Thankyou Elvann, am loving the new single and the message behind it....very clever imagery and hard hitting for the social media obsessed. Great channel 🤘
First time that I fell in love with a Nightwish single released prior to the album, at least since Century Child with Ever Dream. Absolutely incredible song. Can't wait for the album. Thanks for the reaction. The video for this should be released sometime later today I believe.
The coding you are talking about gives Nightwish a unique signature to their music. They not only have recurring musical themes, but also reference other songs in their lyrics. Great analysis Elvann! Loved your song on yt!
Elvann bounces back!!! 😃 Great to see you again, reacting freely and with confidence. That's why we feel at home watching your reactions: you're attentive, fascinated and sharing your thoughts and questions like we're sitting at your table. Pity you reacted before the video! But nice to see you searching and finding references. I agree about the speed power and precision. Excited to see Floor bring this live!!! Keep it up Elvann!
it's just amazing, so powerfull and beautifull. and unlike when endless forms most beautifull was first released, this feels like real (old style) nightwish right away! on facebook someone said he found some part to be very after forever like, upon listening to it again i felt that as well :) now i really can't wait for the concert on november 24th :) almost forget: it's still very fun to watch you, thank you! :)
I know you’d rather reacted to the video, but I’m glad yours’ was to the single itself. It took me 10 times to absorb the video, because there’s just so much in it it that it seems to me you wouldn’t get that much references as you’d be to amazed with the visual. Clearly a great choice to introduce the concept of the album
the references to other songs either lyrically or musically are what clue you in to it being Nightwish without being told. I like it as a first release from the album as well. It's also not as "poppy" as the last few album choices for leads which should make people happy!
Nightwishy sound, I think it's like wat back in the 70's when I listened to Queen.....every song was very different but still very much in Queen sound. Every song is a journey, a new word to discover.....l allready love it.
The Prime Minister of Finland has launched an appeal for kitchen sinks to replace all of those thrown at this track by Tuomas. 🤘I listened to it three times before bed, and I couldn't get it out of my head. They have surpassed anything they've done so far. Jim Steinman's weeping uncontrollably in his studio, and Tarja's probably going to retire to Lapland and breed reindeer. Nah..I love her really! 😋 ❤️ 😘 I even noticed bits of it reminiscent of "Energize Me" from her After Forever days.
Love that Floor gets to use her classical voice now in Nightwish, but is still able to retain the commercial sound that they developed with Anette Olzon (i.e. Dark Passion Play, Imaginarium) but also going back to the operatic style that they originated with Tarja Turunen due to Floor's vocal versatility.
Hiya. Such an intelligent dissection of this amazing new single. I totally agree with your comments regarding the diction, Floor being one of a handful of singers that produce such clarity in a performance, even in the mid-ranges and you are also right in that, like a stick of rock, the composition/score, wherever you enter it, has "Nightwish" written all the way through it. Can't wait for stage performances. All the best to you.
Nice! I have to agree about the elements of other songs! I hear the opening riff from Endless Forms Most Beautiful here (exact same chords!), and the breakdown gives me a similar, albeit darker, vibe to the breakdown in that song. The spooky half steps also sound very Storytime. You've probably watched by now, but the video for this song is AWESOME, it goes ALL OUT with depicting the lyrical message.
There are a lot of elements from the Tuomas' "Music Inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge", both in theme and chord progression. It's so weird to get flashbacks to that whole production when listening to this.
Great to see the beautiful smile again. The best part in your reactions is how you enjoy the music especially Nightwish and how simply you explain the nuances of vocal and singing techniques without being prejudiced or biased. BTW you're morning voice sounds sexy.
I think your reaction is more genuine by listening the voice only track rather than the video clip... Pure music reaction, without affected by the video, love it...
Oh yeess, the first song of the new Nightwish album, finally!! I've been super excited like you, dear Elvann, and I agree, it's soo Nightwish...:-) But that isn't a bad thing at all imo! Indeed Tuomas and Nightwish have managed to create a signature sound through the years, which you always recognize just after a few bars...only a few bands around the planet can claim this for themselves... And yes, of course there are references to former Nightwish songs, but I also hear other elements, for example the breakdown part has for me some Epica feeling... I also can relate very much to your vocal analysis, this is obe thing which I always like at your videos!:-) Great song, I love it and it makes definitly even more appetite on the album!
Great to see such a quick reaction! Keep it up :) The video has been released too and it's kind of creepy and disturbing to watch but fits the lyrics perfectly
Was expecting this release, the first thing I manage to catch was the very similar riffs from Storytime! Then some very similar notes to the GoT theme at the end. Nice analysis of the song and now I’m even more excited about the new album. Cheers from Norway

Omg!!! About that lil connection with ‘The greatest show on earth’ I felt it too!!!! Love this one!! The music video of it cool too! Nice message they sent, completely in love with it.
This is definitely my favorite leading single they've ever put out. It usually takes me a bit to warm up to the first single. It took hearing Elan in context with the rest of EFMB, and years to warm up to anything from Annette. This one grabbed me immediately!
Thank you! That was driving me nuts, Game of Thrones. That was it. I heard the familiarity in the intro, but I couldn't place it. Some great observations and reaction, and Nightwish definitely have their own signature sound. I'd recognize their music anywhere.
Great reaction video! :) But yeah I think know what you mean with some parts sounding like other parts. I think that John Williams once said that "you can't escape your own fingerprint", and as a composer myself I can say that it's very true. That's what creates the signature sound, though.

Hello Elvann. I really enjoyed your reaction, and share your excitement about the forthcoming material. In a recent interview Tuomas did say that he had pushed the whole band artistically, and especially wanted to use the vocal abilities of Floor, Marco and Troy much more on this album. You are absolutely right about the 'coding' - I can hear strains of 'Sagan' when I hear the chorus, and although it is very subtle, the instrumental part of 'Dark Passion Play' can be heard too. Although I am a Brit, I do follow European music and I can hear echoes of Suomi Idol winner Hannah Pakarinen in the phrasing of the verses. I wonder if others agree? Can't wait for the official video (which I believe is out very soon). Keep up the good work: Cheers Kevin
3:37 that's also Alpenglow (...especially at the tempo you sang it... my brain immediately started filling in "...roaming on the endless prairie" and so on :D)
This track is already full of references. Game of Thrones, a signatic melody from endless forms most beautiful, "Color a yarn and the crowds will gather" seems to be a weird reference back to my walden's "weaving my wings from many coloured yarns". Tuomas' music is always full of reference to is favourite avatars. The poet, the dead boy, the ocean and shore, the angel, the meadows of heaven. Not just words he likes, they're specific metaphors and concepts that come up time and time again, which I really love in his writing.
There’s an interesting flavor overall to the music. Kind of a Middle Eastern/Arabic flair with a modern twist. Maybe a hint of moorish inspired spanish styling. It’s subtle, and really really cool. Loving it!
I hear also parts of Master Passion Greed in this and Song of my Self. I get endless chills from brakedown untill the end of the song. I like this song a lot. Nice to see your eyes shine from joy too.
Yes, we hear you regarding the uniquely-NIGHTWISH sounds making a reappearance! Bits like melodic patterns, or the iconoclastic keyboard riffs, mixed with new inventions and tightened attitude (like the "classical" bridge with underlying heavy guitars). Plus, the "robot Dead boy voice" to bring some lines home. It is nice how you, being involved with music-making, appropriately credit Tuomas' tendency to incorporate those characteristic strains of NIGHTWISH sound into their songs! Instead, it got some fans rambling about the band "rehashing" the songs or even "self-plagiarising", whatever that may mean. It seems not everyone gets that several stylistic devices and lyrical ideas run a red line through all of Tuomas' creation, and it is surely by choice - rather to emphasize things and get associations going. Btw, it is frankly for the better that you reacted to the audio format first - it brought out the best in the music. The video is just "loaded" (as everyone has probably witnessed by now), and it frankly distracted me from the song the first time around. :))
It was kinda good that you reacted to just the song. Your analysis was amazing actually. Now you can focus on the visual part whenever you react to the video. Cheers!
I love your all your videos. I found you because of reaction videos. I don't normally set bell for all notifications unless all the content is good, but I have for you. Don't let all the negativity lately get you down. Yes, it will always be here, but you shouldn't let the bad spoil the good.
This song is sooooooo amazing, if the rest of the album is anything simular or whatever its gonna be the best ever. And yes some things are being refered to in many songs, same as in Song of Myself "It's the same old Dead Boy's song"and in Last Ride of the day "Wake up, Dead Boy" or In Alpenglow, "we were here"
It make sense that the music "sounds like" previous songs. It's a new album but it's kind of EFMB 2.0, an evolution of the sound and ideas that were displayed in that record. The band is evolving, so is the sound. Kai is now an official and permanent member, Troy and Floor have more presence on the creative process. So the album sounds like Nightwish, but with a different "flavour". It's impossible to make everybody happy, old fans still want the band to sound like in the 2000's with Tarja and that makes zero sense. And yet, if they did an album like that the same fans will hate it saying "they have run out of ideas and keep repeating the same over and over". Just listen and enjoy.
This is the first time I have actually listened to the song without watching the official video. The video was so well done that it distracted me from the lyrics. It's a great song and looking forward to the album!
Haha! Yeah, deff a bit resemblance with GoT theme in the intro . Soo cool. Can't wait for the album release. You're one of my favorite reactors. Keep on going. Have fun!
Wow you got there fast! Impressive! Loving this song, been listening to it non stop already for the last few hours!! This song actually feels like a culmination of everything Nightwish have ever done - theres a lovely mix of both old school Nightwish and their more recent work, and you can feel the evolution theyve gone through over the years :) If this is a sign of the rest of the album then it should be beyond epic!!! Cant wait to see the music video for this aswell :) April cannot come soon enough!
The energy Nightwish brings always makes me want to... ehm what you call it... pump both fists in the air? They really know how to hype you up with music and voice.
Just realized at 4 in the morning that the angry fast paced section is similar to Planet Hell: "Save yourself a penny for the ferryman, save yourself and let them suffer". To my ears, at least
I heard Noise today morning and spend the rest of the day feeling like I was trapped, in a good way, between Story Time and The Greatest Show On Earth, now I'm glad I wasn't the only one 😅
🔥🔥🔥
I've always enjoyed how self-referential Nightwish is. Love it when they kinda conjure memories of other songs in their new ones.
YESS ABSOLUTELY

Yes. Ritchie Blackmore, for example, did that all through his career

🤘🤘❤️🤘🤘 YES!!!!!! I was waiting for your reaction to this!!!! 😁🤘🤘
3:37 that's also Alpenglow
(...especially at the tempo you sang it... my brain immediately started filling in "...roaming on the endless prairie" and so on :D)
1:45 I can see why you would think it sounds similar Elvann. What makes it different is the uneven syncopated tempo.
There’s an interesting flavor overall to the music. Kind of a Middle Eastern/Arabic flair with a modern twist. Maybe a hint of moorish inspired spanish styling. It’s subtle, and really really cool. Loving it!
Haha I love your morning voice :) Thank you for this reaction
That little part you mentioned sounds like Greatest Show on Earth actually sounds like the last few notes she sings in Ghost Love Score...
I hear also parts of Master Passion Greed in this and Song of my Self. I get endless chills from brakedown untill the end of the song. I like this song a lot. Nice to see your eyes shine from joy too.
OK..... Very OK..... Infact brilliant.. love the track in everyway. Perfection to my ears.
This song has an Imaginaerium feel to me, which is wonderful! I love that album.
great reaction to a great song (first time i'm hearing it too). can't wait for sweden rock festival in june. tnx...
You should watch the official music video as well. It adds so much to the song.
It sounds like a melting pot of my favourite songs, this is incredible i really love this one :D
good analysis elvann!
It was kinda good that you reacted to just the song. Your analysis was amazing actually. Now you can focus on the visual part whenever you react to the video. Cheers!
Great reaction and analysis as usual!
And yes some things are being refered to in many songs, same as in Song of Myself "It's the same old Dead Boy's song"and in Last Ride of the day "Wake up, Dead Boy" or In Alpenglow, "we were here"
If you enjoy precise and well enunciated singing, Eric Adams from Manowar and David DeFeis from Virgin Steele would be right up your alley.
I haven't seen the video yet but I'm really excited about it!
Haha! Yeah, deff a bit resemblance with GoT theme in the intro . Soo cool. Can't wait for the album release. You're one of my favorite reactors. Keep on going. Have fun!
Hey thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
I hear some "Sagan" and "Wishmaster" in there, or?. Awesome!!
I'll have to listen again to catch this one!
Its very heavy and complex song but i love it. This album probably gonna give us the opportunity to see Floor's full potential.
The EPICest single ever from Nightwish
Just realized at 4 in the morning that the angry fast paced section is similar to Planet Hell: "Save yourself a penny for the ferryman, save yourself and let them suffer". To my ears, at least
That's a really nice Taika mug there.
I heard Noise today morning and spend the rest of the day feeling like I was trapped, in a good way, between Story Time and The Greatest Show On Earth, now I'm glad I wasn't the only one 😅
