great video, even greater job missing the negativity!
Please consider a video touching on towing rating, hitch weight and the benefit or drawback over single rear wheel versus dually. Each vehicle manufacturer lists the capacities of the tow vehicle, but many folks don't get the hitch weight versus towing capacity confusion. Having a high 'tow' rating does not translate to high 'hitch' weight. I see too many rigs on the road where the truck is obviously overloaded and squatting considerably in the rear, and leaving little weight on the steer axle. An example: a 1500 Ram may 'tow' 16,000 lbs, but it's rated 12-1500 lbs on a fifth wheel hitch. Bet a dunkies you can't nerd it up and keep it simple. ;)
I've actually made videos specifically on that topic (but answering from the passenger's seat on my phone which isn't easy to look up links right now)
You're 100% right and I will keep making videos on the topic to help spread that awareness. TY for offering this discussion today!!
i'm looking at buying my 3rd RV & can't tell you how refreshing your video is. Many of us want to know about the integrity and build of a unit. (Neeeded to hear about the plywood and 36 month warranty). Your video is the way presentations should be versus opening ALL the RV drawers including the microwave- & oven doors....sitting in recliners pressing buttons and acting like clowns. Thank you again, for having an adult and mature approach. Appreciate ya!
My pleasure!!
Wow! Your time is appreciated creating, editing, and posting these vids.
I appreciate that!
Nice job Josh,
Your the only person that wants to do these comparisons, these help to educate the consumer and narrow the time spent on a physical search. The information you pass along helps us to rule out some features and decide others may have merit for us. Thanks for taking the time to provide this information and Y'all stay safe and healthy.
TY James. I hope more people "Catch onto" these as I'm not quite seeing the activity on them vs. the time required to make content like this. These comparison videos are far more involved than my normal tours. Something like this probably took me 4hrs or so to complete for instance.
#1 U HIT IT !!! ... Thank You ... Thank You ... Thank You ... Thank You ... Thank You ... Thank You ... I was looking for separate ice makers and ice crushers. And yes much appreciated for your fist fight ... don't make me say it all !!!
Like the level of detail, please keep it up. And that little filtered water for the ice maker is nice ... no sense polluting our adult beverages... Ha ha
The best comparison video out there. I’m glad I have two years to decide which one to get as an upgrade because it’s too hard. I kept switching every time you explained something. Great job 👍🏻
Man.. compared to where North Point was 2 years ago vs now... WHO KNOWS where these two legend-level-brands will be 2 more years from now! :)
As a very happy North Point 377RLBH owner, I would still prefer analog switches vs BMPro. I’m techy enough to understand it, just prefer tactile switching like the Montana has. 🤷♂️
I Commend you for being able to appreciate the brand you *DON'T* own in this video. True sign of someone with an open mind walking into this content.
In my experience most folks walk into something like this with their mind already made up if they already own one of the brands.
I’m looking at purchasing the 377 very closely, but I certainly had to look at the Montana as well. This video was EXTREMELY helpful. Thank you!
By far my favorite video that you've done to date! Thank you!!
Really appreciate hearing that. Comparison videos like this take *hours* to put together. I was starting to wonder if the juice was worth the squeeze lol
Thank you so much Josh. What a GREAT comparison video. We currently own a Grand Design but looking into the Montana's and North Points due to the lighter interiors being produced now. You are a great help. Keep up the good work; it is much needed out here.
Glad it was helpful!
Another great one-on-one comparison. Great explanations on the splitting of hairs. i like the Jayco exterior lighting system. And their cooking exhaust set-up. You Rock Josh....
TY Dennis. means a lot man. Late night tonight trying to keep up and a few kind words really do a lot to keep a guy going :)
I too grew up with the internet, and like gadgets. For some reason though, the buttons on the Montana are more appealing. The built in access point on the North Point is interesting.
As someone who is in/out RVs every day I 100% prefer direct-quick-access to things like slides that I use constantly. So physical buttons are always a winner, but that direct-select method on the BMPro system is perfectly fine by me
Outstanding & your best video, and I have watched a ton of your videos over the years. We have a 2018 Montana 3560-RL Legacy Edition with full body paint. We absolutely love our 5th wheel. Both of these lines are very close in the details, and you expressed that in all your comments. Thanks again!
But they put the windows up too high for those of who are height challenged to see out the window sitting down. :(
Thank you for making such a detailed video of these two amazing rv's. You really answered a lot of my questions.
Glad it help!
Please keep in mind this video is about a year old now though most of it still holds a pretty nicely some things have been dated a little bit or changed
Josh, thanks again for an amazing video.... I've been watching you for roughly 3 months now, and before that, I couldn't have named any rv out there. But now, WOW... I LITERALLY drive my wife crazy with everything I've learned from you about all these different rigs. And to show you all at Haylett my appreciation, I will be ordering my Pinnacle 37MDQS from you! I'll be in touch soon.
Thanks again for everything!
Ty Tim!
Keep annoying that wife and you’ll be sleeping in that Pinnacle lol
@@JoshtheRVNerd buddy, I'm a savant at doing that...you can totally consider it already done! 😂... 👍
You had me at simple, direct, 👍and no Bill Gates technology 👎. That’s great!!!
LOL - fair. I get it. As someone who touches ALL OF THE BUTTONS and opens ALL OF THE SLIDES I do appreciate direct-access-buttons but the full BMPro system's jack/awning/slide select & open switches work fine for me
Another great video, Josh. I have been waiting for this one since I saw it advertised in early November. Thanks for all the work. You are quite the Yankee with that corn boiling. I would use those high output burners to make gumbo!
lol - I won't deny it. You're in Pepsi country up here :)
So your saying Montana's are for old people and Northpoint's are for old nerds. LOL Keep up the good work
PFFFFFTTThahahahaha -- not in exactly those words but I'm not NOT saying that either :)
Awesome comparisons! Thank you!
Oh I'm going way back Josh, addicted to your darn channel 😆😆 you know I love my North Point!
:)
Hands down, this is the greatest review and comparison I've ever seen! Particularly the "non-tech nonsense" that you pointed out. I don't want to risk not being able to use my home if a screen breaks... 😂
Ty!!
The best review of rv’s I have ever heard. Love our Montana best. Thank you 😍🇺🇸
Wow,you covered everything I would have asked, and I also learned alot from the other questions and comments you got from other buyers and RVERS.THANKS to you and your followers. It helped me out Alot!!!.
Glad it was helpful!
You're doing a great job! Iove the information and know that you are giving true and trustworthy information on the trailers!! Keep up the good work 👍👍👍
Thank you! Will do!
Awesome video per usual Josh!! I still can’t believe that these new fifth wheels or rv’s in general have everything on them that they do!!! It just amazes me!!! Keep up the awesome work big man!!!
It's crazy to me to see how much things have changed in my 12 years of doing this.
When I started only the HIGHEST level RVs had OPTIONAL TVs... some of which were a whopping TWENTY INCHES
Now? It's like popup campers have 90" smart TVs or something lol
@@JoshtheRVNerd lol yeah I totally agree. I mean hell abunch of fifth wheels are coming standard with auto leveling and all that. I remember, what it’s been just a couple years ago, and that was just a very big option that u could add?!
That was such a great video. I think those for me I like the refinement of the Montana but that drinking water system really is worth it to me and the electronics in the Northpoint are really nice. I also like the new range in the not Northpoint.Diving that I wish Northpoint would do that Montana does is those shades they use are fantastic. I’m going to call you guys for pricing on the Northpoint I’m in Texas and I’m looking.
Awesome! TY for the opporutnity, Scott! :)
Thanks for making this video. I'm an aspiring 5th wheel owner and I appreciate your videos. When I'm ready, I'll definitely be stopping by to see you!
Have you made any videos detailing differences between manufacturers when it comes to solar? I know Montana leads the way with the Super Solar Flex, but I saw a few different solar ready signs in that Jayco and i know some manufacturers are starting to add juice packs and other things besides just "solar on the side". Anyway, I think it would be a fun topic to highlight similarities and differences between solar options.
Jayco has been offering standard side AND Roof solar prep on more models than just about anyone else for longer than anyone of which I am aware. And they're now the only brand I know doing it on literally all of their travel trailers and fifth wheels standard (even their single axles as of the 2021 updates!)
A TON of brands have started offering things like 100-190w factory solar packages. Montana definitely sets the standards though with their "basic" solar package being 300w + inverter and their super solar being 1200w + a SCHLOAD of hardware.
Solar is such a tricky thing though. It's anything but "one size fits all."
Rather, it's 100% a thing of "What size fits you?" There's just simply no package that can handle every potential RV'ers needs affordably.
I'm eager to see how more and more solar integrates into the RV industry, though. My hope is we start seeing smaller campers capable of running completely 12v in the next few years (like the Geo Pro segment) before that technology expands into other RV segments.
Awesome. Thanks. Still can’t make up our minds. lol.
Only upgrade that’s a must for us is the symmetrical oven / cabinet set up.
I enjoy these older videos.
Glad you like them!
watched this video five times and changed my mind five times. some tough decisions.
I think that's probably the most reasonable assessment of these two things. I'll share my own view -- when I walked up to them in my head I was *personally* thinking "No question -- Montana is going to win this."
Then, as I went thru I actually stepped back and went "man.. I don't know"
@@JoshtheRVNerd with ad many changes that have happy with the 2022 models (factory solar comes to mind) a Updated video would be awesome.
Hi Mr. Haylett i am planning to get one maybe next year. i like your channel it give's me more information and comparison of each other RV. I will keep watching you on your channel to learn more about RV's. I will subscrive right now.
Welcome aboard to the #HaylettNation!
My wife is in love with those Insignia ranges, and is very disappointed they are not available in the Montanas. We are looking at mid-bunks so we have a place for the grandkids and she also really likes the ability to have that extra table in the mid-bunk in the NorthPoint and Pinnacle models.
Thx for watching, Skip!
Nice comparison of two great units! Thanks!
My pleasure!
You are the man Josh! I've always wanted to know the difference both these two and definitely see the hard decision it imposes, but you do a great job with it! Thank you for taking the time sir!👍
I do not hesitate to say two years ago it felt like a much easier decision for me. Montana really was the clear winner at the time.
Jayco didn't like hearing it and they agreed. And boy did they step up BIG TIME
I could really flip a coin between them right now. I personally feel a smidge more confidence with the knowledge that Montana has been operating at this elevated level for longer, but it's not like Jayco is some spring chicken. They know what they're doing too. It's... tough
@@JoshtheRVNerd Sense I am new to the RV life, I have the benefit of witnessing the best of what these brands have to offer now and personally, like you said in the video, comes down to personal choice, the Jayco does it for me. The kitchen's and bathrooms won me over, along with that warranty.
On a side note, I also want to thank you for your interaction with us here. I think it says a lot that you take the time to chat with us here, much appreciated!
@@alandillon6469 TY for recognizing the time we spend chatting with our viewers on this channel. It's a part-time job just managing this channel in and of itself as it's grown. I get hundreds of comments a day and try to hand-review every one of them (and often replying to nearly all of them personally)
@@JoshtheRVNerd And that's why you are going to be very successful for years to come Josh! Honest hard work always pays off and I believe RV folks recognize that. Have a blessed day!
Thank you very much for a very informative comparison. I really love these layouts.
Our pleasure!!
GREAT video Josh......but now to decide.....both look like AWESOME trailers.
Glad you like them!
This is a great video! It help me make my mind up on which brand to get. I was trying to decide between them but I like the Montana. I'm 38 so tech is nice but I like the features of the Montana. Thanks for putting it together.
The older i get the more I crave simplicity. I get it
Been considering a North Point in a few years. For some reason I keep going back to it. But lots to think about the Montana.
New 2022 updates look amazing on both
Damn good job. Expected nothing less from you. Setting the standard!
Great video Josh!
I just came across this old video I would like to see more of these.
TY Todd. I call them "brand battles"
I have so many I would like to do but usually can't get the RVs I want to record side by side
Thank you. Do toy have a video comparing size mic with raptor? You covered many construction points that many do not think to ask about. Thank your!
Thank you!! This was great!
You're so welcome!
Very helpful video Josh! Thank you.
My pleasure. Ty for watching :)
So informative thanks for taking the time. I am so torn between the too
Frankly.. me too
Which one I like better seems to change based on my mood that day
Josh, can you either do a video or explain what the nuanced differences are between Montana, Alpine and Avalanche models like you did with high country and full Montana?
Our content is generally limited more to the brands we feature among our lineup. Perhaps down the line "When I get time" I'll be able to do some "extra curricular" stuff like that, but I don't think I'll be able to do so soon
I will say this -- While we carry High Country and Montana the Avalanche and Alpine are not inferior products. They're what I call "Sister Brands."
Where something like a Rockwood and Flagstaff are quite literally IDENTICAL the High Country has a very similar sister called Avalanche & Montana has a Similar Sister called Alpine.
They're FAR more alike than they are different -- like 97% the same basically
Each simply has MINOR variances either in a floor plan catalog or feature selection. Always very minor differences.
This is going to be awesome!
I hope so. Put a lot of time into this one with some pretty nitty-gritty details. That's what it takes to really compare these two giants
If I want/need info on Rv’s you are the only one I trust. Thanks for what you do. I love this particular comparison video. I’d love for you to do a similar one comparing the Jayco to Grand Design if the opportunity ever presents itself.
I would love to do more videos like this but my challenge is we don’t usually have rvs on the same lot I’d like to set for comparison
All I know, is that we've been having bad weather here in East Houston, Texas. Sometimes not easy to detect, so I came up with a plan! If I'm on the East side on Monday night, but then on the West side on Tuesday I'll know we had bad weather. Even if I was sleeping! How? My 5th Wheel would Roll from the East side to the West side lol. R.V.'s are great for more than meets the eye! Good job, thanks.
love your test lol
Is that like a weather detecting rock? If the rock is wet, then it's raining?
@@JoshtheRVNerd lol. We've got a lot of rain and high winds here. That test isn't good for me, I just realized. I don't know anyone on the West side lol!
We looked at both. We wanted the mid bunk model. 2020 NP was $3k more than the 2021 Montana w/ Legacy package. So that sold us - as we wanted disc brakes. Now to figure out how to add that 5 gallon water to our residential fridge, as we loved that feature. Overall the NP felt smaller, we actually wondered if the footprint width wise is smaller. Especially the bedroom - when slide was out, it felt quite a bit smaller. There were other small finishing touches that just felt undone in the NP. I actually had the NP #1 on my list. We had to wait 45 days for the dealership to get the model we wanted in. And when we went through it, just realized that while it had great features, the overall quality just didn’t feel the same. And then it was priced higher. So at the last minute we switched to the Montana. We have been very happy with our decision.
With 100% respect I feel strongly you were not provided with 100% transparent pricing figures. North Points and Base-Montanas (no legacy) are nearly identical in pricing. Legacy units will certainly cost more unless the figures have been... manipulated.. I suspect you may have been provided MSRP on one and a discounted sale price on the other. I can only speculate of course.
Not sure which generation of North Point you had seen. There was a SIGNIFICANT shift and push forward from that group from the early to late 2020 generation.
The good news: Montana is a BEAST product. It's never the wrong answer.
Great video!! Not sure how I missed this.
Glad you liked it!
This was a great comparison. Thanks for all the info! BTW, did you stop carrying Highland Ridge RV’s? I just realized I havent seen you do any videos on them and I couldn’t find any on your website.
We have taken a pause on stocking several brands. Our lineup was super expansive, but through a few years of monitoring sales stats we saw where some brands shined thru and where some brands struggled to sell among our other offerings.
So we have trimmed things up a bit & basically brought a "Great Hits of Camping" lineup to our clients this year. We simply haven't seen enough new RVs land to really get that lineup rolling LOL
@@JoshtheRVNerd - That makes a lot of sense. I knew that most, if not all, of the brands are having a hard time ramping production up so I wasn’t sure if you had stopped carrying them or if they just weren’t able to get you product. I’m in Northern California and we rarely see HR. In fact, I didn’t know they existed until I started watching your videos many years ago. Thanks for the info and all your great videos over the years!!
JOSH, YOU ARE THE BEST! That is all I will say!
So kind. Thank you 🙏🏻
2:39 the real question is how did the elephant get in the room in the first place, & why is it inside of a room⁉️ 🐘 🤔💭🧐
Careful Sam... you're asking questions to which you may not want answers... lol
Both are awesome. 5 th wheels You should do a show on the internet router so us. Non teck guys have better understanding bud. Thanks for another great video
Great suggestion!
Great show Josh. Flip a quarter to pick the better rig in this comparison. Both high quality. bill in Florida
That's about how I feel about it actually. Which is crazy to say considering the HIGH LEVEL of these two. They're both just... dominant! :)
Great info!!! On point
Would you say it was on.... *North* Point? lol
Really did love the comparisons!
Ty!! 😊
Another way I can tell you ain't in the south is when you say BOLTH! Appreciate the ya'll shout out!
Bolth 😂
Josh, awesome job with this video. I’ve started to look at models and floor plans of fifth wheels as a full time living alternative to my sticks and bricks home that I now have. We currently have a 2024 ClassC, which we intend to keep as our “Touring RV” and utilizing the fifth wheel as a home base. A home base that we can move and relocate very year or every 6 months or so. In fact, you have me so fired up it makes me want to drive from Florida to your location just to purchase from a Knowledgable salesman that speaks from experience. Again, job well done👍
This vid is a bit dated btw
Good stuff Josh! 👊🏼💯🇺🇸
Thanks 👍
You’re the bomb Uncle Josh!! 😂👏🏽
Aww thx 🙏🏻
When we compared, we looked at Montana vs Pinnacle. The deciding factor for us was the amount of chemical eye watering that occurred in the Montana vs the pinnacle. My wife has sensitivities to chemicals and that was the clear decision maker for us. The invoice on my 2020 32 RLTS says on the bottom that it is manufactured with all wood products that meet California CARB standards. Very happy with our purchase. Great video! The other deciding factor was the interview you did with Chris Barth. He discussed how the two year warranty informs everything that they do. In order for a vendors component to be considered for Jayco, it is first submitted to Jayco engineering to determine if it can meet that standard.
Thank you for all the info!
On another matter, I am considering traveling to Elkhart to have the moryde independent suspension and disc brakes installed. What impact do you believe that would have on trade value?
TY for all the viewership and comments! Greatly appreciated!
Regarding the upgrades you're mentioning: Expect very little in terms of trade in value boost. Unfortunately you're fighting against the law of statistical averages when trading and regardless of what you've done to your RV the bank only cares about playing the odds basically.
So think of it like putting a new stereo and some cool rims on a truck. Spend that money if it brings YOU enjoyment, but expect nothing else from it.
You know pal
Really great video..
Comparison at its finest...You are a work of Art...Just beautiful buddy...True Story..
Your right on the money..
Wow ty
Sad that Grand design is not even mentioned. One of the best built RV's out there. But i do understand that it's your preferences, just shocked none made your list 😢 Happy Travels Nerd Herd!
Sorry but.. was this comment left on this video by intention? This is specially a north point and Montana comparison
Solitude would definitely belong alongside them but that would be a different video perhaps
Great video but your incorrect on the cooking exhaust vent in Montana’s. My 3781 has direct exhaust vent through the microwave to the outside.
Josh, first of all let me congratulate you on making the best RV videos on UA-cam!!
I currently own a 2016 Montana 3160 RL fifth wheel. I just turned 73 and am looking to trade for another 5th wheel that's smaller and easier to handle. My Montana is paid for. I like the Keystone Cougar half-ton videos you've done and that's the same manufacturer who made my Montana. I am thinking something in the 26-28 foot range would work best for us. What is your opinion on which manufacturer makes the best ( lighter-half ton ) models? My truck is a 2015 Chevy Duramax Diesel 2500 LTZ and I'm assuming my truck and Companion hitch would work well with any of these smaller and lighter 5th wheels. Are all of these 50 amps? I would probably need 2 AC's here in Texas.
Wow, TY for the monday morning Kindness, James :)
It's certainly welcome
I generally refrain from "Best" questions like this as I really see where each MFG has special qualities I appreciate. I'll say this past year Rockwood came absolutely out of nowhere and has stolen my heart in the smaller FW market with things like these two

50amp is *almost* considered standard among fifth wheels now
awesome I wish they still had the north point 385THWS
They are re-using that flipped around front end design in their new FLRB north point which has I think the single best bathroom I've ever seen in a Fifth wheel.
@@JoshtheRVNerd yes saw that need to haul a honda Goldwing and like the mini toy hauler
Great video, you especially did a good job walking that fine line with two manufacturers while pointing out the differences between the two.
TY Wayne. They're two stud level products who stack up nicely (better now than ever before I think).
I greatly dislike "negative slant" content and only rarely put out anything like that. I'm much more of a "Still waters run deep" sort of person, so when I do make a video specifically centered around something I/We don't like... then you know it's something I'm serious and passionate about.
I wish there was more coverage of the RV and less selfie mode . More focus on the camper would be nice
Fair. TY for the constructive feedback :)
Love the app controlled systems and hate the banks of switches.
TY for the input!
Yeah Josh I think jacyco fresh drinking water no one can beat.nice video like always…👍👍👍Also my favorite rv is jayco flurb which first time I saw on your walk tru and in over a year so far nothing beat that.I have some thinks about toy hauler coz garage but not decide yet .I love your hard work and when time will show believe me I’ll show up at your dealer facility and purchase mine next rv.just side note will be not easy 🤣but on the end I know for sure we all be happy …
Yeah.. that FLRB is still a personal favorite
Love your videos and have learned so much from you. I would like to know if you would do a video of KZ Durango Gold vs Montana. I have done a lot of research and want your opinion please.
I need to get my hands on a few of those Durangos but that's potentially something I could do. TY for the suggestion
I enjoy watching your reviews, any chance you have any comparing Montana / Montana High Country vs equivalent Grand Design 5th wheels?
Not currently. I would love to do more of that but I need the rvs side by side which is a challenge
If Goodyear Endurance are #1 then Sailun are #2. I have had both and I love both. I currently have Sailun.
The more I learn and ask around the happier I've become with Sailun. It was actually this video that made me realize I didn't know enough about them. Since have done some learning and commend Montana for their use of a superior product
Amazing video !
Ty :)
Thanks for such a great video. I am potentially going to buy a 5th wheel for out of town work that will eventually go on some land we own in the desert. I’m concerned about critters getting in. Do either have an underbelly barrier like the Grand Design products?
Enclosed bellies have been in use for multiple decades. I'm not aware of any mainstream fifth wheel lacking that feature in today's market
You mentioned the floors. How about a general video with the different floor systems/materials.
Solid idea. I'll see what I can come up with. You should see this list of ideas I have in front of me right now. People like you smarter than me keep giving me more to add to it :)
1:05 “THE” Montana; as the air is thinner up in the High Country so the trim package is equally thinner with altitude 😉
I've started calling them the "Full Monty" because that's just funnier and it actually works! :)
Josh, you are awesome I love the comparison I have a 2020 Avalanche, only you can help me my 401k is going towards a Montana, but a keystone rep told me to really consider a alpine what’s your take on a couples RV.Or is my Avalanche 333mk just as good?
Let me guess -- was it an Alpine rep? LOL :)
Montana and Alpine are "sister brands." They're not identical, but they come from the same family.
If you think of it like the Brady bunch Montana is Marsha while Alpine is Jan
They're both perfectly fine, but Montana really seems to get a lot of the spotlight as they've been THE number 1 fifth wheel in their class for 18 straight years (and usually the #1 overall)
Great job on comparing these rv's and your other videos comparing Keystone to Jayco. I was hoping that you could do a video comparing the Keystone Montana to the Jayco Pinnacle..?
Keep doing what your doing!!
Might have to travel from Colorado to you to buy an rv. 😁
I have what you need right here ua-cam.com/video/dY6OMUFkJvo/v-deo.html
Hi Josh, thanks again for another great video. I'm looking for a great rig for boondocking here in Utah. Our Eagle just doesn't seem warm enough, especially underneath. Which 5th wheel do you believe handles freezing weather better? Especially piping/tanks. Montana Legacy or Northpoint/Pinnacle? What issues have you seen?
I'd be curious to know the type of weather you encounter. Keep in mind _absolutely no_ RVs are guaranteed for more extreme weathers. Typically MFGs test from 0-100 and that's about it
That all being said.. we had several brutal polar vortex winters the past few years and had owners in things like Cougar/Montanas reporting excellent results. They include things like tank heating pads standard which helps.
@@JoshtheRVNerd
Can’t believe how quickly you responded.
It got to 17 degrees in the wee hours. Wasn’t expecting it to be so cold. Forgot to bring my lithium charger so generator couldn’t top it off properly. Ran low on generator gas so had to set thermostat to 55. It lasted to 5 AM then I connected the trailer and ran it about 1.5 hours at 70 until fuel ran out. Water froze but thawed out later in the afternoon. No apparent damage. Whew. P
Part of the underlines started to peel back about in the middle of the trailer. I could see a tank directly above. Not sure which one. Probably water.
I’m looking to upgrade to a unit better insulated unit. Perhaps with installed heating pads. Thinking the pads themselves would help. I’ve watched some videos where owners have removed sections of liner, insulated, reinstalled, and sealed seams, and added foam. What a lot of work especially crawling around on ones back. One video featured a Pinnacle with another Pinnacle owned following up on the process. Poor guy fell from the nose repairing an LED leak and luckily landed on his feet, but still broke both heels.
Wife and I love our Eagle. Seems the small Northpoint and Pinnacles are very similar just better. We don’t live it it full time. No Jayco is listed as a top winter trailer. Montana is on everyone’s list. So I’m pretty much asking you from your experience, which brands you notice have fewer freeze related repairs or what the recommendations are of the owners you run into who do a lot of cold weather camping.
Just asking. Thanks a whole bunch.
The game changer for Jayco North Point for 2024 is 102 wide body standard for all models..
Agreed. The furniture improvements and revision to the front closet are also on point
Great vid. Can you do it again with 2024’s?
Yeah I need yo update these for sure
Love this comparison since I previously owned a Montana 10 years ago and now own a 2021 North point. I live fulltime in it.
I'm into technology but the JayCommand but it's not been reliable. Currently the tablet had died. I tried resetting there nodes and now I can't pair the keypads. Since the JayCommand is a small Australian company. There's no UA-cam video, User Guide, or anything other trouble shooting for this of it doesn't work.
Do you have any information or contacts regarding this?
Also as a piece of review the flooring on the loveseat/recliners and table has split through behind the 1" wood piece under the flooring. This is a serious flaw.
Love your videos. They're very informative.
I don't have any technical info I can offer on the panel other than it likely needs replaced (which i'm sure isn't news to you). My father's pinnacle had a similar issue.
Those are basically android tablets and my LOOSE understanding is they dealt with a wave of poor quality tablet/panels from the supplier
You always go the extra step to show everything.
Man i try
Great video, I don't understand why Montana took out the barreled ceiling. Just for the point you made.
They did... but they didn't -- lol -- here's what I mean.
They took out the barreled ceiling, but they raised the sidewalls. So the "top" of the barrel is the same as it used to be, but you now have more headroom along the sides in the upper deck than you used to
@@JoshtheRVNerd i did not know that, but thats pretty cool. I'm glad the height was maintained.
Did I miss the tire talk on the Montana? Talked long on road armor suspension!
I 100% admit I didn't circle back to talk about Montana's Sailuns in proper depth. They're 75mph rated (which is less than 87mph, but anything more than 70 is overkill), and 2yrs more warranty with the same load ratings
The max air is great if the gear box was not broken in both kitchen and bathroom…on a waiting list for the parts.
Ugh. Sorry to hear that :(
It looks to me like the Montana has a bigger payload capacity. Is that because the North Point is heavier? Or do they use higher rated axels on the Montana?
North Point's extra weight is the primary reasoning
I like Room on each side of Stove..
Does Jayco put a The convection/ conduction cook top(Not sure exactly what its called)?
They do not. I don't see many MFGs outside of motorhomes using those with any sort of regularity.
I actually quite like the half induction / half propane stove tops but again tend not to see them outside of motorhomes.
@@JoshtheRVNerd can they be installed by you?
@@fredataylor8936 *Possibly,* though I don't know if anyone has run that past us.
I think our team is certainly physically capable and has the know how.. Not sure the cost or timeframe of a job like that
You touted Jayco’s full time Rv warrant then after I purchased one and questioned you on that you responded not really just extended vacation
You are the best.
Too kind :)
Do you still offer the truck & trailer packages? That's something I'm really interested in
Actually no. Bish’s doesn’t get into the vehicle side of things
What did the France one said ? 🤣
Well, my bad. I didn’t really pay much attention to the original release date. Does it still hold true today? In your opinion, Is Montana still a good purchase for full-time RV living?
Mostly holds up but some stuff has changed. See my more recent videos for updates on each brand
Both are great options for extended use
I wanna see your view on Columbus river ranch
We're not a Palomino dealer so we won't be doing a review of it, but I'm familiar with the RV. It's actually a RE-introduction of what Keystone originally did nearly 10 years ago with the "Fuzion Vision"
You can see one here www.haylettautoandrv.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Fuzion-Vizion.jpg
I *love* it whenever a MFG is willing to go in another direction. That kind of courage is what broke the chain of "brown on brown on brown" interior decors with things like Jayco's Modern Farmhouse which has been HUGELY influential
I'm not sure about this "deluxe apartment in the sky" concept, though. I love the idea, but there comes a point where I fear it begins to lose its functionality.
I actually know the gentleman who managed Fuzion at the time the Vizion was made. I inquires as to why the Vizion project simply didn't prove ultimately successful. He advised the feedback they received at the time commonly included folks not wanting so many steps to get in/out, not feeling like they got a fifth wheel once they got inside (since you're basically only getting a travel trailer interior size like an Eagle trailer), and the belly storage (while being impressive for sure) was often left unused and effectively wasted space. He also cited towing concerns as the center of gravity for the RV was far higher than most RVs by shoving so much extra construction upward.
I know there are definitely some folks who want/need that extra exterior storage, but I think models like the 3790RD Montana seen here ua-cam.com/video/PxkHxbHk5ME/v-deo.html provide a great amount of exterior storage w/o losing the "feel" of a fifth wheel
I'm very eager to see how the concept holds up over time. Palomino has always been willing to take some chances and I respect that about them.
I think the River Ranch will do alright initially, but I project the interest in it will fade after the initial batch of buyers are fulfilled.
But hey man -- I'm just one guy and I sure don't get everything right. Just two friends chatting.
What are YOUR Thoughts?? I've obviously done enough talks LOL
I think it’s a good concept. I didn’t think about it be top heavy. I don’t need all that storage. I live in my cougar as a minimalist for real. We have definitely had our problems with it but I still like it. I’ve had to replace the furniture and blinds tho
Nice
Thanks
