@@MacenW I bought deluxe because I can actually play Mario Kart 8 with me in my house since I didn't bother on buying Wii U. If I, now was in the early 2010's again, I would buy the Wii U and 3DS for the great stuff happening, but there is people selling their systems with all the digital stuff owned with a lot of money, so I can be confident enough to play Kirby Deluxe and other games that are Hit or Miss or Mediocre or STRAIT OFF BAD or legend :)
I also bought it because it is good :) and I am happy to play the DLC stuff too.

I know I'm viewing this retroactively, but the coin still does serve a really good purpose, in that if you only have a coin and you hit another item box it won't give you another coin. meaning you can strategically hold on to coins to ensure a different item.
it’s also strategic in case of a ghost, as the ghost will steal the first item in your item slots, the coin, rather than an item you actually to use (and the factor of if the item is actually good, because otherwise it would require you to reset items and hope you don’t get hit)

I basically jumped from Wii to 8 Deluxe (just played 7 a couple of times) so for me it was a massive leap.
And despite feeling the loss of some characters such as Birdo or Diddy Kong and some of my favourite tracks such as Waluigi Pinball, Bowser's Castle DS or Moonview Highway I still think this is the definitive Mario Kart experience.

So as a dad who's child is of age to actually start playing videogames, I've finally got around to grabbing a switch and the main lineup of games. I haven't had a console since the ps3 era, so the fact that I get awesome versions of mario kart, mario, zelda, 3d world, etc etc makes me super jazzed about getting back into nintendo gaming. It's gonna be an awesome Christmas.

I actually love smart steering and auto accelerate. It finally allowed my toddler nephews to actually enjoy the game. Previously I had to hold their hand and keep the button pressed for them.
Also is great for people that have a hard time holding buttons. Win win win.
