I never cared about genre or whatever category people are in, all I know is I love music, and if it moves me, I love it. God Gifted talent like this feeds my soul. I’m gonna be 67, I listen to all kinds of music, have all my life, forget the genre’s, doesn’t matter. I’ve never been one to say “Oh I only listen to this or I never listen to that”. We’re ALL Souls, I enjoy watching young people like you listening to things you didn’t know and seeing how much you get it too.
I typically dont like songs being interrupted but watching you listen to Chris Stapleton from a fresh perspective is great. I can tell you feel his music.
@Jennifer zekas....100%. Cold is incredible. I'd also suggest parachute, whiskey sunrise and the devil always made me think twice. Traveller and starting over are also amazing. Hard to go wrong with chris. He's the country version of Bob seger. Amazing singer and songwriter. Huge collection of hits you can't go wrong with.
First time I ever heard this song, I closed my eyes & could visualize someone walking that "last mile". He & his writing can take you places & that's the mark of a great musician. Imo
Love hearing your reaction to Chris Stapleton!! Reminds me of my first time hearing Snoop. Im an ole, white hillbilly lady, but I think it's time we all just came together with some good music and love and support each other!!! Love to you, Brother!
2:32 Chris' music is just a beautiful blend of roots music (or Americana). He's blues, country, folk, gospel/soul, and rock and roll, among others. His music, regardless of genre, is outstanding
Chris can do it all. He started out in bluegrass (steel drivers), went on to rock/blues (jompson brothers) now on his own. He sings, writes his own songs and plays the heck out of the guitar. As Stan below said, Chris is his own genre.
You’ll be hard pushed to find a Chris Stapleton song that you won’t like. For something more upbeat, try Justin Timberlake and Chris Stapleton live at the CMAs 2015 doing Tennessee Whiskey/Drink You Away 🙂
This is one of those special artists that transcends any genre. I am not a country fan, but I am a big fan of a handful of artist they place in that genre. Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks (one of the best concerts I have ever seen), and Chris Stapleton.
Chris is simply incredible. You’ll understand as you continue to,listen to him. Funny, I am not a fan of most country music, but I am absolutely obsessed with Chris. That’s him playing guitar, his wife sings with him and his entire band is amazing. We’ve seen him in concert three times and will be seeing him in October, 2022 again (tickets have been purchased). I never thought I’d continue to see the same artist over and over again, but he’s addicting. He’s SO fantastic live. As others have said, you definitely need to check out his live performance of Cold. You’ll be blown away.
He's usually the lead guitar in most of his song's too. Also most folk's dont realize his wife also is a well known song writer and sings with him in most songs!
Many country fans also enjoy the Blues. To us, both say America's Heart and America's soul in similar yet in different ways. I love Chris as he's found a mix of the two that works well for him.
Great reaction, thanks for doing it! Stapleton’s genre is Stapleton… he floats, and it’s awesome. Not sure if others have mentioned it, but that lead guitar that was killing it is almost certainly Stapleton himself… yeah, he’s that good!
polo reactions make me re-live mine as I grew my listening over the years knowing the best, elder now! live love laugh you remind of a past love his name "Polo" no cap good vibes
Chris admired B.B. King and you can tell it colored his style alot. He is more country Soul/ Blues. He actually is his own genre which has spread through Country Soul AND Southern Rock.
You're right, it is the blues. IMO, when hip hop commanded so much of black musicians' talent, the blues suffered and surprisingly was absorbed by some country musicians. I hope artists like Chris Stapleton reinvigorate a new generation of blues artists, we need it.
Chris Stapleton when he was with the “Steelers” a great bluegrass band turned me into a devotee in 2010+ now he’s turning me back onto The purest blues Along these similar lines another soulful singer I found “ Joss Stone “ back in the day, I think it was about the same time it’s really hard to pick the genre because she has so many I try her earliest when she was just 17 another great BritishSOULFUL singer
Country is just the white man's blues. Every genre dips into blues and r&b. Today's music has no soul to me. I miss the good stuff that makes you feel. Like Chris he makes you feel. Edit: the beat always gives me the mental image of them walking an inmate to the death chamber.
Chris's music is particularly 'old fashioned'. Enough so that it reverberates at a core level. If you like any of the things the blues evolved into, which is practically all modern music, Chris will do something for you.
Thank you for stopping the track and saying what you think and feel. I've already heard the track and have my own feel on it. I watch these kinds of videos because I wanted to hear your opinion. I could have missed something you might see or hear which adds to the way I can experience the music. That's why you just got me as a subscriber. Much love to you for what you're doing.
Chris does Country, Rock, Blues, Bluegrass, and mixtures of some and all. His Rock is with the band called The Jompson Brothers, Bluegrass is The Steel Drivers, Country is self-entitled, and Blues can be found in all of it.
The sound conveyed in this song is the sound of screeching steel like cell doors (at the intro), and the background music sounding like someone ambling or shuffling down the prison halls.
You have turned me on to Chris and now I can't get enough of him. In the process, I became a fan of yours. I like you as a person and enjoy your taste in music. Your analyses are spot on. Thank you for the great entertainment. This little old lady in Indiana is grateful. I wish you a blessed life!
I thought the song was gonna be full of machismo and all that and it really became personal and deep. It felt like I understood why he was there without knowing why he was there and I was sorry as hell he was. Very cool. I feel like this could've been played in the late 50s early 60s and would've drove audiences wild.
Chris is in a genre all his own! Nothing or nobody else like him. He makes you feel everything he sings! Oh and on a different note, you remind me so much of MrLboyd and how he does his reactions. Check him out if you don’t know of him ❤️😂
Suggestion: listen to Chris sing You Should Probably Leave! Chris is all great music rolled into one. He isn’t a circus act…he is a gifted musician and singer. Only takes one word to describe him …AWESOME!
He’s definitely a once in a generation talent.
Chris is his own genre. Keep him comin'.
💯
Yeah thats pretty much truth
Chris Stapleton is a BOSS!
I never cared about genre or whatever category people are in, all I know is I love music, and if it moves me, I love it. God Gifted talent like this feeds my soul. That's soul....
That is him playing Welcome to the Chris Stapleton rabbit hole
I can feel his pain in every song. He draws u into him. He is the greatest
Yes… Cold live at the CMA AWARDS SHOW!!!
I typically dont like songs being interrupted but watching you listen to Chris Stapleton from a fresh perspective is great. I can tell you feel his music.
The vibe is slow, sad, lonely and that of a man on death row. It all blends so well, to let you feel the heart of a man awaiting his day.
Time stands still whenever Chris sings 🙌🏼
My first time hearing this song too. Dammmn sultry walk on death row. Loved it, the man is amazing.
This is absolutely what country music use to be. Telling stories and making you feel things.
WHY DON'T WE JUST CALL IT GREAT MUSIC. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The blues and country music are so much alike in so many ways.
Definitely watch Chris perform live he is amazing - Cold at the CMA awards is fire 🔥
Super duper 🔥🔥🔥
Exactly! He's stellar when live! Saw him in concert and I was blown away
That lead guitar is incredible! What’s more incredible is Chris is singing and playing the lead!
I just LOVE Chris Stapleton! OMG he’s the best!!!!
Great reaction, it's blues chris wrote it .
Chris is playing the guitar. He is doing this alone . No sound affects. Actually his base player is with him.
Blues, Country, whatever it is
Its Chris Stapleton expressing life situations
1 of a kind musician
Awesome.....
That’s him on the guitar.
2:32 Chris' music is just a beautiful blend of roots music (or Americana). He's blues, country, folk, gospel/soul, and rock and roll, among others. His music, regardless of genre, is outstanding

You are right. This is unbelievable. Soo great.
You’ll be hard pushed to find a Chris Stapleton song that you won’t like. For something more upbeat, try Justin Timberlake and Chris Stapleton live at the CMAs 2015 doing Tennessee Whiskey/Drink You Away 🙂
Really cant put chris in a box hes.a mixture of country, rock, r&b,blues, southern rock, jazz hes just his own genre good
This is one of those special artists that transcends any genre. I am not a country fan, but I am a big fan of a handful of artist they place in that genre. Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks (one of the best concerts I have ever seen), and Chris Stapleton.

@@deanmcwhinnie5213 Milwaukee, WI
@@lauranievinski8323 we are coming from Scotland to see him in October too, but it's in Tampa, Florida
Great overview…His wife is an incredible singer as well. I love hearing her in the background on his songs. Chris is definitely one of a kind!
He's usually the lead guitar in most of his song's too. Also most folk's dont realize his wife also is a well known song writer and sings with him in most songs!
He wrote this song in 2007 with a Steel Drivers band mate. Then rereleased it on his 2017 album. So glad he did.
Love your reactions
Dude, you should hear this song live!! It's fricken awesome!!
Lead singer and lead guitar all one amazing singer, songwriter, and proformer
Add "Cold" to your playlist....simply a must! Very talented brother!!
Chris wrote this song and has said this is his personal favorite!
Been in music my whole life, country music runs blue scales, all music is absolutely beautiful just time and error is different with different people
I cannot think of one song Chris Stapleton has written and/or sings that I do not enjoy entirely. He sends me to another place and time every time.
Chris is defintely a blues/bluegrass/country multi faceted melting pot
I stopped trying to a genre for Chris Stapleton. Soul, R&B, funk, pop, gospel and country all rolled up into one fine voice.
Pole, country IS the original blues 💙
this song is legit
Many country fans also enjoy the Blues. To us, both say America's Heart and America's soul in similar yet in different ways. I love Chris as he's found a mix of the two that works well for him.
Chris is a BEAST! Keep him in the rotation!
This artist is an old soul. Love his music.
First time I’ve seen ur channel and enjoying it. His song Tennessee whiskey is smooth and good
He's playing the guitar. A monster live in concert.
His band is so fabulous too and they do covers of all kinds of music. He’s Kentucky born and bred so not only country but blues in his blood.
Great reaction, thanks for doing it!
Stapleton’s genre is Stapleton… he floats, and it’s awesome.
Not sure if others have mentioned it, but that lead guitar that was killing it is almost certainly Stapleton himself… yeah, he’s that good!

Chris admired B.B. King and you can tell it colored his style alot. He is more country Soul/ Blues. He actually is his own genre which has spread through Country Soul AND Southern Rock.
He's blues and country the best of both worlds
This was a great song, a great singer, ,and a true honest review. Thank you for sharing it.
He’s a gift. All wrapped up in one soulful package. God Bless this man.
One of my favorites!
You're right, it is the blues. IMO, when hip hop commanded so much of black musicians' talent, the blues suffered and surprisingly was absorbed by some country musicians. I hope artists like Chris Stapleton reinvigorate a new generation of blues artists, we need it.

My favorite song of his
So glad to see someone react to THIS particular song. Chris Stapleton is my favorite singer.
One of my favorites of his!
Country is just the white man's blues. Every genre dips into blues and r&b. Today's music has no soul to me. I miss the good stuff that makes you feel. Like Chris he makes you feel.
Edit: the beat always gives me the mental image of them walking an inmate to the death chamber.
Straight soul
Chris's music is particularly 'old fashioned'. Enough so that it reverberates at a core level. If you like any of the things the blues evolved into, which is practically all modern music, Chris will do something for you.
My first time hearing this song, love the blues
People are finding it impossible to put Chris into one box, country, blues, rock, southern rock or what. 😄 I think he's his own genre.
Country has history with the blues
Seeing him live is just like the record! The man can sing anything!
Chris can do anything and everything. Blessings, julie
I've never heard this one. I'd stop it too. This is feels
You can feel his guitar.
He is unique......this is not typical country....the man is country soul, country blues.......
That is he means what he sings. He is in every genre. He used to have a rock band.
Yes... a mean growl, wicked guitar and a heart so big it just fills me up.
Fantastic 😍😍😍😍 incredible .
Literal straight up chills
Chris is amazing! Watch him live!
Must listen to the song Cold. By Chris Stapleton
Chris does Country, Rock, Blues, Bluegrass, and mixtures of some and all. His Rock is with the band called The Jompson Brothers, Bluegrass is The Steel Drivers, Country is self-entitled, and Blues can be found in all of it.
Oh! Chris Stapleton does an amazing cover of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters. Seriously worth checking out.
The sound conveyed in this song is the sound of screeching steel like cell doors (at the intro), and the background music sounding like someone ambling or shuffling down the prison halls.
Story of the song every thimp in it is a footstep with the chains scraping and he tells his thoughts before his time
You have turned me on to Chris and now I can't get enough of him. In the process, I became a fan of yours. I like you as a person and enjoy your taste in music. Your analyses are spot on. Thank you for the great entertainment. This little old lady in Indiana is grateful. I wish you a blessed life!
Blues for sure 🙂
Genius musicians transcend genre...Stapleton is one such...nothing he cant do...hes been graced with the gift.
I thought the song was gonna be full of machismo and all that and it really became personal and deep. It felt like I understood why he was there without knowing why he was there and I was sorry as hell he was. Very cool. I feel like this could've been played in the late 50s early 60s and would've drove audiences wild.
I highly recommend seeing him live. It's awesome.
Chris is in a genre all his own! Nothing or nobody else like him. He makes you feel everything he sings! Oh and on a different note, you remind me so much of MrLboyd and how he does his reactions. Check him out if you don’t know of him ❤️😂
Blues on this one !
Suggestion: listen to Chris sing You Should Probably Leave! Chris is all great music rolled into one. He isn’t a circus act…he is a gifted musician and singer. Only takes one word to describe him …AWESOME!
He's playing that guitar. Love the voice ❤
Chris Stapleton has a fan in me… Tennessee Whiskey is one of my favorites, but now this one “Death Row”… and he loves Snoop, so he is chill
This song sung and written by Chris Stapleton came out in May of 2017
Chris says he sings the Truth. That’s his genre.
