I think one of the really tragic things about Junko in this series is that literally NO ONE can understand Despair the way she does. Being the Ultimate Analyst means being able to predict anything and becoming bored with everything as a result. Why bother with things like joy and Hope when you know exactly where it will lead due to your talent? That's why she gave Despair to the entire world, as it was the one thing she saw as unpredictable and exciting; the only way she could truly experience happiness and perhaps give that "happiness" to others.
The problem, however, is that she's the only one who truly desired despair. Mukuro and Monaca were more aimed at pleasing Junko rather than for Despair itself. The Remnants of Despair were brainwashed into loving Despair, and even then, they still held hope to see Chiaki again (Alter Ego Chiaki being the proof). Even Izuru, while possessing the same talents, simply studied Despair for its unpredictability and doesn't enjoy the suffering of others. Embracing Despair is always a losing scenario; if you do fully give in, you lose yourself to insanity and chaos with little regard to anything else like Junko, but nearly everyone else who don't die in the killing games chooses to move pass and grow from that despair to become better people, whether it means embracing Hope for a better future (Hope's Peak arc), or destroying the system that promotes the bloodshed which births that Despair (Danganronpa V3).
And in this continuity, I think that is what Junko's beginning to see. No matter how deep the Despair, her loved ones and classmates will move forward one way or another, no matter what she does. Once her mind registered this, Despair; the very thing which gave her life meaning, became boring and predicable as well, and in her desire to taste the Despair she once knew, she turns to the one thing she never thought she'd have to; Hope. Her Hope is that she will be able to fully taste true Despair again. She give the world (us) Despair by throwing away her desire for Despair and choosing to embrace Hope, and when that day comes when she returns to her old self, wreaks havoc on the world and embraces the void, her Hopes and Despairs will fully be realized, just as she wanted.
But if that day never comes; if she commits to Hope forever and never again obtains the Despair she once knew, well... that too, is a form of Despair.
I could not have said any of this better myself. Well fuckin said dude! I’m so glad someone gets it. There’s no “changing” her, chances are she’s already tried to change herself several times. She’s not a normal human being. It’s almost impossible to think of a redemption arc for her that doesn’t completely undermine her character, the real her with all hope and despair aside. So in the end (Sakura’s voice), it always comes back to despair with her so long as you’re staying true to her character.

Actually you kinda wrong, the scene with Makoto is the outlier. Anyone who is asked what does junko want always give the wrong answer but Naegi guessed it pretty well, a future she can not predict. The only thing he didn’t get was that it wasn’t a hopeful future she wanted but he isn’t necessarily wrong either, since everything has always gone her way she just think a good future isn’t a possibility for her anymore. So yeah Naegi is the only person who understand Junko take that as you will.

Adding onto that, that also might be why she’s also the Ultimate Fashionista: Trendy fashions and styles change all the time, so even if she could predict it, there’s always a change going on, which helps that boredom at least a little.
I would kinda love junko if she was like this in reality, her not being despair obsessed shows her true personality

It's...actually genius how Junko and Mukuro share events with the same students. Similar subject matter, but totally different personalities.
It's more or less how they handled the twins in UTDP. Meeting the same people in largely the same scenarios, for different conversations.
Izuru and Hajime were handled the same way too.

Its nice to see her act nice for once but you can feel her genuine depression over it.

honestly i kinda feel a little bad (well in this world the mainline world i dont) for her especialy when looking at her past its quite tragic so seeing her not hurting anyone but being depresed it makes me a little sad she just realy needs a good therapist
Enoshima does suffer from existencial boredom and chronic depression. It's inate of her since that's who she is. The fact that she is aware of the fact she never should've been born it's so fascinating and utterly despairfull. In the end it's always despair so she can't run away from it. But does she?

I like how in one of her sprites in which she crosses her arms, she has a little smile that goes, "You know, I could get used to this..."

Well it happened to Izuru, so it could happen to her. Her Ultimate Analysis talent could have her predict and get bored of it. Hell, the Ai Junko was really bored of her game because she knew exactly how everything would play out and how similar it was to the last one. Which is honestly kind of sad since Junko’s only way of feeling human is despair.

I found it funny how Enoshima maybe is into swimming. Even Asahina got sarcastically scared of Enoshima's ability on it. She also made another inuendo on it at the end.
So here we can actually see what kind of a person Junko would've been if not twisted by despair from early age.
Probably the most loving, caring, sweet and supportive character of the franchise. If we put it like that that her emotions were torn inside-out by some early traumatic experience or maybe even brain injury so that pleasure is mixed with pain for her... We can say that all cruelty of the killing games if taken with same force but opposite side is exactly the strength of her affection and love to her classmates.
And the worst part is that she fully understands how awful her thoughts and intentions (and actions in the main storyline) are. And ironically that only adds to her guilt and self-hate that gives her pleasure and thus not doing any good cause she wants to feel more of it.
She can't even imagine herself being indeed what she is playing in this summer camp - a person who can love others NORMALLY, someone who she probably was supposed to be.
Makes me wondering if anything could help - brain surgery or some kind of medicine, anything to fix that sadomasochistic obsession or at least to subside it to, say, enjoying physical pain with some bdsm practice. Other thing that she should be in a specific condition to even agree to such surgery in the first place. Condition like the one in this summer camp.

So they did this perfectly. It was a huge risk having Junko give up despair but they did it in a way where it doesn’t contradict her character. Junko loves despair because of how unpredictable it is but over time you will get bored with something for too long. So now she’s trying something different in hopes of a bed stimuli
All of her potential talent tasks are "what is despair again?".

I feel so on high alert watching this video. Like Junko is going to suddenly do something bad at ANY moment. Its sad because that girl canonically really needed a damn hug that she never received.
Junko herself claims she was born the way she is, but Danganronpa Zero disproves this entirely. Both by her time as Ryoko Otonashi, and Mukuro implying it. I forget the exact quote from Mukuro, but she basically says Junko "learned" to be the way she is as a result of trauma.
