As a dealer local to where the largest majority of RVs are produced I get a lot of requests to record these factory tours. I'm usually so locked down at the store here at Haylett RV that I just cannot get away. Today, however, I bit the bullet, cleared my schedule, and made the trip to Jayco RV's campus in Middlebury, IN!
They were kind enough to grant me access to their facilities & I was able to get four of these plant tours created! This will be the first of a Jayco Factory Tour Mini Series that starts with North Point and Pinnacle, then Eagle, Jay Flight, and finally the Jay Feather/White Hawk facility!
So give Jayco a big thanks for allowing me the time and access to record this video, click that like button, subscribe, and if you missed them or need extra references enjoy the links to other Jayco Factory Tours I've been able to record previously below as well as some Jayco vs. Jayco brand comparisons!

Thanks for video, very enlightening. Is your footage current or a bit older? Reason being, I have a Pinnacle scheduled to be built April/May timeframe and was wondering if they have started those lines up for the spring run. Thanks again.
Ok will do
Ty Josh for all your videos.....is there any videos on the braking systems on campers and 5th wheels?????
Hey got a question , I’m a home builder and honestly I don’t understand why the RV industry isn’t using spray foam on the underside of the plywood floor at least . I get why they don’t do it in the walls unless it’s a DRV with 3 inch walls but the floors on RVs are cold in winter and there’s a ton of loss in summer with Air conditioning . We use it everywhere in homes and it makes such a difference . They could spray it while the chassis is upside down. Easy and a huge selling point .
They could even do the roof , labor wise it would be less and be much faster. Bat insulation never seals tight and sucks to work with. It would cut down on sound as well. . I’m not a spray foam salesman or care to be one I just see a more efficient way of building things with less labor. It’s a no brainer . Weight shouldn’t be a problem either .
If the rest of the RV Dealer community took as much interest in their present, and future customers as Haylett RV does, nobody would ever own a house again! Thank You Josh for the "scenes behind the scenes" of the RV build processes! ~Lou
Now THAT is a true RV man. A man that can name the RVs by number before they’re even put together.
Lol - it’s NEVER on jeopardy!!
It helps that it’s written on the front of the frame around 2:46
Outstanding video.... And the fact that they are NOT working is a plus. And getting to see one at virtually at every stage of production. Great video Josh...and hats off to you. Your narration is second to none.
Ty Jake!
Amish, that explains a lot. Saying Amish is like saying Japanese or German built, at least that’s what I hear. I love how they take pride in their quality of build
If you can get more videos of off grid and off road designed campers I think that would be great. Not something I personally am looking for but it sure seems that’s where the market is moving. For me personally I would like to see more comparison videos. Quality, features etc between brands
Me too😊
Hi Josh, as I am watching the tour it came to my mind, solar is the new tech that most people want. Manufactures should start installing a conduit from the roof to the storage area so that wiring can be run at anytime for aftermarket solar. Would make it better for everyone
That would be soooo nice
That's so cool to actually see how much work goes into producing a RV
This was such a great video. Thanks for respecting the Amish workers that do not liked to be filmed. So many people think its a game to get a picture of them. 🤨 Wow that roof was awesome. I was so impressed with the quality control that goes into building the 5th wheel during construction, not just afterwards. Happy Easter.🐰🐣
I happened to have grown up with Amish neighbors, so it’s all pretty familiar to me. I don’t think they’re widely understood a lot of times
@@JoshtheRVNerd I noticed the other 3 videos listed for factory tours are listed as private and are not available for viewing. Are they being released on future dates?
@@HugsXO yes -- as soon as I can get them done
@@JoshtheRVNerd No worries. I was just curious. We saw the Jayco one yesterday and it was good. Take your time, I know you have been working so hard. I wish you well.😊
@@HugsXO I'm wore the heck out right now. Going to be a demanding year I think
We went out and watched them build the campers before we purchased one it was very informational it's a must do for anyone that wants to see or purchase a camper
Having worked in equipment manufacturing for over 33 years, I always appreciate the opportunity to see how other manufacturers assemble their products. Very cool. Thanks for the video.
What sort of things did you make?
@@JoshtheRVNerd Skid Steer Loaders and Compact Track Loaders (Gehl, Mustang, and Manitou Brands)
My wife & I bought a 2021 321RSTS Thanks to your reviews of jayco. We love our (tree house) Rv. This is our second rv in four years.
Thank you for showing us the build process!
Oh, I like those Pinnacles. Love seeing what you normally cannot see once they're done. Makes you understand more about why they're priced the way they are.
Ty for watching!!
We've had really good luck with our Jayco the past 5 years. We paid a little more than the other competitors we looked at, but feel it was well worth it . We've had a couple of minor issues but nothing I haven't been able to fix.
I really appreciate you taking us with you on these factory tours. It certainly gives us a view of what goes into the manufacturing process of different brands that we would not likely otherwise see. Thanks Josh🙏
I really enjoy the manufacturer tours you are posting.
My wife and I just purchased a 2021 North Point 310RLTS. It's our first 5ver and it's gorgeous. Seeing the inside factory your makes it interesting to see how it cones together. Thanks
Congratulations Scott!!
Invaluable! Whether your an engineer an RV nerd or just shopping there’s something here for everyone. This provides context for the Jayco difference as well as just understanding an RV in general. Great job Josh, thanks Haylett RV.
Antoine else notice the broken roof truss at 13:50at the rear
air opening
Yah, I was wondering the same thing. When does that get fixed? And how did it get this far?
Thank you very much and thank you to jayco for allowing us all to have a glimpse into what makes these things special.
Appreciate these ‘info’ videos more than you know. No such thing as too much knowledge in anything you’re in to. Glad the line was shut down, imagine you can’t hear yourself think with everything running. We always shut down our production for new customer tours so they don’t feel like they are being shouted at. Respect for the workers faith
Ty Ken :)
Great series I'm watching all 4 now.
Thank you! Enjoy 😊
Thanks for the inside view. I have a new appreciation for how these RVs are engineered and built.
Fat fingers! Respect for the workers faith also commendable. Always wondered how they did all the undercarriage work. Duh... flip the chassis! 🤪. Thanks again for all the great info. Can’t wait for the rest of your tours! Done for real this time.
GREAT factory tour without the factory noise. Also GREAT inside look at production stages.
I would’ve liked to have shown more action, but with Covid I couldn’t get close and the noise would’ve been an issue
Great insights. Often hear how poorly RVs are made but that was actually impressive. Had to cut the bottom cover to access a leaking tank on my current RV... yes duct tape hold it in place now. Had to laugh. Also appreciate the extra effort to provide an access panel. That is the kind of thing 2nd time buyers would appreciate. Thanks!
I’ve actually seen some stats indicating how Jayco was the number one brand chosen by second time owners. Which I think is pretty impressive
Ahhh! That's my RV! North Point! Thank you for the tour! I am such a fan of Jayco and HAYLETT RV 💯
:) :) :)
Thanks Josh, that was super interesting and informative too. I love to see how things are made in general but this is applicable too. 👍🏻
Thanks Nerd! Stop Number Three down the rabbit hole of factory tours!
Love the Jayco Factory tour....looking forward to the next parts. Thanks for sharing.
I’m pretty slammed with work but I think I’ll be able to squeeze in about one a week
Thanks Josh! This was by far the best as we are bias. We ordered a 382FLRB back in February. We enjoyed your review and then to see them being built on the line. We can’t wait to get our new rig. We have sold our house and as of right now....we are full time. Currently in our Wolf Pack 25pack12. Thank you again!
Wow congrats! Enjoy!!
You looked as happy as a fat kid in a candy store Josh! That stack of LP tanks outside was awesome!
Thanks Josh. Feeling even better about our North Point after seeing to roof structure “naked”. I knew that the Magnum XL 6 roof system was stout but gee whiz I had no idea...
There’s nothing stronger out there
Awesome video, I retired from Boeing and some of what I did I worked on the assembly line for the Boeing 727,747, 707, 757 airliner and we build them in stages, I work the structure part, did some work install the wings the k-flaps and a lot in the inside. It's interesting to see all that goes on inside those big jets, I think that you would be amaze on how they are build.
Building the big jumbo jet airliner they look a whole lot worse than the rv's inside, the mess that is made but as they go down the line it start to come together so when the buyer come in to inspect there airliner they are very nice.
Great video. Love to see the "behind the scenes" of construction. It gives so much more information than just the cosmetic aspects. That's a valuable bit of information. Thank you.
*This is the BEST factory tour you have done Joshua* !! *It's less distracting and easier to follow the plan when no one is working* !! *The factory tours help me so much to understand* !! *Such a GREAT design on this Jayco Magnum roof* !! #HaylettRVReviewsNewsAndMore
Ty Susan! Three more from Jayco to come. Hopefully I can get to Places like Rockwood and keystone later on
@@JoshtheRVNerd WOW!!! Looking forward to 3 more from Jayco!! Very happy to hear Rockwood and Keystone tours will be here in the near future!!! BIG Rockwood fan!!
Thanks Josh. Once again going to the limits to not take of Haylett customers but educate the rving community as a whole. You're a wizard Harry!
:)
Oops, that should have said " not only take care of Haylett customers...."
Thanks Josh, love to see how any manufacturer builds their rv’s.
Great video! Thanks Josh!
I love these plant tours and am looking to parts 2, 3 & 4. Kudos to the 88 MPH reference to Back to the Future!
#backintime
Good to know. A lot goes into making one of these, but most just see a great looking finished product. Thanks. Good job.
Nice job! It’s cool to see how other things are made other then automobiles! Been around auto industry 35 years.
Love your 80s comments. Anyways. Thanks for this. This is an eyeopener for me. I had no idea the process is like that. Very very interesting.
Awesome!! Thx for watching :)
Thanks for sharing this. Bought a 2020 32RLTS and it makes me feel a little bit better about “how its made”.
You did well :)
Beautiful rig
I appreciate the info here on the chassis ; thanks Josh!
Glad to help!
I’m here to see the tolerances for wiring/plumbing purchases in the floors. I understand bigger openings make for easier wire/pipe chasing, but it makes it easier for critters to get in, belly skins or not.
Great tour, thanks. Jayco is definitely at the top of my list based on some of the information in your video. Love seeing how they're built.
Glad you enjoyed! I have several other factory tour videos and more coming!
Great look inside a Jayco Fifth Wheel with your added insight and knowledge. We took a tour about 15 years ago, not up close like you. Thanks for this video.
This is great, looking forward to jayflight plant
In another week or two I think. Ty for watching :)
Roof looks like a great build.... but at 14:01 its clearly broken. Yikes!
I appreciate your tour as we went on the tour before purchasing a 2020 Pinnacle 36KPTS. If you have any influence you would tell them to gusset the frame and walls from the vertical sections of the trailer to the 5th wheel section forward and aft to that tubular section on this video about 2:10 in...CRACKS in the wall sections front corner driver side of slide outs of many models!!!
This was a fantastic video. Nice job Josh.
Wow! After seeing how they build them it baffles me even further how they can't organize the wiring and plumbing in a better and more professional manner. And the amount of scrap laying on the floor that could easily be swept up and cleaned is unbelievable. Not a lot of pride by the folks on the assembly line as I've noticed in my new 2021 RLTS that I'm reinstalling pex that was kinked and leaking. I cleaned up many many wires that were rubbing on things and secured some stuff in my basement area with a simple extra screw. My refrigerator has all sorts of busted plastic on the bottom you cannot see unless you take stuff apart. This comment comes from me spending big money on one recently. Now to see how the longevity is...
Very informative! Thank you for doing this Josh!
Great video. Always enjoy seeing the how things are built.
We love our North Point
Can’t blame you. Especially this last year they just got so so good
Thank you Josh for making this video! We have a North Point 377RLBH on order right now and I am so thrilled to see how it’s constructed! It calms my nerves a little bit more about our RV being constructed during these times of backlogs and “let’s hurry up and get them out the door” mentality. Jayco seems to be doing it right!
Great job. Thank you.
Great tour. Thanks! 😀
Glad you enjoyed it!
That was very interesting. Excellent video my good man. I’ve always wanted to see a behind the scenes view of how this units are built. Thanks for going the extra mile Sir.👍
Ty so much for joining us! Check the video description for a few more that are out plus links to 3 more Jayco yours that will be rolling out in coming weeks!
Thanks Josh, that was awesome to see!
That’s really cool. I love seeing how they’re made. Looking forward to the other tours.
Ty so much for joining us! Check the video description for a few more that are out plus links to 3 more Jayco yours that will be rolling out in coming weeks!
Thanks Uncle Josh for the peak behind the curtain. We own a Jayco and it has been solid from day one. Friends of ours have had issues with theirs ( other brands not going to mention the names ) and they are newer then ours. From the video you can see the comparison in building. Great video and I think you may need singing lessons. Haha
It’s not an accident they weigh more and cost a bit more
Thank you for doing this on-site. Very informative.
Its like they gave you the keys go the candy store. Thanks for giving us a peek behind the curtain Josh.
Yeah it was kinda fun just being able to cruise thru!
Interesting....we took the Jayco factory tour, along with several other factory tours in 2017 & 2018. Our tour was during working hours and it was crazy busy everywhere in the facotry. I highly recommend anyone with an RV or considering purchasing an RV to go on a factory tour....we've toured Jayco, Heartland, KZ and Winnebego to name a few.
I like seeing the workers in motion, but I just can’t get close like this during working hours
@@JoshtheRVNerd agree 100% what you were able to show is invaluable for sure!
Also way to rock the road trip at the end of the video with Saving Abel! 😎
That song lives rent free in my head next to Got No Shame by Brother Cane
Thank you, very interesting
Nice Video Josh, I presently am looking now at the Pinnacle and the North Point. Not see any of these in the North East at all. This is very informative, thank you for sharing.
They definitely ship them into that area. May be sold out around you??
This has helped us tremendously thank you.
Don’t miss our tour of the eagle plant at m.ua-cam.com/video/G4x-x-U5dkM/v-deo.html with parts 3 and 4 on their way!!
@@JoshtheRVNerd lol already qued up ! Love these.
Josh, I love your videos ... thank you so much!
Thank you for this video. Actually looking to purchase a new Jayco Eagle HT travel trailer and was looking for a view of inside construction.
Keep up the great work! I would certainly be coming to your sales lot if we were closer, but there is that distance thing if about 1,900 miles :)
Great video as always.... especially the end...... time to get an RV and go on tour Josh!!
I used to be in a loud southern Michigan bar band and would’ve loved that once
Interesting tour! Thanks Josh!
This tour is amazing Josh, I've never seen a factory video as good as this, your detailed commentary is second to none...thank you! I really like Jayco's and would be honored to own one, one day. Happy Easter to you and yours sir. God bless
Awesome! Ty :)
Wow we actually have a 382FLRB due to be completed in the next week, maybe one of those is ours!
That’d be cool!
Awesome I was looking at the north point 373bhok thank you
My pleasure
Pretty neat! I've worked in a few factories, but not one like this. Cool to see how they're put together!
You should have seen how crazy my production area sometimes looked!
I'm sure it's like my desk here. I try to keep it under control but man.. some days...
Dude your a goof ball .... but you are very informative. Your video on the flrb north point made us go buy one ... enjoy your work ... thank you
Wow! Thanks John! Please consider leaving us a review in return for our efforts at www.haylettautoandrv.com/review-us/
Well done vid Josh ! Quite an interesting build process for 5th wheels. Slainte' ! Cheers !
Hey Josh, really enjoyed the 4 part series. I got to see so much that I never thought of. Thanks! P.S. I love shopping at the "Sky King" fireworks store. It makes me feel like a kid in a candy store. 💥
Thx for watching, Joe!
Great tour. Thanks Uncle Josh.
Great video josh, happy to have bought a 20 pinnacle 32rlts, pre covid ! You talk and show us about lack of inventory but a local dealer here in mass is loaded up, dont understand. Thanks nick
There’s always a reason. Inventory is very low nationally. Some places are simply holding display models or demanding aggressive figures to let something go
Very educational
Excellent Video, I like this stuff
As usual a great video. I have an 04 Designer 29 RLTS and Jayco provides good bones for repairs. Don't know why they didn't call it a 33 RLTS just seems more accurate😀
I’ll be honest, I like it better when ur doing it when they aren’t working cause I’ve watched pretty much ALL of ur other factory tours and yeah it’s loud when they are in operation!! And I’m surprised u didn’t plug the RV so that u would have light in the ones where u recorded where it was dark? Cause don’t they just pretty much like plug them into the wall at each station so they have light to work in?! And it’s crazy how u know what each one is when it’s only like 2-3 maybe 4 stages in lol!!! Awesome awesome video Josh, can’t wait for the next 3!!!!
Ty Mark!
@@JoshtheRVNerd you are very welcome sir! 🙏🏼
We ordered a NP377 3 weeks ago, hope to get a build week assignment soon. Sure wish they’d reopen factory tours, we’d like to take a run up there for a tour during our build week. (From New Orleans)
Very interesting and informative, great job Josh!!
Ty Mike! More parts of this series coming out roughly once a week as I can get to them!
Great tour, thanks. Very interesting to see them pieced together. MY comment applies to all RVs. I hope the manufacturers find a way to make some lighter models but still reasonably sized, for those that want them. With so many of the politicians talking about phasing out fossil fuels, gasoline taxes, and green deals, makes me wonder how we will tow them. Even if it means doing things like using mesh instead of cabinet doors, and other lighter weight, thinner, composite materials and solutions to reduce weight instead of so much wood and steel. I know some people put a priority on looks, which is fine, so such a light weight model wouldn't be for everyone, and certainly the ones you featured in your VLOG were beautiful trailers. However, even with our single axle, 4700 pound GVWR 191RBS Apex Nano, I notice it behind our F150 5.0L V8 tow vehicle (and keep in mind this is our first camper/RV ever -- yes, we took the plunge like many others recently). Would love to drop 1000 to 1500 pounds without losing any of the functionality/usability (and still affordable of course). At 55 MPH, no problem. At 70MPH and flat surface/no wind -- no problem. However, at 70 MPH and any sig headwind and/or sig hills, I spend a lot of time in 4th gear. Maybe I should have gotten the turbo eco boost?? Thanks again for a great video.
Always our pleasure. Thanks so much for watching today
I LOVE Jayco!💯❤🥰
Great video, very informative! Thanks for taking the time to make this. I am looking forward to seeing how my Jayco Eagle HT TT was built.
I think I’ll have time to get that one done by next week
Always enjoy your videos, and most of your jokes. Would have liked if you would have explained why the gap between the roof sheathing and the side walls. I'm assuming that's to lessen the road vibrations to the roof, but again, I'm assuming. Thanks for the info. Hoping that there's a Jay Feather part to this series.
“Most of your jokes” lol
There’s an extrusion that covers that roof gap there which wasn’t yet applied. Should’ve mentioned it. Ty
Thank you for the video I think I would pick the Pinnacle rear living room
TY Jason!
Awesome very cool to see factory build of my favorite brand an Josh u did great job jayco needs to start paying you or at least all expenses paid two week vacation really good job buddy loved it 😀
Thanks so much for this video, very interesting. We love our Jaco but are about ready to upgrade from our eagle to North point!💕
This was awesome. Thank you
