishers or fire blanket either, odd

Nice video, all helpful tips and advice. Very poor dealership it is their responsibility to see that the vehicle is fit for purpose. Agree fully with all the modifications , at the end of the day its your van and you want to be comfortable and enjoy it. take care
Just as well you know your stuff , as you said what would someone new to it have done especially if they went away in it straight away , some good points mentioned 👍
It’s a great looking van but surprised to see the battery in that condition. I use those quick release terminals too but also have one of those big red isolation switches for the habitation battery and also one next to main vehicle battery that isolates the split charge feed too.
Hi, well you are on it! I would speak to that famous dealership and ask " will I pay for first year service" due to poor shoddy workmanship, the PDI in the workshop is appalling. I would expect to be told NO it will be free. Service manager needs a chat.
@@RickandHeather oh my days, sounds like third year free or free accessories of your choice. Tell them you may reject it re sale of goods act. Even if you don't want to best say it. Copy the branch manager in on emails, I would also contact the CEO office. Don't dither, they are only car dealers
Service 😂 the dealership can’t even check to see if the battery is connected. Top tip . When dropping the van off have the dealership walk around the van with you to check any dents etc. I had a van mysteriously develop a dent after a service.
Can;t believe it left the factory like that !!! QC must of had a off day !!!! They are made just up the road from me, shoddy geordie workmanship lol only kidding :-) we are hoping to get the CV40 at some point
I’d assume they’re under pressure to produce the volume with Covid restrictions but even so it was delivered to our dealer in October and we collected in December you think they would have checked it better!
We have an Elddis Encore 255 and sorry to say we have had many issues. Two years later it is in the workshop in January to have some work done on it, although we have done nearly all issues ourselves. Are you in the Elddis Motorhome Owners group on Facebook as it's a really friendly group and very helpful too.

We are buying a CV20 and went to have a look in our dealership to give it a once over before collecting it in March. The leisure battery wasn't in the van, so obviously it was you dealer who hadn't correctly fitted the battery, not Elddis. We noticed also that the sliding door fly screen on the van we are buying didn't actually close properly, so there is a big gap! We have asked our dealer to have a look before we collect, it might be worth checking yours? Looking forward to seeing all your mods and picking some tips up!
I’m not sure what happened really, I’ve heard a few bad stories and lots of good, the faults found so far should have been discovered upon pdi (bear in mind the van arrived from Elddis in October and we collected in December) clearly someone didn’t check, fingers crossed it’s rectified and there won’t be anything else major....
PEARL THE ELDDIS CV20 we bought the eldis evolution 185 in March just before lockdown.. the heater won’t work on gas, just keeps cutting out.. says it’s overheating.. goes in early jan.. I only live in Lincoln so 20mins drive to Brownhills.
@@barronsclose truma heaters are not the best in my opinion.... we’re over an hour away but I’m not going to slate Brownhills, true the faults we had were avoidable but it’s sorted (hopefully) after our perseverance.

That's pretty appalling for any dealership to turn a vehicle out like that. PDI clearly not carried out correctly. Rectify it and crack on.... Nice van.
Not any holes in exterior so I’m ok with that, warranty on interior wood won’t really make any difference imo, I can’t buy a van and not use it just because it might hurt a warranty if I drill a hole in interior wood part.
First time I’ve watched your Camper channel mate, very interesting, I had a 1989 Renault Traffic camper 1.4 petrol! The Leisure battery in it wasn’t getting charged, I never kept the camper long enough to sort the problem, am I correct in saying the Alternator charges the leisure battery and the van battery? The van battery was charging, but not the Leisure battery. It was great fun using it though rather than using B&B, and a lot cheaper!
Hi Just a general inquiry regarding the Elddis Evolution CV40. I see the Fresh water tank, Gray water tank, LPG tank and the 10lit boiler reservoir water are all under slung. I am concerned about winter use and freezing of the water and gas in these chambers. How is this prevented? Most vans have water tanks inside the van! What sort of winterisation and insulation or heating does it have? KR Neil
Elddis offer a “winter pack” option where the tanks are insulated and also have a heating probe in to keep them from freezing up, we took that option with the dealer special we had.
Lots of weekend trips a couple of single weeks and a usual 2 week tour somewhere, 2021 hopefully a return to Scotland as we were supposed to be there this year but Covid scuppered that!
Elddis shocking quality control or PDI by the dealership. p.s Our leisure battery is under the passenger front seat so very difficult to access so I hope they never make the same mistake on this type of arrangement.

Hi Neil. Elddis build quality is ok, cheap and cheerful I suppose as it is a budget van after all, when we first got it there were issues but Brownhills sorted them for us, we’ve had no reason to fall out with them although we’ve heard some stories that people have (makes us wonder if it’s how they approach the situation as we’re firm but not rude so?) We ordered in May 2020 and got it in December although it was ready in October but the lockdown was on. I’m hearing lead times are now longer due to a shortage in supply and also prices are a lot more, we paid £44.500 I think they’re around 50 now. We do wish we’d had the auto but it was 2k more. We had to have the 20 as I’m 6ft 4. Hope this helps 👍
What bright spark (see what I did there 🤣🤣) didn’t tighten up that battery, I wonder if that’s from factory and dealer is suppose to tighten. Must have been a right drip (pun intended) to have not checked the van over properly and looked for dripping taps 🤣🤣🤣 and as for you screwing.... what you and heather do is up to you, you know the saying... when the vans rocking, don’t come knocking 🤣🤣🤣
@@RickandHeather the battery alone is a safety issue. Bad connections are a potential fire risk. Then the thing been loose in its box can soon do damage. Least getting it sorted out.

You would expect everything would be perfect paying a fair bit of money , the dealership should of made it perfect for you they must know folk are all different sizes , and nobody want things rattling around so I would of thought 2020 vans every base was covered if not by the maker then the dealer just what I would expect people don't seem to care much these days they just want the money and then your a headache to them unfortunately 🤔
Didnt you have a hand over when you went to pick the motorhome up.They should have gone through all the workings with you and the electrical issue would have shown up straight away.In some respect you should have tested everything before you left The dealership.As the saying goes buyer beware.
We got a virtual handover on video because of Covid. The battery presumably worked loose because of no bolt, I’m guessing the tap was turned on for a second or 2...

The dealership don't issue fire blankets and fire extinguishers because they don't connect the batteries which start fires...

We’ve emailed a complaint and had a response, I expected the odd faults but not blatant ones.

It’s going back to the dealer on Friday for a proper pdi 😂 and to fix a water leak, our fly screen is ok.

They come with the van, along with the leg clips should you want to fasten them to the side of the van

In business it’s probably cheaper to let a few dodgy ones through and fix the percentages that actually get discovered than 100% check everything.....

It is, but apparently in extreme circumstances it can still gas, vent now fitted. 👍
